The NCAA actually rewards an athlete's scholarship interest over the school's proprietary interest over its athletes.

Krieg is among the first college football players to take advantage of a new NCAA rule that permits transfers who have completed their undergraduate degrees to finish their eligibility immediately at another school where they are accepted to pursue an advanced degree.

Previously, all transfers from one Division I school to another had to sit out one academic year.

NCAA Proposal 2005-54, which went into effect less than a month ago, states: "A student-athlete who earned his or her undergraduate degree has achieved the primary goal of graduation and should be permitted to choose a graduate school that meets both his or her academic and athletics interests, regardless of his or her previous transfer history."
