We've both had our turns at getting over on each other in a big way.

The spurs in '99 whooping the fuck out of us brutally. The lakers literally ripping the spurs to fucking shreds in 2001 with a sweep in which there wasnt a game that was even close in score-and Kobe just cutting your hearts out every damn game. 2002 when pop called your guys 'scared of the lakers' before they went down 4 games to 1 to us.
2003 your guys barely got by us when horry rimmed out the big shot for the first time in his career-followed by the lakers incredibly lucky shot by derek fisher in '04 that basically sealed the deal for you guys.

If you want to really get technical RF, you could easily say that we still hold BODE over you guys in that playoff respect.

Regular season is no contest-The lakers always pack it in against the fucking spurs for some reason.

The Spurs-Lakers rivalry was turning into one of the premeir battles in all of sports, imo, approaching the level of the Lakers-Celtic battles in the 80s, given that whichever team won their series went on to win the championship for what, 5, 6 years straight?

That is, until the Shaq trade. A reporter asked Popovich about it at the time, and he even said something to the effect that he wasn't happy about it, since SA and LA had such a great rivalry going. Maybe he was simply being PC, but perhaps he also was speaking from a certain truth that you need great rivalries in the NBA like the days of old.

Currently, it would seem the rivalry is developing between the Spurs and Pistons ... although, there are a LOT of playoff games to be played and neither team could make it to the Finals this year if a key player is injured.

Which is why I still maintain that had Derek Anderson not been hurt in 2001 -- I believe it was -- it would have been a 7-game series and perhaps with SA winning since they had home-court advantage.

Btw, I used to root for the Lake Show when they would play the Celtics back in the '80s. Loved "Showtime," vs. "The Crips" as my brother and I used to call the Celtics, because they were so freaking old and lucky. ('sup Bird steals the ball against Detroit), not to mention ugly. I remember Arsenio Hall when he used to do standup, before he had his talk show. He used to do a routine about the NBA and his joke was something along the lines of ...
