I believe that's the big part of it. Plus, a reciever does most of his damage before the ball is thrown, whereas a RB generally has to hit someone(s) to make a meaningful game, and 4 or 6 shoes offer up better traction than 2.

Oh. Since YOU'RE the guy that hangs his hat on things that happened like fifty f'ing years ago, I figure you should know.

I researched my family history a bit more. If you want to try to lob smack at me, keep it updated. I'm only like 1/32 Choctaw.

Come up with, or, even better, have your writers come up with, some anti-Irish lines if you want to try to rag me.

By the way, are you going to still post here after this weekend, or are you just running smack in hopes that you win, kind of like shooting craps? You don't come around here very often... not that that's a problem. I'm just noticing...

Truck drivers' log books, I'm sure.

Irish? Bartending must have been a tough job for you then, what with cutting your tongue to shreds every time anyone dropped a full glass.
By the way, are you going to still post here after this weekend, or are you just running smack in hopes that you win, kind of like shooting craps? You don't come around here very often... not that that's a problem. I'm just noticing...

Actually, I've "come around" here more than you could possibly imagine in the last 5+ years. I loves me some CFB. But see, I've never looked at this forum(or its predecessors) as the toilet that others are. You clowns actually have meaningful discussions of CFB here, a subject that I love, and there's an amazing wealth of knowledge among the people here...amazing. So, it's out of respect for the sanctity of this forum of forums that I read more, post less.

Got a problem with that?

Actually, if you were a little more observant than you are, you would have noticed over the last 5-6 summers that I'm a reader during the season, and I tend to occasionally post some irreverent silliness in the offseason....although I've always reserved a right to come in during the season and regale you all with incredible bits of CFB wisdom, such as "The Ducks will win by 14 gazillion points this weekend," "DUCKS RULEZORZ!!!!," and other such gems of sporting intellect.

But see, this season, there's a game against a team who is fairly overrepresented on this board, a team that has put it to my #1 favortest team in the whole wide world the last couple of times out. You really didn't think I'd let that be, did you?

Besides, think about it -- I come in here, run my keyboard 8000 miles an hour about Johnny Franchise gaining 1328 yards on the ground...If Stewart runs over the top of OU, I look like a prophet/genius. If it doesn't happen, I just look like a disappointed homer...

Win/win for me, eh?

RACK the both of you. Funny shite.

Btw, OU covers but Oregon wins the game, thus ensuring everyone is fairly pissed. As for me, I fully intend on being at at least twice the legal limit at my dad's place in OKC by halftime.

I agree... it's funny as hell when you hear skull says he's only 1/32, and yet he looks like a young Ghandi.

I don't see OU going into Eugene and coming out with a win. Hell, they may even get blown out. This isn't your last weekend's Washington team.

Watching OU get run on like they did by U-Dub(worst team in the Pac 10, and it's not even close), and being tied at halftime, lets me believe it will be a long day for the Sooners.

My little bro'(the idiot) graduated from Duckland, so I have no ill feelings for Oregon, other than they hate us more than S.Cal.

I don't think OU knows what it's like up in that waterhole. I'll be pulling for the Ducks, but they've let us down more times than Cal has the Pac 10. Stewart is a monster, and if he's healthy, it's going to get ugly for OU.

Rookie. I'll be three sheets by kickoff...and you're two time zones ahead of me.

I'd expect a little better effort from Soonerfan.

1) Yes, if you and M2 agree on ANYTHING, you're pretty much fucked.
2) Talk to me during OU / Tejas if you think that Sooner fans are "rookies," when it comes to celebration. For the Washington game last week, I was sick as a dog, and actually took a shot of Ny-Quil at kickoff... just to drink. It didn't go well with the Tylenol PM. I missed the first five mintues of the second half.
3) The game:

I think that, if we can limit you to one (1) big play on offense (40+ yards and a TD) and not turn the ball over more than once, that we'll win. I don't think that Oregon is going to run all over OU, even though Dinsdale's Lovechild, J. Stewart, is going to run for 400 yards like LT in college. In fact, I feel like Oregon's going to have more passing yards than rushing... maybe by a 2:1 ratio.

OU's Keys To The Game: No big plays against our defense. Limit Oregon to 100 yards on the ground. No more than one turnover.

Oregon's Keys To The Game: Don't matter. M2 thinks you're going to win. You could get Joey Harringon to lace 'em back up and it won't matter...

(I picked him since he's the only guy I know that went there... I mean, like, recently, anyway... I know someone else went there... I just... I just can't remember. How long have you had a football team? Have they ever, you know... played in a bowl, or won anything of importance...? Like a championship? A "Nat-io-nal Ti-tle?" Have you beaten any good teams lately? Anything?)

Yeah, I'm sorry... It's just not coming to me.

Heh. M2. You're fuct.

Like I said, it probably depends on which OU team decides to show up at kickoff, which also will have a profound effect on my personal legal limit factor, combined with the subplot of any and all early games which happen to be even remotely close. This, of course, is after watching the last 30 minutes to hour or so of Gameday, just to see Corso suck USC's dick.

No my friend, I am IN on Saturday for the long haul, the full Nine yards, the complete 12-36 pack with shots, from the kickoff of Iowa-ISU, right on through to the bitter end of USC-Nebraska and the end of Fla-Tenn. Hell, by the time THE day is over, depending on the amount of OTs, I may even watch a little Army-aTm late shenanigans, just to get keep me in this universe.

I haven't been to Tabu. I've heard it's where all the drunken rejects who've been kicked out of Cloud 9 end up. At least that's what Tabu looks like, on the east side of I-44 mile of strip joints. It makes Cloud 9 look like a mansion, solely based on Cloud 9's lack of dents of cars with actual tires parked outside.

That is soooo 2005.

Offense looks different this year. Same general concept of the warped-ass West Coast Spread Option Thingy, but with much more pounding of the ground.
OU's Keys To The Game: No big plays against our defense. Limit Oregon to 100 yards on the ground.
You'll be lucky to keep it under 250.

No more than one turnover.
That's entirely possible if OU takes care of the vball(thanks, Marcus). While the D plays with a lot of energy and a lot of speed, they don't stand out to me that much as a "force a bunch of turnovers" unit. They'll sure capitalize on them when they're offered, though. If there's a fumble or a pick(or two or three), there's a lot of fast dudes who will make sure the runback hurts.
Oregon's Keys To The Game: Don't matter. M2 thinks you're going to win. You could get Joey Harringon to lace 'em back up and it won't matter...
If I'm going to continue to insult you, your heritage, your lineage, and your football team, I must kindly ask you to stop making me laugh so hard. TIA.
I picked him since he's the only guy I know that went there... I mean, like, recently, anyway... I know someone else went there... I just... I just can't remember
Well, there's AJ Feeley...not sure if you remember him...he was Joey's backup...and still went higher in the NFL Draft than that one guy from OU who won the Heisman...what was his name again?

Have you beaten any good teams lately?
Well, they did beat Kal a couplafew times recently, making them de facto National Champions.

I only hope the coaching is as underprepared as the fans.

FWIW(little-to-nothing), it's also one of Colin Cowherd's locks, too(nevermind that Colin is a U&L guy and Duckfan). He called his shot 33-10. I'm doubting OU's ability to keep QQMF to 33, for myself.

And did I hear right? OU has now decided to switch QBs? Is this correct?

Bad move.

If it wasn't for the M2 factor, I'd be calling for a blowout.

OU is on the wrong side of the turnover ratio. Bringing in a neophyte QB. Bringing a D that's a shadow of its former self.

Enjoy your last day of mouth-running, Soonerfan.

No championship for you. Better luck next year.

PAC10 speed will overpower the Big12 "power."

I really don't think you people understand what's about to happen...you will, in about 27 hours...SINCE IT'S NOT QUITE SATURDAY YET.

But while waking up this morning, I though through the morning fog that I heard a sports hack on my radio saying OU was changing QB's.

Kinda why I brought it up here, since I figured the Sooner collective here pretty much was up on all of this stuff, including, but not limited to, when the starting feature players OL's were on the rag and whatsuch.

BTW-Duckfan is looking like a caged animal who hasn't eayen in a week, and somebody is dangling a piece of tender raw meat in their face. As you probably know, Oregon has traditionally been a team that feeds off the crowd, moreso than most other teams. I haven't seen the fans or players this excited about a game in a loooong time...

Newsflash -- Brady Leaf is a holder on the placekicking unit...and is proving to be excellent at the position so far. He also serves as a backup QB on a team with 5 returning OLinemen, so he'll only see much PT during garbage time -- so look for him to play the entire second half against OU.

That of coming this close >< to winning D2 and 1AA championships.

Ever since Mouse Davis brought his Run-and-Shoot from SUNSET HIGH SCHOOL IN BEAVERTON OREGON(sup Dins), and brought superstud Sunset QB June Jones with him in the mid 70's, PSU was on the map in the lesser divisions. Then upgrading to Neil Lomax, who still holds just about every freshman QB D2 record there is(PSU switched to 1AA after Lomax's freshman year), and still holds several all-division records.

Those were good old small-time football days. Watching Lomax ring up 106 points on...whoever that was.

Watching all those awesome "unknown" QB's go nuts all over the opponents...one of which was Chris Crawford, fellow Sunset '85 guy, who I gew up and played all kinds of ball(damn fine baseball player, as well) with all through our childhood...good guy.

Pokey Allen grew weed in the basement of the house he rented from my buddy's mom-btw. Then again, he was coming down with a pretty nasty case of terminal cancer at the time, so there is that.

Portland State beat D1 New Mexico(bfd) to open the season. Beating Kal would be absolutely monsterous. And since they play in the downtown stadium that somehow got a boondoggle $45 million remodel for a POS crumbling building to house a AAA baseball team, it would be nice to see those tix become a hot item. It is kind of the largest school in the state, although their focus is, oddly enough, on academics rather than sports. But they hired a new AD a coupla years ago, who figured that it was a travesty that PSU wasn't THE 1AA program to end all programs, what with their built-in recruiting tool of offering possibly the finest night life of any lesser-tiered program in the country(PSU is right in the thick of a BUNCH of partying...but you knew that).

And on top of it all...of all the people I know and associate with who have college degrees(in my crowd, it ain't many)...just about all of them earned them from PSU. Many started at U of O or OSU, but they all seemed to come home to roost.

Usually, the Big Sky is Montana's conference to win or lose, but since the hiring of Tom Burman as AD(who resigned this year, but definitely kicked the athletics up a notch during his tenure), the perrenial powerhouse known as Montana might be in for hard times. A lot easier to recruit second and third tier players to Portland than it is to Missoula(where a buddy of mine just moved to, from Helena. He says you can't really compare the "shit to do" between Portland and Missoula, but it meets his specific interests...and a lot of hodunk-town recruit favorite thing to do at that age is get drunk and nail strange, and PSU afford a hundred times the opportunity to do so).

OK...what were we talking about before M2 got me started about my 1AA team of choice?

Walt's doing a splendid job... after furd got crushed by Oregon, they bounced back like troopers and only lost by 1 point to San Jose State.

Furd's new stadium looks nice, and they'll be opening it agaisnt Navy on the 16th of this month... yet some students won't be allowed to enjoy the festivities.

See, now that a "by-the-book" program, right there.

I mean, anytime you put voluntary sanctions on your own band, you know the NCAA wolves won't be barking at your door.

Probably some BS plot to sell the tickets from the vacant seats the band will leave.

it's a tough game to pick, but Oregon is tested so far. they had a tough road game at Fresno, and passed the test. OU hasn't really had that tough game yet against a quality opponent.(which is why i dont like the MU game @tech in 3 weeks, bad teams up to tech) Game will come down to which QB can make some big plays. Oregon beats OU in a slobberknocker.
