Looking to buy a power amp(s) for stage monitors / vocal PA. Got any feedback you could share?

Behringer? Crown?

still sorting throgh the ohms/watts bridging techo babble too.

Gotta start with figuring out how much wattage you need...

Best bang for the buck though is usually found in Carvin monitors/power amps/p.a. equipment.

Good question. I've never done board sound, I have a 50w marshall half stack and a 225 watt peavey bass amp and would always let the sound tech deal with the PA and monitors.

Most of the places it would be used would be typical halls that seat up to say, 300 people max.

Carvin has this DCM1204 - 1200W Power Amp that looks pretty good, with four channels which would work for running monitors / PA vocals, but is that enough power? Fuck if I know.

And what is the typical live "Ohm" set up? every Amp site goes into great detail on how much wattage is delivered at 2, 4 and 8 ohms.

For rehearsals, my modest outfit runs a single 1.5k amp in stereo. one channel for mains, one for monitors. mono outs on both.

Its blisteringly loud. we have 2 kb players 2 guitars,drums bass, and 2 horns. 3 with vox mics.

its all going into 15" wedges/PA speaks.

that carvin would work dandy. you could run the monis and mains in stereo

Sounds good. Thanks for the info. Funny thing I always thought of Crown as being near the top end in amps, but I read several negative reviews about their actual power output as opposed to their listed output.

Is that the 100 watt model? Nice!

I bought the AVT 50H because of the two channels. I wanted to have the valve-driven pre-amp section as well as the clean solid state one to run my Boss GT thru it. The price difference between the 50 and the 100 made the 50 a better deal at the time. I figure later on I might buy a second 50 for the stereo option.

Yeah, It's an 80's JCM 800 2210. Marshall's dual Channel, 100 watt, ass kicking, rectum splitting, ear bleeding, son of a fucking whore. And I fucking love it. My neighbors hate it, but fuck them. They suck anyways! I'm also running that through two 4X12 1982 cabs

I've got a AVT 20 combo as a practice amp that I'm very happy with as well. Gets close to the tone of her big brother without the same volume.
