horrible move
the ncst job is a better gig.
this guy could get any job that he wanted(open vacancy) and he actually beat good teams, won a national title, and turned hurrigangsta university around. he brought it respect, the thuggery days were over.
a couple nice jobs could be open, why take one now??? he waited all this time for the nc job??

Like TiC siad, UNC has a couple badass recruiting classes in or coming in. Any coach that takes that job would be in decent shape for the first couple years at least, as long as he could get a little effort out of his players, unlike Bunting. And for Christs sake, get rid of Joe Dailey. Why the fuck would anyone want anything to do with NCSt?

True, but having said that, we're still a few months away from signing day. A lot can happen between now and then, and programs that make coaching changes around this time are especially vulnerable to decommits.stuckinia wrote:Like TiC siad, UNC has a couple badass recruiting classes in or coming in.

Michigan St and UCLA are two programs with recently departed or soon to be departing head coaches. Both programs offer more upside for football than North Carolina.
Hell, even the soon to be available Stanford gig is more attractive. Stanford just got a beautiful new stadium, they're in the Pac10, the football program isn't genetically predisposed to taking a back seat to hoops and, unlike, say, Cal, Stanford's actually been to a Rose Bowl in recent memory.
Stanford's also a coaching hotbed and a great stepping stone program.
N.C., for a guy with Davis' resume? Weird choice.

I didn't really expect him to return to Miami, but at-least now I can be sure of it. Eat a dick canes.
I'm not sure either why he went with this choice, IMO he could win more quickly at a UCLA but I'm sure he must have saw potential at NC. I don't get into the "football or basketball" school stuff so-much. If he wasn't convinced NC was in-it to win I don't see him going there. It is football for piss-sakes, if you put a good product out folks will come. Hell Neb-fans supported the basketball team well when we were worth a dang and Creighton regularly fills their 14,500-seat arena.
He was waiting for the Ark-job but now that Nutt has gotten out of his slump that job won't be open for a while. I think he wanted to stay down-south

Why are all you posting folks talking about UCLA needing a coaching change? We have our coach. We hired him to run our program without any previous head coaching experience, and chose him over a small list of candidates that had losing records in their previous positions.
We were able to get 10 wins last season, many by ekeing out last minute victories and having lesser stats. Granted be quit and got ass raped by last place finishing Arizona, and we tripped on our dicks coming out of the tunnel vs. Usc, but we did show up.....
As for myself, it is true that my previous job was AD at a school that didn't have a football team, but what does that matter? My experiment in keeping Lavin for a couple of years proved that even with our signature program, basketball, our fans will tolerate horrible coaching and mediocrity, for long periods of time.
Pay no attention to those other "basketball schools" like Louisville that for some reason find it necessary or even advantageous to excel in more than one marquee sport........
Besides, I got some valuable advice from Terry Donahue during my coaching search - and we all can see the "contributions" he made for the SF 49ers......
So please, I am asking that not comment any more regarding possible coaching changes at UCLA for our "football program"....I got who I wanted, for what I wanted, and my boss, the Chancellor, tells me he gets misty-eyed every time a sentimental piece is aired showing some testimonial that UCLA is the school of Jackie Robinson, Arthur Ashe, Angela Davis, and now, our featured black coach - Karl Lav//errrrrrrr Dorrell.......
Thanks for your heeding my request,
Sincerely,
