Why the sudden increase in airport security yesterday? They've known about liquid bombs for 11 years. They have apparently known about this plot for more than a month. What made the risk yesterday any greater than, say, Monday or Tuesday? Especially on domestic flights between places like San Diego and Denver. This plot had nothing to do with Frontier Airlines. Why haven't they increased the security accordingly among airport and airline employees, who would have a much easier time smuggling some kind of nefarious liquid onto a plane than a passenger would?

I guess the Admin figures that once the news is out the public expects to see the government react, so now that they have to wait 3 days to pass security they'll feel a lot safer.

There was no bloody revenge following Columbine because the perpetrators were dead. Also, one of the OKC bombers is now dead. For both of these instances there was no single identifiable group to blame.

I am not saying it is the correct response, but if there is a group to blame, eventually there is going to be backlash. Do outlash and revenge ever become the correct response? I think there comes a point when the consequences of committing murderous acts need to be more feared than the acts themselves.
