firefox download slower than shit

I've begun using IE for file downloads, because fire fox locks up all the open browsers until the download is complete. ANyone else have this prob, or heard of it? I accidentally let FF DL an upgrade, had problems ever since. I'm using version 1.5.0.6

Do you use some kind of bandwidth meter, or firewall? You know for sure that it's FF locking you up?

I was having a lot of trouble with FF a few months ago, but I'm back with it, lately it's been smoking fast.

I use a firewall - ZAP. And yes, the FF browsers only lock up during the process of a FF browser DL. After DL is complete, the blockade is lifted.

but IE is the one that's smoking fast with the firewall on.

I will try to DL with ZAP off, but that is not much to my liking. Shit should just work.
