State was lucky to be in a tie situation. I was ready to type out a "Illini got jobbed" thread in the event that MSU could hold absolute dog-shit Illinois and win it in OT. I'm talking about the refs overturning a Stanton fumble giving possesion back to State and allowing them to come back.
How bad a loss is this? Illinois would be a middle of the pack D-1aa squad. State loses at home, homecoming game no less.
How bad does this make ND look? The squeek out a win (let's face it, State lost...gave it to ND) giving up a shitload of points to a team that loses to ILLINOIS!!!
State still scares me. They usually save their best effort for UM. Whether it'll be enough remains to be seen. Stanton got hurt on the "non-fumble" play and did not return. Without him they have no chance.

The bad news keeps coming....
Ringer done for the year. He's definately their best RB.

Basically, I'm at a loss for words on this one. MSU lost to Illinois? ILLINOIS?
Yes, I know the pattern...Sparty has talent, plays teams tough a few times a year...I didn't expect the other side of it to shine so fucking brightly, so often.
I feel bad for mgo, and Spartan fan. I feel bad for Stanton, who I think is very talented. SHit can fall around you like a house of cards, amazing to see it palyed out so vividly. Again.

Exactly...
John LL has a lot of gaul to do something like that at a sports cathedral but when his teams shits their pants in their yard, the other team should have the right to stick it to 'em. Especially the Irish should've done something last week. To their credit though...they had some class. I don't know why they even did it last year anyways...it wasn't like it was the first time they've won in South Bend. State is a joke of a program...even when Michigan has a bad year last season, they're still head and shoulders above the Spartans. To me, State and the Lions are the same thing...the fans are put through hell every year, the glory years were 40-50 years ago and they've had only a couple of quality seasons in the last 20-25 years. Not only do I hope it happens, I expect Michigan to blow 'em out next week in Ann Arbor. There's no reason the way Michigan is playing and how beaten up the Spartans are that this should be much of a game.

This has nothing to do with the fans...I've never questioned the Spartan fans' loyalty. I'm simply ripping on State football...just the team, not people who follow it. Aside from Babs, I have nothing bad to say about StateFan. I abandoned Michigan basketball...I fully acknowledge it and you can rake me over the coals for that. I was deceived by the Fab 5 era and I've never forgiven the program since. I didn't leave their side because they stopped being a national power...it was an ethics issue and that's why I admire and root for Coach K and Duke basketball. If they too break the rules though...I'd look for another team to follow. If Michigan football had a similar scandal as the hoops team had, I'd them to the suck eggs. I don't root for teams that don't follow the rules. I didn't go to the school so I don't follow every single thing that goes on there. I don't care about who's the president or what the tuition rate is or what campus life is like. It's just sports with me. I admire your loyalty to State and I won't say a bad thing about you or the fans...I will say without hesitation though, your football team is a mess.

Now, all we have to do is get you to start rooting for Florida State in football . . .
I've been waiting for someone to take a shot at me but I'm not ashamed with my allegiences. At least mine isn't within conference. Yes, I'm a DukeFan...been that way for more than about ten years though so this isn't anything new.

You chose to post that thread, waybackwhen. Of all places to get that "off your chest," you chose here? And you're looking for sympathy? BWAAA!Shoalzie wrote:Why ya gotta go and say that?

Also, there's no reason you can't root for Michigan basketball. No one currently on that team, or on the coaching staff had anything to do with the scandal. The only reason you're not a fan is because the Proud and Mighty Michigan football fan could never root for a loser, could they? You've got too much integrity, right? You wouldn't stand for all that losing bullshit.
Hence, the Dook basketball loyalties.
But that team is on the rise. I sure hope to not see you on that bandwagon when they're playing in March again.

Yeah, stupid me...that was all the way back in January and I'm still getting shit for it. I simply asked for some advice...I wasn't looking for anything other than that. This place doesn't take kindly to people who open up...it's just a sign of weakness to most. To be honest though, after all this time...I could've ran off and hid like a wimp but I've stood in a taken cheap shots from everyone and done it with a good sense of humor. How many people would be big enough to stay around after taking a barrage like that? I loved the way how people took how I was interested in meeting said female and it turned into some freaky incestuous relationship. But I'm not bitter...

You can find any reason to do or not do something. Whether everyone thinks it's the right reason is another thing. Say what you want about my motives...I've stuck by them since it happened and no matter what Michigan hoops does, I won't root for them. By the way, don't hammer on me for rooting for a losing team...ever heard of the freakin' Lions? How about the Tigers every year before this year? Don't call me out on being a front-runner. I made a choice to pick another side and I'm fine with it. It might break some codes of fandom but I'm not a fence-rider with any team...I have one team in every sport but yes, I changed side to another college hoops team back in the early 90s.
Anyways, when the hell did this become a question of my character anyways...weren't we ripping of State's football team? I don't play for their team and you don't either...let's keep each other's personal business out of this. We're both adults here...I'm not going out of my way to bag on you but you're not having much of a problem going after me. You're just having a hard time with the fact your football team isn't doing to well. Sports is ultimately out our hands so hammering on me isn't going to change things.

For the record...I support UM hoops. I know Blind partakes in the C-Hoops forum. If you've been there you ought to know that.

Point of clarification: I think he was actually looking for advice, rather than sympathy, in posting that thread. And she wasn't really his cousin (not that that little fact stopped anyone from running with that particular ball).MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:You chose to post that thread, waybackwhen. And for the record, I am a Notre Dame basketball fan. Since I already was a Notre Dame football fan, it seemed to me not to make sense to root for any other school in basketball. Of course, Notre Dame basketball actually gave you something to root for in the 1970's . . .

^^This is still unsubstantiated. Don't throw out blanket statements. If it were true, Babs would represent you.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:It would be nice to pull a Michigan fan and say "I don't care about football," like scUM fans conveniently do with basektball, .
And the sc you attach to the UM...really fresh. Shows alot of class. Bring your flag to the Big House this week.

I was baiting Shoalz for shits and giggles. Don't feel so self-important. If I address you, I'll tell you to pull my pubes out of your teeth first, due to all the nutsack swinging you've been doing lately.WolverineSteve wrote:^^This is still unsubstantiated. Alot of fans bailed (as Shoalzie) due to the scandal. I can live with that, so long as they don't bandwagon when life gets good (that's right shoalzie, there will be no room for you on Tommie's bandwagon). Amaker is running the program the right way. That means no "quick fix". It's a long road back, but the true fans have remained in place.
Now if you want to say that the rappers and thugs stopped wearing UM hoops gear when the Final Fours ended...you have a point, and we're ok with that too.
