Titans lock out Steve McNair

Post by BSmack »

I guess when a player tries to live up to his contract that's an entirely different story. I don't know why they don't just release him and get it over with.

"Titans coach Jeff Fisher, who was in Los Angeles observing USC quarterback Matt Leinart in a private workout Monday, declined to elaborate but said, "Things got blown out of proportion. ... We'll get it straightened out.""

...of course THIS had nothing to do with Bud Adams power play :meds:

Personally, I think the guy is a cripple who should retire, b/c his health should be more important.

I think its dick of the ownership to treat him like this, esp if he restructured his contract for so many years, in order to help the team out.

I say, come to some kind of settlement, release him, and draft Leinart.

Last year's numbers don't look much different than his collective average of the 2000s. I am sure he can hand that ball off just as good as Kyle Boller and even mix in a few throws. Plus, Boller hasn't had much of a leader while in Baltimore.

Shit Collins' numbers look the same and I would have the same to say about him in regards to handing off the ball.

Anyway you look at it, B-more should be getting a QB that has been to The Superbowl and a handful of additonal playoff games in other years for 2006. It's all good.

If he's not a Raven by the season opner, I'll be shocked. Now Pittsburgh is really going to hate 'em.

I would have been scared of McNair a few years back. Right about now, all he's going to do is steal practice reps from Boller, get hurt, and retire in 2 years or less. It's all good.

Yup, he only had his 5th highest passing total in his 9 years as a starter last year and the 14 games he started surely fails in comparison to Ben's 12. :meds:

Dude gets hurt but stays on the field, most years he misses 1-2 starts and maybe a hadful of quarters.

Dude misses half a season the previous year and moron seems to miss the fact that he threw for over 3000 yards in 2006 on a piss poor team.

Oh and yea, stealing reps from Kyle Boller is a good thing. Glad to see you can understand that. :meds:

So you're telling me that McNair will be playing 3 years from now?

McNair is one tough dude. But he's been pounded on for way to long. His body can't possibly hold out much longer. If it could, the Titans would have let him stay in camp instead of treating him like last week's garbage.

Besides, never underestimate Billick's power to turn a good offensive player into a steaming pile of crap. ;)

McNair is the very definiton of warrior on the filed. Dude gets hurt every year, and still plays- and plays well. He had his 5th highest passing total last year, and 2 years ago had his 4th highest when playing with a bruised sternum. I wouldn't worry about injuries.

The only concern I have with him is his age- but him at 33 is still better than Boller at 25. He will make the defenses respect the pass more, opening things up for Lewis. He always had a good rapport with Mason- and they would be reunited again... I'd say he'll get at least 2500 in B-More with Mason, Clayton & Heap.
Yeah fuckers.... I'm back

...McNair reminds me a whole lot of Stan Humphries. Pounded into oblivion because of no O-line, but tough as they come. Even in their Super Bowl appearance year, the Bolts O-line didn't give him more than 1-2 to get rid of the ball. By 94 Humphries was a freeking Purple Heart on legs.

I don't think Billick's offense ever was the problem, the problem was personnel and who actually played on those offenses, namely the quarterback. Billick's weakness is in choosing who to throw the ball for his team. The Ravens will need to improve the offensive line too for it to work. They had the largest line in football and it took away their ability to pass block and do other plays like screens where the linemen need to move.
