Fuggit, I'm calling my shot.
All of you picking LSU -3 will be sorry you did.
True story...
While attending a golf function this week in Baton Rouge LSU's DC guaranteed an LSU win to the assembled throng. He also said Ainge either won't play at all or he'll barely be able to play and it'll be a game time decision. He said that media reports of Ainge practicing this week are false and Fulmer's just throwing up a smoke screen when he said Ainge did in fact practice and complete nearly all his practice assignments.
I was already torn on that game when I made my pick. My first impulse was to take LSU. Then I thought, "LSU won't score enough to beat Tennessee on the road.", and that's what I picked. Now I'm even more torn. Thing is, nope, I know I'm fucked if I change my pick so if I switch over to LSU now I know I'll be doomed...
One weird thing about this game. Two loss LSU is favored by three over one loss Tennessee in Neyland? Ainge's status has to be the only reason.

How the hell would the LSU DC know what is happening in the Tenn practice? BTW when teams are this closely matched in the SEC it is usually smarter to go with the home team.Van wrote:True story...

That's what I did; went with the home team.
As for knowing what goes on in other teams' practices, I'm guessing it's not that uncommon to use spies who could at least tell whether or not a certain player is participating...
Take this info for what you will. It comes from my buddy in Baton Rouge. He's an LSU alum/season ticket holder who goes to a lot of practices and he's a golf pro at a local course in Baton Rouge. He told me last night that the LSU DC was there at his course and that's what the DC told a group of people there.
My buddy was pretty hyped about the DC's "guarantee" of an LSU victory and he said it was mostly the result of the DC's knowledge that Ainge hasn't practiced this week and he either won't play at all or he'll be very limited in how and how much he plays. That was the main thing.
Again, take it for what you will...
Myself, I'll stick with my Tennessee pick. I like LSU to find a way to fuck up and I like Tennessee getting points at home here against a team who usually struggles to score.

Dude, I think we'll let you live if you're wrong. When all is said and done we're all wrong, close to 50% of the time.
That being said, yeah, if knew to a certainty that Ainge wasn't going to play then I'd have to go with LSU and give the points. Just can't see a redshirt freshman backup QB getting anything done against that LSU D and I don't see Tennessee's rushing game being able to take up enough of the slack...

Sorry, bros. I got so into the game, I thought some fake m2 would be into it, and I started another thread, which is now trashed.
Btw, FUCK LSU.

Btw, FUCK LSU.

Mgo, we lost that cover when Tennessee's kicker shanked that short FG attempt to leave the spread on the potential LSU 4 point win...
Ainge going down early, never to return, that certainly didn't help matters either.
Compared to Thursday night's game it sure was nice to see athletes on both sides of the ball. LSU's D makes the sure tackles. They string the sweeps out with all that speed. They usually fill the gaps.
Solid, solid defense. Flaky offense but that's a good defense.
One thing I'm wondering now though? With this second SEC loss is SEC still on track to run away with the SEC title, like m2 guaranteed ("Mark my words!") after Tennessee ruined Cal?
Couple more losses and they ought to wrap up not just the SEC title but also the BCS title, Cal style, right?

The shanked FG wasn't an issue after UT regained the lead late in the 4th, and all they had to do was prevent LSU from scoring on a freaking 80 yard drive, including stopping them on 4th down. They didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary, just keep LSU out of the endzone. Couldn't do it. Fucking LSU's offense. Couldn't stop 'em from taking it down the field in their house of 100,000-plus. Fucking pathetic.
Mgo, well, yeah, obviously, but as soon as Tennessee shanked that gimme FG I was thinking, "Fuck, there goes our easy cover. LSU is just one TD away from a 4 point cover...", and that's exactly what happened. Instead of the game going to 1's and 6's where we would be comfortable with a three point spread it stayed on 4's and 3's and there it was, a 4 point LSU cover staring us in the face...

I sweat that shit. Oh yes, I sweat that shit. I go all TV Colorman on myself...
"Mark that play down! THAT play will end up being the difference, THAT one! Right there!"
It could be an offsides on the game's opening kickoff.
I'll never move to Vegas.

Hey, Van Fouts, don't think you're gonna leave the dealership Monday without paying me in cash, Subway sandwiches, or the tip of your left pinky.Van wrote:I sweat that shit. Oh yes, I sweat that shit. I go all TV Colorman on myself...

See, Socal, here's the deal...
First off, we're closed on Mondays.
But that's not important.
No, what IS important is that I'm currently on a three week vacation. (We're heading to Louisiana this week to first see New Orleans for a few days and then we're headed up to Baton Rouge to hang out with a friend there who's been bugging me forever about how I HAVE TO SEE AN LSU GAME IN PERSON, IN DEATH VALLEY!!! So, next week we'll be in Tiger Stadium, to see LSU-'Bama.)
Anyway, because I won't be there to do lunches for a few weeks ST and I agreed to suspend our weekly "Pick 'Em" results lunch bet deal until I get back.
Yes, we actually talked about it beforehand.
So, even though I completely took the pipe yesterday and ST got his first "Pick 'Em" win over me this season that smug fugger can just go ahead and buy his own goddamned gyros!! Mwuuuahahahaha!!!
