Door opening

Post by Sky »

We have a dell laptop and while I don't have any major problems there is one thing I wanted to ask you guys. Ocassionally and at very random times the computer makes a sound like a door opening. It happens both when it is being used and also when it is just sitting on the table. I have no idea what it is--there aren't any other side effects (as I can see) I just wondered if you guys had any ideas. Thanks in advance.

yeah, sounds like either an IM client that is on and someone just got on there or left, or that sound may be assigned to some other tasks that runs on its own occasionally.

The general windows sounds can be accessed by going to your Control Panel and opening Sounds and Audio Devices. Then click on the Sounds Tab. This is the place where programs set what sounds they use so you can go down ever event that can have a sound assigned and see if you can find the one that has the door opening/closing.

Either that or the gnomes doing the computer repair work are just going home for the day.
