Since the phone hasn't rang for me to make the late TV season schedule  , I guess this will do.

We need attractive season ticket prices, damn it..!!!!!!!

Yeah, I have complete confidence that nobody is gonna get fucked in this process........team, fan, network, or sponsor.
GREAT job, NFL.

The Sunday doubleheader would feature Larry and the Celtics v. Isiah and his Pistons, followed by Magic and the Lakers v. ...... insert your favorite western conference slop
The next week it was Michael and his Bulls v. Magic and the Lakers, followed by Larry and Celtics v. insert your favorite western conference slop.
Magic, Larry, Isiah, Michael, ..... Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Pistons......
Yes, feed the 'compelling matchups' to the masses.
The sheep are too brain-dead to recognize the MAJORITY of your product blows goats.
Compelling, compelling, feed 'em, feed 'em.....gobble, gobble......slurp, slurp, slobber.........
Ten years later......nobody cares about the NBA.
What happened, boss...?

Apples and Oranges, my brother.
The NBA's quick demise can be directed attributed to a few outstanding things:
1. Pro players caring more about making a highlight reel dunk than learning how to shoot the fucking ball. Brick after fucking brick followed by a sweet dunk makes that shit product unwatchable.
2. The league embracing that cunt Pat Riley and his shitbag defensive tactics that the worthless Knicks and Heat employed throughout the 90's. Cant shoot the ball to save your life? Go join Riley and whatever team that faggot is coaching to learn the horsecollar and hack jobs you'll be throwing down on those much more talented than you. Fuck stern for televising that unwatchable slop every fucking week. IMO the league still hasnt recovered from these 2 reasons. I could go more in depth about how even ESPN has a hand in reason number 1-but I dont fucking care enough at this point.
I still LOL thinking about how MJ and Phil got over on that pussy every fucking year despite that bullshit Riley instilled in his talentless players, though.
Football wont experience that, Pop-There will always be those that enjoy hardcore Defense or Hardcore Offense-or those like us that enjoy all 3 major segments of football.
The only thing i'd put on par with the NBA is the refereeing. Shit is just horrible all the way around in both leagues.
Don't be a tard. The marketing had little to do with it. The pro game turned into a bunch of selfish, money-hording dickheads (TMac, Kobe, AI, etc.) that were out for the almighty dollar above all else, as opposed to players like Larry, Michael and Magic who played purely for love of the game and to win as a team. Fans generally related better to the players of the 80's than today's NBA Bling Blingin' Thugz.poptart wrote: Ten years later......nobody cares about the NBA.

Im not buying into the "marquee," thing. Fox and CBS still get the first choice. This is alot more about showing a game people might actually care to watch, and avoiding dog turd match ups.poptart wrote:The NFL, on the other hand still DOES have appeal, as a league, to Joe fan. However, by this public admission that only 'marquee' games will keep the attention of Joe fan, they are going down an embarassingly defeatist path. Only SOME of our games can keep the attention of the fan.
This is bad, very bad.
You're training the fan to concede that MOST of the games aren't worth tuning in for.
Over time, this tactic will erode the fan base, just as sure as I'm posting in this topic.
Wrong. As a result of parity, predicting who the best teams will be in the 2nd half is now harder than it used to be. Back in the early 90's and before, you knew who the top 3 or 4 teams would be by season's end, with a surprise here and there. Now, you'll be lucky if half the teams you thought would be good aren't even involved in the playoffs.poptart wrote: Shouldn't the schedule of years-gone-by (pre-parity) have had more late season clunkers than in the current parity years...?
Duh, of course.
Nice spin job, league.
No, we all lose every time we read another one of your boring bitchings about the NFL. Go watch lacrosse or tiddly winks, faggot. I really don't blame you, though. It's not like rooting for the Raiders is like watching a real NFL team.poptart wrote:I coaxed you out of retirement and that was your take for this topic, KALEY...?
You lost.
