I'm going out on a limb and saying that the Raiders and Titans will be n a heated battle for the number 1 pick in the 2007 Draft.

The league should suspend this fucking loser for the rest of the season. PERIOD.
That was brutal. The live shot of the aftermath showed blood dripping rather profusely from dude's head. They didn't show that again in replay.

What I didn't get was why Hanesworth was acting so outraged that he had been ejected.

I don't know- does he?
Does Jared Allen? You don't seem to have a problem with that convict being on your squad.

Apples and oranges, Simpleton.
True. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only trouble Haynesworth has been in. On the other hand, Allen has shown repeatedly that he is capable of violent, irresponsible and sociopathic behavior.

Peter King just said on NBC that he doesn't expect any supsension at all, just a hefty fine. I find that hard to believe. There is no way there can not be a suspension.

I'd say a year suspension would be appropriate but would expose way too much hypocrisy. If Haynesworth deserves a year's suspension, what the fuck should have happened to Leonard Little? What about Ricky Manning? All he did was beat the shit out of some guy who's only "crime" was looking like a jew and a "faggot". Yet he's on NBC as I type this getting nothing but props from the whores at NBC. Shit, I could go on forever about felons and sociopaths in the NFL. And yet most of them were given slaps on the wrist by the league.

My guess is that though a year WOULD be appropriate, the likely punishment will be 4 weeks with the possibility of a further team imposed suspension/fine.

I'll give you cut and dried.
According to the victim's claims in the police report obtained by NBCsports.com, Manning, Tyler Ebell and Maurice Jones-Drew - all former UCLA football players - were among a group of customers who began to bully 25-year-old Soroush Sabzi, who was seated alone nearby, working on his laptop.

When Sabzi, a student and Swedish citizen of Persian descent, asked to be left alone, the insults, including, "Are you a faggot?" and "You f - - - ing Jew," continued.

Sabzi, the police report continues, next called out for restaurant management. At that point, Manning approached Sabzi, who was still seated, stood above him and called him a "an ugly f - - - ing Jew" and a "faggot."

When, according to the report, the victim again asked to be left alone, Manning began to slap him. Manning's accomplices joined in. Sabzi was punched to the ground then kicked, leaving "visible injuries to his face, cheek, head and [sic] lost consciousness for approximately 10 seconds."

Two days later, Manning, 25 and having played three seasons in the NFL with the Panthers, signed a $21 million deal with the Bears. Tuesday, Manning pled no contest to felony assault in exchange for another probation deal. And later he proclaimed his innocence.
Would you want someone like that working in your place of employment?

Nope, but I don't have to worry about it do I?

The Bears clearly made a choice to sign the guy and give him a LOT of money. But AGAIN, it happened OFF THE FIELD and the NFL can't do anything about it.

I do believe the NFL has a code of conduct rule.

B, get off your fucking pulpit and stick to the subject at hand.

Yea, we get it already. NFL players do stupid shit on a regular basis away from the field, and alot of it is much worse than what we saw today. HOWEVER ........ we SAW what happened today. The shit actually happened on the field.

IMHO, this may actually set a precedent. Let me correct myself ..... This had damn well better set a precedent. Its not like the two guys were squared off in an equal fasion, looking to trade haymakers NHL style. Al planted his shoe in the defense-less dudes dome. I say a 4-6 game suspension, minimum.

Collinsworth said that Haynesworth "should apologize to the world"
talk about being on your high horse. I'm sure Pakistan and Thailand give a damn about what happens in a US football game. Plus that was nothing compared to what goes on in soccer games.

That being said it was reprehensible what that guy did....just dead wrong.

Actually, did he do that to a Cowboy?

Nevermind.

Dave,

I have nothing against the NFL dropping the hammer on this guy. But why not also deal as harshly with the other thugs in the NFL?

BTW: Rumor has it that Gurode might have been practicing a "special" variety of holding on Haynesworth. You know, one of those Brokeback holds. What then? Should Haynesworth be exposed to this kind of sexual harrasment in the workplace?

You're the guy turning it into criminals ..... in the NFL.

I'd give him at least 6 games and have him pay the medical costs involved in 'repairing' the man he assaulted.
Toss in a little league community service.
Maybe wash and wax Tag's car every Monday morning for the duration of his suspension.

Collinsworth take that he should have been arrested is valid, IMO, but that kind of action would open up a MAJOR can of worms.

Gurode might well consider pressing charges.

It WAS an assault.

The guys over at ProFootballTalk.com have posted the link to the Nashville DA's Office "Report a Crime" website and are suggesting that "concerned citizens" report the crime.

http://www.nashville.gov/da/da_inv_report.aspx

Again, I'm OK with the league throwing the book at Haynesworth. I just think it's completely hypocritical for the league to do so when pieces of crap like Chris Henry, Ricky Manning, Jared Allen et al are allowed to ply their trade after repeatedly showing their total inability to "play nice" with society. How about cracking down on ALL the thugs?

No, they would have to draft and sign players who are not thugs. There are plenty of good guys playing in the NFL right now. In fact, I'm inclined to belive they are the majority.

No it is not, you fucking dipshit. The subject at hand is some dickheaded fuckwit stomping on somebody's head on the field of play. What some of these assholes do off the field has nothing to do with that.

Fatsworth should be cut from the team and blackballed from the sport...forever.
Yea, but Steve Foley should be allowed back in the league? :bigfuckingrolleyes:

Besides, you might just want to start worrying about how many other Chargers players were involved in Terrence Kiel's little drug ring.

You can argue about wether or not the shooting was justified all you what, but don't tell me Foley was blameless.

Damn, I think we can all catch our limit of Red Herring in this thread.

Haynesworth is a piece of shit. He commited a horrific on-field act. Why that needs to be linked to any other players actions off the field is beyond me.

Dude stomped on an opponents face. There is no place for that type of "on-field" action. I think he should have the book thrown at him. Fuck him. As a fan, that's not what I tune in to see. Now if you want to open another thread to debate what "type" of people should be allowed to play, that's another issue.

If you go back, the only reason I brought up the other players was to explain why the NFL won't drop a 1 year or more ban on Haynesworth. 4 games and a fine sound like the logical conclusion to this story assuming Haynesworth doesn't have any prior disciplinary history.

It's not as much as I would have liked, but it is the longest suspension for on-field behaviour in League history. Props, I guess.

I would have liked to have seen the guy tossed for the year with no pay. The players association would have had a shit fit, but fuck them as well.

For GODS sake I say we get some of those Penalty Boxes like they have in hockey. Put a Penalty Box in each endzone. If you so much as do an illegal hit to the head, ...one qtr. in the BOX. Late hits...10 minutes in the BOX. And if you go Flozell Adams on a guy and punch him in the nuts....the rest of the game plus one additional game in the BOX.

Also...

If you're in the BOX, the opposing team upon scoring can gang assault the BOX until the PAC 10 official blows his whistle. No one can come to the aid of the man in the BOX. He's allowed to cower in the BOX, but the assaulting team can basically do anything with their hands, fingers, helmets, elbows, feet, knees, can openers (sup Raiders). If for some reason, the man in the BOX has an appendage pulled from his body, it is the responsibility of the team that the BOX man plays for to ice it down for later surgery.

Any assault on the BOX, any subsequent Billy White Shoes Johnson knee wobble in and around the BOX, any Chicken Dance, any Icky Shuffle Dance, any Raidah James Afro-Sheen in your face derogatory dress down, any KCPaulie Villi Vanilli CopyCat song, any and all of these are allowed against the BOX man.

No appeal.

I have no idea what the guy was thinking, or why he did it, but he has done and said all the right things since the game ended. Maybe he is full of shit, but he seems sincere and contrite, and thats more than you get from the average athelete after they step on their own dick.

All in all ....... Im good with the 5 games suspension.

Gotta admit though ...... Im a little pissed this has never happened before.

I would have been more than happy, had Derrick Thomas stomped Elways horse face into the fucking dirt. Two, three, or 4 times.

Most appeals are because the player tested positive for banned substances or had an off the field incident. This dude stomped on another players head. Last I checked, Gurode was a member of the union too.

What a fucking joke the NFLPA is.
