It was a fumble. He pump-faked and then tried to draw the ball back in. There is no tuck rule in college football and the ball went backwards when it came out. The officials ruled a fumble and the ruling was backed on a replay challenge. I know to some of you pressuring the QB and punter into mistakes seem just like dumb luck, but it's part of the game. Auburn was no more fortunate than SC was to escape with their win. It's not all playstation heroics.

That was a very close call on Leak, but after seeing it a bit better today I agree with the call.Spinach Genie wrote:It was a fumble. He pump-faked and then tried to draw the ball back in. Auburn didn't pressure the punter into the mistake. The drop was soley on him. If he handles the snap cleanly, then the punt is away.

Handling a punt is part of the game. Auburn had an obvious block on and Tristan Davis was coming fast off the outside. They may not have caused him to mishandle the ball, but I'm sure the mental pressure of facing a stacked up punt rush had a little to do with it. Regardless, it's all part of the game. Florida was 'forunate' they didn't have a personal foul facemask, a roughing the passer when their defender went helmet to helmet with Cox as well as pass interference on Dunn...all not getting a call. Both teams played decent offense and solid defense overall, but Auburn made fewer mistakes and capitalized on Florida's.
