I was thinking that as I read it. Charlie is projecting his love of cheeseburgers onto others.

You can't say Charlie Weis = Mack Brown until you see Oklahoma on the other sideline and a brown stain on Charlie's backside.

right...and Charlie also doesn't have an ADT Trophy.

Nice Try M2. Cal is going to get screwed again this year. Then you can go to the Poulan Weedeater bowl and lose to Baylor.

I agree w/ Weis. This SEC bias has to stop. They are a very good conference but they arent the NFC South.

I agree with Weis 100%, he is stupid. Texas leap frogged him because
1. Beating Nebraska was a high quality road win
2. margin of victory is no longer considered
3. pollsters know Nebraska is still a tough place to play.

This year I think the SEC deserves the respect it gets. They have 4 schools that would either win or be a contender in every other conference in the BCS.

Why's it gotta be an either/or situation?

Vito, are you fucking serious about the SEC? They don't have a team that would be leading the B10 or Pac10. And if the pollsters know that Neb is a tough place to play, do they know UCLA is a top 10 defense?

...and $C went down the the last play vs. an average WSU team and got lucky, then they got lucky vs. an average Washington team because they can't tell time, then they were 2+ TD favorites vs. a shitty ASU team and were tied into the 4th quarter. So ND had to struggle to win a couple of games. So has condom u.

Do you really believe that Texas, USC Michigan or tOSU would go undefeated if they had to play LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee? I don't. And if they did it would make them a pretty tough team to beat in the BCS championship game.

ucla is a top 10 defense?????

lets take a gander at the ucla schedule:

they have played 3 decent to good teams

they have given up almost 27pts per, and gave up 320 yards+ to these opponents, some tough defense :meds:

:meds: :meds:

you cant play cripple teams like stanford, utah, rice, arizona, etc every week. top 10 defense, get the fuck out of here, even you should realize those stats are weak, and after they play the rest of the schedule, they will be lucky to be in top40, if that high. they arent even in the top20 in points against, talk about overrated defense.

...But we're suposed to bow down and give credence to the statistical rankings of teams like Nebraska, Auburn, W. Virginia and Texas, ie, teams that to date have compiled their stats largely on the backs of three and in some cases four OOC cupcakes along with an additional conference cupcake or two...

Can't do the same (and to a lesser extent) for UCLA though? Gotcha. Seems fair.

:meds:

Now, I'm not saying UCLA is in fact a top ten or top twenty D. I highly doubt it, in fact. Thing is though, if you're going to give any of these completely bogus statistical rankings any credence at all you've got to then also give UCLA's rankings equal credence. I'm pretty sure W. Virginia's stats are no more valid than UCLA's and McNeese St, Troy and Sam Houston St certainly stack up no better than UCLA's opponents either.

Either call a spade a spade and honestly declare that most all the statistical rankings are complete bullshit at this point or give UCLA credit for their ranking, same as you would for Missouri, your Big XII brethren or anybody else whose schedule so far has been liberally littered with steaming piles of refuse...

Everyone wants to beat each other off about how good the SEC is when they don't realize that the reason their defenses look so good is because there are only about 2 teams in the entire fucking league that can field a decent offense.

The SEC is usually the top conference in college football. This year, they are at best second, but more likely third.

Didn't anyone take statistics in college? Outliers can make any statistic bogus. Take the average household income of an average neighborhood and it will likely be pretty close to the median income, but lets say that one of those people was Bill Gates then the average income would be in the millions but the median would be a much more accurate display of what the real average is.

If you want to find a closer look at how good a defense is it might be better if you first checked for outliers and then if there are none use the average if there are you should use the median or remove the outliers.

I can already tell you that with Texas the median is a more accurate display of how good their offense and defense are.

i don't know about that Killian. you are almost making the argument that Wazzou is better than all those teams...USC has looked human at times.

Texas: probably not, but possible
USC: maybe
Michigan: maybe (Vandy covered against Mich)
OSU: very good chance

I will say the usual argument the SEC makes is that "top-to-bottom" it's the strongest....but that's not true this year. Miss St. Ole Miss, Kentucky suck out loud and Vandy is a rocking Commodore team but still looking at 5 wins.

I could see the argument the Big 10 has as being the best conference but not anyone else. The big 10 is two giants and 9 dwarfs, the Pac 10 is one giant and 2 good teams and 7 dwarfs, the ACC is all dwarfs, and the Big 12 is one very good team 2 good teams and 9 dwarfs. The Big east is 2 good teams and the rest dwarfs.

The SEC is probably 2 great teams and two very good teams with the rest being dwarfs. At worst the SEC is the 2nd best conference I still think they are the best hands down this year.

^^^^^^^^^Auburn and FLA are pretty good if you ask me

but down in here in Charlotte everyone has a hard on for the SEC based on history of them being the strongest, having the fastest players, etc...whatever

i mean every conference has their teams that are strong and weak but KY, vandy, ole miss, miss state are generally horrible much like IU, NW, etc in the Big 10 and baylor, kansas etc from the Big 12...

obviously I am biased but I think tOSU would have a good chance at running the SEC table...but then again what do I know (answer NOT MUCH)...

Auburn has no offense. If that is one of the "great" teams Vito is talking about, then the SEC doesn't have two "great" teams. Auburn wouldn't win the Big 10, the Pac 10, and maybe not the Big 12 or Big East.

Vito, there's no way so far this season that you can call 6-1 Wisconsin a "dwarf". They're at least as good on the field so far as two loss OU or two loss Nebraska. If you're counting those two teams as "good" then you have to count Wisconsin as "good" too...

I've seen 2 or 3 Wisconsin games on TV this year. They're a very good and balanced football team with an experienced senior QB. Their lone loss is versus Michigan, but everyone else they've played, they've crushed.
