At least three girls have been shot dead and eight injured by a gunman who opened fire at an Amish school in Pennsylvania, US. The killer - a 32-year-old truck driver named Charles Carl Roberts IV - is dead after taking his own life.
The father-of-three dropped his own children off at a bus stop before heading to the one-room Georgetown School, in rural Lancaster County.
Once there he went inside brandishing two guns and asked the children if they knew what he was carrying.
He took a shotgun, automatic pistol, 600 rounds of ammunition, a bucket, change of clothes, toilet paper and a variety of tools with him - indicating he was ready for a long siege.
He let the 15 boys in the class leave, along with four women. One was the teacher, another was pregnant.
Roberts lined up the girls - aged six to 13 - in front of the blackboard and tied their feet together.
Commissioner Jeffrey B Miller, of Pennsylvania police, said Roberts then shot them "execution-style... firing into the back of the head".
"In my career I've never seen anything like this," he added.
He said officers had surrounded the building late on Monday morning after the teacher raised the alarm.
Roberts had thoroughly barricaded all the doors and they were unable to get in.
He phoned his wife and told her he loved her and would not be coming home.
Officers called his mobile phone to begin negotiations but before they could speak to him he opened fire.
Police then stormed the building to find him and three girls lying dead on the floor.
Eight others were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police said Roberts had earlier told his wife he wanted revenge for an incident that happened 20 years ago.
They said suicide notes he left indicated he was "unhappy with God", but refused to go into any further detail.
"There are multiple injuries. There are multiple casualties. It's a horrible, horrible tragedy," said County Coroner Gary Kirchner.
The attack comes after shootings at two other schools in the US last week.
On Friday, a school principal was gunned down in Cazenovia, Wisconsin.
A 15-year-old student, said to be upset over a reprimand, was charged with murder.
Two days earlier, a gunman held six girls hostage in a school at Bailey, Colorado, before killing a 16-year-old.
He then turned the gun on himself.

Anatheistanajewanabaptist are debating when life begins. The Baptist says life begins at conception, the atheist argues that it begins at birth, while the Jew says life doesn't begin 'til the last kid moves outta the house and the dog dies.smackaholic wrote:wtf is an anabaptist?

The gunman who killed five girls in an Amish schoolroom confided to his wife during the siege that he molested two relatives 20 years ago when he was boy and was tormented by dreams of doing it again, authorities said Tuesday.

I wonder if he will go to heaven or hell???
and what do you think might happen to him if he did go to Hell??

If it were up to the Amish, he would go to Heaven!!
GO FIGURE!!
Roberts, from the nearby town of Bart, was not Amish and did not appear to have anything against the Amish, Miller said. He said Roberts was bent on killing girls and apparently figured he could succeed at the serene schoolhouse.
Dwight Lefever, a Roberts family spokesman, spoke at a community prayer service Tuesday evening and said he was at the home of Roberts' father when an Amish neighbor came to comfort the family.
"He stood there for an hour, and he held that man in his arms, and he said, 'We will forgive you,'" Lefever said. "He extended the hope of forgiveness that we all need these days."
Sam Stoltzfus, 63, an Amish woodworker who lives a few miles away from the shooting scene, said his grandchildren were full of questions when they came home from another Amish school.
"They were terrified," said Stoltzfus, whose son took the grandchildren to school Tuesday morning so they wouldn't have to walk by themselves. "They wanted to know: What was wrong with him? Why was he doing that?"
Stoltzfus said the victims' families will be sustained by their faith.
"We think it was God's plan and we're going to have to pick up the pieces and keep going," he said. "A funeral to us is a much more important thing than the day of birth because we believe in the hereafter. The children are better off than their survivors."

..when his delivery truck was overtaken by a horse and buggy. Ever since that time he dreamt of this happening again, and was driven to the act by something the Republicans will blame on a road-rage incident, rather than the effect of giving someone that is mentally unbalanced enough forearms to start another Waco incident. After all, schoolchildren don't vote, so they don't really matter.
