Fuck
Peterson injured, out indefinitely
The Oklahoman
OU tailback Adrian Peterson is out indefinitely with a broken collarbone, OU coach Bob Stoops said.
Peterson suffered the injury when dove into the end zone at the end of a 53-yard touchdown run. Stoops said early reports indicate that the earliest Peterson could return would be for potential OU bowl game.

You mean other than the guy that dove into his legs as he was leaving the ground himself...? Yeah, but nobody ELSE touched him...
...although yes, I DO think he could have gotten to the end zone without diving, even if he hadn't jumped, it looked like his momentum would have carried him to 6, but who am I to question how HE runs?

Nah... didn't have anything to do with the defender who had a bit of an angle on AD getting ready to go low on 'im ('sup skully?).War Wagon wrote:Sure looked like a celebration leap into the endzone to me.Ken wrote:Just saw the replay and I kinda take my above image back. The excerpt from the Oklahoman above made it sound like it was a celebration leap into the endzone. It wasn't.
Nobody touched him.

Sorry to hear that about AD.
Here is a question for debate, AD still has not completed a full season in college football.
Is this something NFL scouts will look at and pass on him, meaning drop out of the top 3 picks?
I doubt it, but like I said the only question for AD is his ability to stay healthy for a full season.

Actually looking at all the shitty teams that will likely be in the top 3
Oakland, Tennessee, Detroit, Tampa and Arizona.
Of those Tennessee is the only one I followed and they suck but they are doing ok at RB, these bumbs need Oline WR and everything on defense.
Detroit needs a QB and probably a runningback, I'm guessing the Michigan guys can tell us what they need better than I can.
Oakland, I have no idea, same with Tampa.
Arizona could use a great RB (doubt James has many more years) but they probably need defense a little more.

Which reminds me...
AD steaming towards the goal line, with Baghdad U's "jihad heads" standing between AD and paydirt....Who do you root for there?)

Anybody that cheers ANY injury, especially one to such a talented player, and, for the most part (other than his selling crack, right Austin_Irie?) a good person, is a complete bucket of shit, troll or not. The fact that, after all of the years this forum's been together, you have to hide comments like that behind a shit troll speaks volumes for your pussification.

AD has been a beast, a man among boys type of runner. But his health is a question. He's definately done at the college level. Who knows how far he'll slip. Hell look how well things went on draft day for Magahee (sp).
Big loss for the Sooners, I saw where he was 90+ percent of the rushing attack.

McGahee had a considerably worse injury than Petererson in terms of future play, a broken collarbone heals better than a blown knee. But the sturdiness question could come-up and drop him a couple spots. But he'll still get drafted up towards the top.
Sucks for OU fan, unless AD comes back for a senior season OU won't have gotten a lot out of the AD-era. Looks like another Holiday Bowl. Without Peterson I just don't see them running-the-board and finishing 10-2.
First Bomar now this. Especially bad because this was supposed to be a potential championship year and with a green qb and probably no AD next season I don't see them in the MNC-hunt in 07. If you are an OU it about the hunt for the big-prize, a third year out of that hunt would be a very big deal.

You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
A freaking shame for OU. Mainly because of the fans here, I quietly root for OU. I hate to see a season fucked to due injury, especially to such an asskicker like AD.
I was going to take a trip to Missou this year just to see AD, but 4 new tires prevented me from taking the trip. I never thought I would rack $550 in tires.
It would be cool if AD would come back next year just to prove that can last a full season.

Same here. I've yet to find a "bad" OU fan. I'm sure they're out there but every OU fan I've met or that I've encountered on the internet has been all class.Mainly because of the fans here, I quietly root for OU.
I'm also a Bob Stoops fan. Lotta respect for that guy.

I agree, but I doubt it effects either his draft status or his first contract. He is going in the top 10 and probably top 5, talent wise he is better than Bush because of his ability to get YACs. A team can build their running game around him and the moment he steps on the field defenses will have to give a lot more respect to play action.Cicero wrote:He's talented but his inability to stay healthy will continue on into the Pros, IMO.
M Club wrote:I've seen Phantom Holding Calls ruin a 7-5 team's undefeated season.
Dunno that there's too many NFL Draft watchers who'd say AD is more talented than Bush. Nobody connected with the draft is really describing AD as a once in a generation talent, the way Bush was described by nearly every NFL scout...
Plus, Bush isn't the least bit injury prone.

Bush may be the more all-around talented player, but I'd much rather build a true running game around Peterson. I think there's no question Peterson is a better running back.
Most guys lack at least in one department. This guy literally has it ALL: size, speed, strength, and stamina. That's pretty rare...now if he can only stay healthy, there won't be a coach in the league who wouldn't love to have him.

Regardless of the subject, Vannar is this board's all-time king of having no clue about a given subject, then a few weeks later returning to tell everyone how much he knows about it...ANY subject...been a steady pattern since I first saw him post years ago.Believe the Heupel wrote:Van, no offense man, but you needed the nickname "AD" explained to you.
Dude manages to not know what "AD" stands for, even though it's generally explained at length during...oh, I dunno...every freaking OU game over the last 3 seasons. Unfamiliarity with "AD" would lead one to logically conclude that the person has never seen much in the way of OU games.
But, it would be out of character for Van to not wax on about his expertise on the subject...the same subject he was asking this board about just a couple of short weeks ago.
And that is why Vannie will always be a laughingstock around here...and a dork.

Since the nicname was given to him when he was 6 years old I wouldn't really put too much stock in the fact they call him "All Day". A better comparison might be Ricky Williams (insert pot joke here). Ricky is a much more physical back but Peterson is faster and probably can survive in the NFL without ramming his head into defenders. His running style reminds me of Eric Dickerson. Mark May compared him to Walter Payton, but Payton only weighed about 216 lbs and was no where near as physical as Peterson.Dinsdale wrote:Regardless of the subject, Vannar is this board's all-time king of having no clue about a given subject, then a few weeks later returning to tell everyone how much he knows about it...ANY subject...been a steady pattern since I first saw him post years ago.Believe the Heupel wrote:Van, no offense man, but you needed the nickname "AD" explained to you.

B-t-H, not any more he isn't. Not last year and not this year. He's nobody's consensus mortgage-the-farm, do-whatever-it-takes-to-get-him consensus #1 pick any longer. He wasn't last year and he's not now.Believe the Heupel wrote:Van, no offense man, but you needed the nickname "AD" explained to you.
AD's been described as a once-in-a-generation type back since he was a junior in high school. That's not a knock on Bush-they're different types of back.
Don't believe me, though. Just type "Adrian Peterson once generation" into Google and check the results yourself.
In terms of drooling NFL scouts and draft pick analysts, no offense but no, he's never drawn the type of consensus "once in a generation talent" hype that Reggie's gotten. He might've been getting it as a junior in high school and maybe even as a freshman at OU but he hasn't been talked about like that for the past two years, not at a Reggie Bush level anyway.

Dins, keep hanging your hat on the stupid nickname thing.
As always with you, it ain't much and it's all you got.
I've seen AD play probably ten times or so by now. Whether or not they specifically referred to him as "AD" or not or whether or not they explained the derivation of the nic is irrelevant. I missed it, if they did. Big deal. It was never important.
I know for a fact though that he's not universally referred to as "AD" by the network broadcasters during his games. It might get mentioned now and then, sure, but it's not like every time he touches the ball Keith Jackson referred to him as "AD". In fact, I don't think KJ ever referred to him that way during a game.
Keep fishing.

Answer one question for me, you fucking idiot --
Which one of us mentioned a "do-whatever-it-takes-to-get-him consensus #1 pick" in regards to...
A guy WHO DIDN'T GO #1?
For the sake of all that is holy, shut the fuck up. Eventually, you're going to go beyond just embarrassing yourself, and will begin to embarrass the entire CFB institution. D3 teams will begin to feel the fallout of your stupidity.
You're making Cicero(who is in fact a great deal more knowledgable and analytical on CFB than yourself) look like a rocket surgeon.
But go ahead and do the standard Vannie spin-your-way-out-of-saying-something-unfuckingbelievably-stupid...it's all you've got.
Dear freaking Zeus, some of the stupidity you spout here MUST be trolling...there's no other explaination.

The 2006 mock draft...just about every last one of 'em.Believe the Heupel wrote:Ooooo-kay, Van. Hey, remind me again which draft Reggie Bush was taken #1 in?
The actual NFL draft saw the GM in Houston lose his job (fired or resigned, take your pick) over that error.
AD's not projected in every single draft analysis to go #1 either, not last year or this year. Reggie was. If AD doesn't go #1 there won't be countless headlines and editorials devoted to the story, wondering what on earth the team with the first pick was even thinking by not taking him #1.AD probably won't go #1 either. The team that drafts #1 probably won't need a running back.
There's no way to deny that by the same point in their college careers Reggie was getting far more hype than AD. For the dregs of the NFL this current NFL season is not constantly being billed as the "AD Lottery", the way last year was with all the "Reggie Lottery" talk...

Huh?For the dregs of the NFL this current NFL season is not constantly being billed as the "AD Lottery", the way last year was with all the "Reggie Lottery" talk...
Last year, I don't recall any of my numerous football-freak friends hoping their shitty NFL rooting interest tanked it to get Reggie...not a single mention. Not in a sports bar, not around the "water cooler," not anywhere. Sure, the cellar-dweller fans would have been thrilled to have him, sure. This season, right up until yesterday afternoon, that's all that's been talked about, week in, week out. Matter of fact, we referred to the Niners/Raiders game as "The Adrian Peterson Bowl"...something I believe I even made mention of last week.
Here's a suggestion -- if being called an "idiot" bothers you, then not being a fucking uninformed idiot would probably be a good countermeasure.
