Is there a worse stadium name in America? It's not only commercial, it's hokey AND it's terrible pizza. Papa Freakin Johns.

I guess you're new to college fb ...well, to football in general. Is the ill-chosen corporate name of a stadium really that surprising at this late hour?

What's next? Your suggestion that CFB adopt a playoff system?

The tunel will be retired soon enough, but Gaylord lasts forever.

^^^^^^ Knew that one had to come out....heh, heh. Gaylord? OU's football stadium? Gaylord must be pretty big....I think they have the hockey arena in Nashville. And yes, I'm too lazy to look it up. But corporate naming rights are hardly new. The first one I can recall is the Carrier Dome in Syracuse back in the early 80's. Uh, monte....money talks. Louisville had a tough time coming up with the final funding for that stadium when it was proposed (they sure as hell wouldn't now) and Papa Johns, a Louisville company, kicked in the last $30M for it. But you're right...it's a dopey name/lousy pizza....AND the stadium ain't much better. Fans are awesome, though. They take their bourbon seriously. What other college venue not only sells beer but mixed drinks, too?

Mixed drinks at a college function? It doesn't surprise me that a school from Kentucky would be the one doing it. It seem like every person I have ever known from Kentucky had a real drinking problem, especially around Derby Day.

Just sayin.

They sell alcohol, including hard alcohol, at the stadium for college events? Far out.

Shut up.

Btw, the journalism school there also was named after that freak family -- probably the biggest irony in the history of "honorary contributions" to humanity, given that The Oklahoman, which they've owned for decades, was named the worst newspaper in America, at least in 1999, by the Columbia Journalism Review -- basically, the New England Journal of Medicine, for journalists -- before the stadium was renamed.

Sorry, fellow Sooners, but it had to be said.

The Gaylord "family" is a complete embarrassment to this entire state, along with David Boren (former U.S. Senator and current president of OU), who is the biggest whore in the state, just for allowing the stadium to be renamed.

Disagree with you on Boren. OU has made huge strides as an academic institution since his presidency.
Boren has been a fundraiser on 'roids for us, that's what a college president does, bro.

And given that he's raised a lot of money for OU, he sold out, in the winter and spring, the stadium. Sacred Ground, for a lot of us, but the stadium nonetheless.

Thankfully, most journalists don't refer to it as "Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium."
