Skill for skill, the Wings beat the Oilers in that department but in the playoffs, skill and finesse is cancelled by grit and guts.
Darren McCarty is sorely missed.

Monday's game could be the end of an era. I'm not ready to believe it's over. If Holmstrom could bury one of his 15 chances he's had this would be a different series. Edmonton is battling hard, and Monday's will be a very very tough game to win, but if they can win it, they should take game 7.......have you re-loaded your streamers, Edmonchuck?

Still waiting for yashin...errrr... datsyuk to show up... the guy just cant play the big game... maybe if there were shootouts in the playoffs..

Zetterberg on the other hand is playing a decent series....

Someone other than Maltby and Draper need to hit on the wings..

But I agree with JD this series is a carbon-copy of Flames-Wings from 2 years ago.. a more skilled team having their skill neutralized by physical play and timely goalkeeping...

I hate the Oilers with a great passion, but i cant deny that they are playing well and will be tough to beat twice...

Kind of a femy goal celebration, don't ya think? Hopefully we don't have to see it very much tonight. I'm not worried about who scores the first goal...just don't want them fall behind 2-0 or 3-0 like they did on Saturday. That hill will be too difficult to climb with the crowd behind their team and the Oilers can feel the upset within their grasp. I'm not looking for anything fancy...score some ugly goals and win on the road like they've been able to do all season long.

I was reading that the Wings called up MacLean from the Griffins...I don't know who they plan on sitting to put him in the lineup because you don't call up the AHL MVP and have him be a healthy scratch. I wonder if he's in for Mowers...which means Yzerman isn't going tonight. Who knows...

Well, I think that's part of the problem... the Wings have played the same as they have all season long, and the Oilers have brought their game to a different level. The Wings need to elevate their game if they want to have a chance. Simply doing what they've done will get them a Presidents' Trophy and an early tee time.

I'm actually pretty excited about this game as a good warmup to the Flames-Ducks game tonight. My prediction is that if Yzerman plays (I haven't read any reports on that), Wings win. If not, they get overwhelmed by the raucous crowd and the Oilers' energy level.

Yzerman is still a game-time deicison. MacClean is called up possibly for Yzerman or Samuelson. Basically, there's 2 spots for 4 players - Yzerman, Samuelson, Mowers, and MacClean.

Mowers won't play.....he's been awful. Samuelsson has been a non-factor. Those two spots belong to Yzerman and McClean.

I predict the Oilers will be gripping tight under the reality that they are home and may actually win the series, if they don't get the bounces and the Wings get up early, it'll be back to the Joe for game 7.

Playoffs are great!

Oh ratpackin_cogintoal? The next thread where you don't you ass run will be the first. Don't you have a bandwagon to jump on? Calgary's up a game and Detroit is down one. Better run along and tell your Mom to wash your Flames jersey for you.
