I know they have to play the games.....
....but can any of you garlic fans give me any reason to be worried about your clan of mouth-breathers?
And no, I'm not talking about the dirty diarreah river drinking residents of your garbage infested, frozen tundra of a town. I'm taking about your 'hockey' team.
They'll win a game.......won't they?

Well since there's a couple Wings fans in here... What a game tonight vs Dallas ay? Zetterberg making clutch plays again, following his GWG with less than 9 seconds left Saturday night. And how about Cory Cross throwing em' with Ott - i didn't know Cross had that in him - Good to see.

It's been nice to see the Wings play hard even with nothing at stake. In past years, they'd be in cruise control and go into the playoffs without being a rhythm. They go into the series with the Oilers with a couple of key guys rested and they've lost only twice in regulation since the Olympic break. They're one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs and I haven't seen any evidence that says this team can be beaten 4 out of 7 games. It won't be a cakewalk but I expect this team to go the distance. Anything less and this season was a complete waste.

I think we'll be tough to be beat at home with the playoff atmosphere. If they do drop a game at home, hopefully it's not game 2 - i'll be there.al? wrote:JD wrote: I can wear my Stevie Y jersey
Rack you shamefan,...........no shame in reppin Stevie Y.
edit.......no losses in 20 is absolutely insane. Peaking at the right time, but just like the 80's Oilers (irony intended) don't be surprised to see them drop one of the first 2 games.

They're always tough at home in the playoffs but you have wonder if this year's record-breaking success on the road translates into the postseason as well. They're going for road win #32 and 12th in a row tonight in Nashville.
By the way, I bought a ticket for Game 5 of the second round...3rd row!

Yeah, i've been wondering the same thing about the road record - i guess we'll just have to see. And yes, we own the Predators in Nashville.Shoalzie wrote:silkyjohnson13 wrote:If they do drop a game at home, hopefully it's not game 2 - i'll be there.

How much did you pay for it?

With all of the Ticketmaster BS added to it...$165. When you consider it's the same price as tickets in the lower parts of the upper bowl, I got over from that stand point. If worse comes to worst and they don't make it to the second round or the series doesn't go 5, you get a refund for it. I remember going to Game 5 of the Western Finals against Colorado a few year back and paying more than $100 to sit in the third to last row. Paying $165 to sit third row in the neutral zone is a pretty good deal in my eyes. I know they dropped playoff ticket prices as opposed to lowering regular season prices. I'm wonder how much tickets for the conference finals and Cup finals will run.
I don't know if you see the postgame on DSR but Game 2 will be on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm...that one will be on the NBC. The Wings-Oilers Game 1 is Friday night at 7.

Yeah, that's not too bad. As long as they win it'll be worth it. Game 5 vs Colorado - wasn't that the heartbreaker when Forsberg won it in OT?Shoalzie wrote:silkyjohnson13 wrote:How much did you pay for it?

Lol that's tough luck - that's the worst way to lose. I could imagine the drive home was pretty depressing. I was fortunate enough to be at the Joe the night of March 26, 1997. AMAZING.Shoalzie wrote:silkyjohnson13 wrote:Yeah, that's not too bad. As long as they win it'll be worth it. Game 5 vs Colorado - wasn't that the heartbreaker when Forsberg won it in OT?
That's affirmative...I've been to two playoff games and both were OT losses. I hope they don't do it again when I'm there.

Wings are hottest team in the NHL, and won the president's trophy.
Oilers backed their way in to 8th place.
On paper, this ones a mis-match, but they don't play the games on paper. Edmonton matches up well agaist Detroit
Nov 3 in Detroit: Oilers won 4 - 3 OT
Nov 17 in Edmonton: Oilers won 4 - 3 OT
Mar 18 in Edmonton: Red Wings won 4 - 3 SO
Apr 11 in Detroit: Red Wings won 0 - 2 L
So Edmonton took 5 points in 4 games and Detroit got 6 points. Although I really don't want to be facing the president's trophy winnner, I am happier with Detroit than with Dallas or Calgary. Those teams have owned us. Should be a great series... Edmonton in 7

GET-ZKY!!!!
Just to clarify, those two SO wins early on were with Osgood in net. Legace was in goal for both of the wins.
The Oilers make for a tricky matchup but I like the Wings balanced offensive attack, potent power play, the ability to control the puck and their overall effort and attitude under Babcock. The Oilers speed and physicality could give the Wings problems but ultimately, Roloson has to be the best player in the series for them to pull off the upset.

The Oilers were under a tonne of pressure and took a tonne of stupid penalties to start that game and spotted the wings a 2 goal lead. Now the presure is clearly on the team that has managed to get bounced by the ducks and flames.al? wrote: When your team absolutely had to have it, and the Wings had nothing to play for, you got shut the fuck down.

Joey Moss wrote:Do you really want to use the goalie excuse? C'mon we had Conklin, Markennen and Morrison until the trade deadline.
I'm not using Osgood as an excuse...he went 20-6-5...I'm just saying those wins were against the backup goalie. Legace went 37-8-3 with a 2.19 GAA, .917 save% and 7 shutouts...don't sleep on this guy, he had a Vezina-worthy season. The offensive balance is scary enough but then you throw in the fact the goalie had a standout year. I'm sorry but I have a difficult time believing your team is going to be better than my time 4 times in 7 games.
Do you belive it yet?Shoalzie wrote:Joey Moss wrote:Do you really want to use the goalie excuse? C'mon we had Conklin, Markennen and Morrison until the trade deadline.

the 1st round fodder will let you know what the second round's like, seeings as how you haven't been there in a while.al? wrote:There's no pressure here, garlicfan. You are 1st round fodder.
That your team already folded under the pressure says all you need to know about what will happen.....but props to you for not abandoning your post like most of your brethren have.

i enjoy watching cbc's coverage on oln (we don't get cbc on the west side of michigan), but cbc's announcers suck so much homer canadian dick they make ahmad rashad's feelings towards jordan sound reserved and chris berman a neutral baseball play by play man. jesus, quit openly rooting against the american team. i know you guys are proud of canadian hockey and all that bullshit, but try to at least show a little professionalism.
I'm with you...I was watching the OLN feed until the Oilers tied the game. Garrett is obnoxious. I had it on FSN for the closing minutes...I could only imagine the orgasm the CBC guys had when Hemsky scored that second goal.
I guess I'm free for that drink now, Screw...pick the time and place. I'm drinking right now...understandably. I'm going to have a hard time getting to sleep tonight.
