Are they insane?
The Pack is looking for a 1st round pick to trade for a guy coming off a torn ACL with 1 1000 yard year under his belt?
Don't get me wrong- I would love to have Javon in a Birds uni next year- but I think they have thier expectations set WAY too high. A 2nd this year & 3rd next year- that's a little more doable... But a 1st round this year is fuckin' insane!

Javon Walker will put up numbers better than any 1st round reciever taken this year.
That being said, they won't get anything higher than a 2nd. And even then, I would be surprised. He's be a perfect fit for the Eagles though. He's already used to Brett Favre hanging him out to dry. So he should have no problem picking up McNabb's high throws.
Edit: OK, maybe they are not insane. Word from one of my FFL email updates is that the Packers are negotiating with the Chiefs for Walker. The tentative deal would be Walker and the Pack's 2nd round pick for the Chiefs 1st rounder and undisclosed future picks (probably next year's 3rd rounder).
If they do that deal, it sounds like a win/win to me.

FF on the whole is, in general, nerdy. I won't sit here and lie like I haven't done an FFL before, but to actually win those things requires a very geeky lifestyle which I have completely no patience to maintain. Numbers, stats, matchups, bye weeks...I would venture to guess even the real life football players could give a shit less about this stuff, even when they retire. Here's an interesting irony - A noted choker and loser like Peyton Manning can make your FFL team the league champions. LOL!

Actually, in BSmacks case, taking a calculated risk and literally stealing Larry Johnson for a mere pittance in the JFFL auction draft put him over the top.WhatsMyName wrote: Here's an interesting irony - A noted choker and loser like Peyton Manning can make your FFL team the league champions. LOL!
That, and having the good foresight of also buying Carson Palmer at way less than what his eventual production warranted.
You don't have to be a complete geek to win a FFL, just very astute during the draft....and very lucky that injuries don't decimate ('sup Drunken Trolls?) your team.

Auction drafts sssssuck.
My pic-bit also took that risk on Carson. Of course, I took all the credit.
Auction drafts have very little to do with luck. There's a heck of a lot more strategy involved than just picking. Anyone who wins an auction style draft, whether it be football, baseball, or whatever, has more fantasy bode (if there is such a things) in my eyes.

Finally, something we agree on.UCant#2 wrote: Auction drafts have very little to do with luck. There's a heck of a lot more strategy involved than just picking.
Once you've tried an auction draft, you'll never go back...unless you're a self-admitted Dumbass trying to bid from Kinkos and unable to follow even the most rudimentary of instructions.
The strategy is influenced by how far up the pirce is pushed on each player. After you have blasted your funds on 1-3 players, you are left with "what you can get". You can "strategize" all you want after the that but if your funds are gone you are left with what you fall into.
Kind of the same way free agency works in the off season right now. Every team can strategize their off season plans but if they lose their player to the highest bidder, they have to see what is left.
There is way more luck involved in this manner as opposed to having to think out and position your picks according to your roster needs and your up coming pick. There is way more margin for error and you have the full slate of available players left to pick from with each and every pick as opposed to what you can afford. In rounds 5-15 an auction drafter has a limited amount of players to choose from where as the normal and true life style draft you are still having to make the right decision from a slate of 200 players as opposed to the 30 you can afford at that time.
You also can not hide your sleeper eye as well and it let's others who may not know shit, start riding your tails and trying to steal players you brought to the table. When you get down to the end and have to find those players, you can not hide them from anyone and numbnuts can come and take them because he has more cash??? Lame.

Still taking your stupid pills I see.
Following instructions on how to speed up the connection on an overloaded wireless router?
You don't know much about computers do you, Mr Web TV?
Yea, you know what you're talking about.
Um, yea. Two years in and I am running and haven't found too many in my circle that do not agree auction drafts are lame.

I have been into fanatsy sports about 4-5 years now. It's funny how I have been able to shred my other football and baseball leagues that have a standard draft. Keepers aside of course. Good Lord that team is fucked.
Carpenter-Penny-Lackey....
Yea, I am getting all those guys in an auction draft after I throw them on the table for everyone to see. When a phenom such as myself :P puts his opinion out there, you know the scrubs are going to follow.

This is why you suck at auction drafts. You spend all of your money on A-Rod and Pujols and then have shit left over for the rest of your team.
See what I'm saying?
Oh btw -- what's up Beantown Basher? Who the fuck ever does this...

...to a post????
Everyone "sucks" at them because you can not prepare for them the same way. It's an entirely different "strategy" used to create parity.
I was not surprised we changed the format after I thumped the league with 10 straight wins. I completely prepared for that draft, analyzing schedules and the timing of them so my players were producing against the best possible match ups during the playoffs. I was not surprised in the least when I won. I have found it impossible to prepare the same way since. True, people can still steal your picks in any format but people can be bailed out due to others spending and I guess I am just hugely in favor of traditional drafting where I can take advantage of others' lack of knowlegde.
BTW - My current baseball team? 1st place. :P

I completely agree, but isn't "People's Exhibit A" that FFL is for geeks and based on complete bullshit the fact that BSmack won a FFL?WhatsMyName wrote:FF on the whole is, in general, nerdy.
