Saddam: Found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging

Just in time for the elections...not that Saddam being found guilty has anything to do with who I'm voting for governor of Michigan this Tuesday.

Piano wire accomplishes the same thing and is biodegradable.Bobby42 wrote:Death by hanging.
I would recommend razor-sharp nylon cord. Saddam would slice real good.

This won't happen anytime soon.
There will be appeals..
The case will be automatically appealed to the Appellate Chamber of the Iraqi High Tribunal. The defense has 30 days to file any motions.
There is no limit to how long the appeals process can take.
many more judges, lawyers and related people mysteriously dying to slow things down.
My take is that Saddam WILL NOT be HUNG!!
He will die an OLD MAN!! We have not seen the last of Saddam. He will be in the news throughout the next President's term!

Although our rivals will cry foul over the timing of the announcement, this is going to give us incredible momentum over the next week and may be the tipping point for a close-run victory and the stabilisation of the old order.

Everyone please read this to truly understand the absolute fucking retardness of those that are "self proclaimed" Republicans.Jack wrote:So, How many virgins does Saddam get after he dies??
Here's a clue Jack. Saddam isnt a radical Muslim and isnt the type of Muslim that would declare Jihad on the United States. Here I will tell you how I feel about Saddam. He's a sick fuck and I could give a shit about him.
Now label me a Liberal and tell me how much I want to spoon with Saddam.
Fucking ignorant child, grow the fuck up and go educate yourself you lazy sack of shitskin.
I fucking suck.

No way. Too many people are questioning this case, and most of Europe is against capital punishment, so you know they will step up to stop it. There will be something that occurs that will stop the proceedings.
And Fuck bush for trying to swing the election his parties way by having the verdict read two days before the election. Shows how desperate they are.

Now that the Shiites no longer fear any Saddam inspired reprisal, it's "game on" America.

Yes, and hardly any convicted criminals on Death Row ever get religion at the last minute.mvscal wrote:Yes, of course. All secular Muslims give a rousing chorus of "Allahu Akbar!!!" when their death sentence is handed down.

It would appear the only wild card here is the case review process. The death sentences automatically go to a nine-judge appeals panel, which has unlimited time to review the case. If the verdicts and sentences are upheld, the executions must be carried out within 30 days.
A court official told The Associated Press that the appeals process was likely to take three to four weeks once the formal paperwork was submitted. If the verdicts are upheld, those sentenced to death would be hanged despite Saddam's second, ongoing trial for allegedly murdering thousands of Iraq's Kurdish minority.
Still, nothing ever goes the way it was intended over there. If he is hanged within 60 days, I'll be surprised. I wouldn't put a prison break out of the realm of possibility in that lawless shithole.

148 people?
So the 300,000 number turned out to be bullshit? Doesn't seem so evil to me.
It's odd that such a minor 'evil' person would stir up the emotions of people who live on the other side of the planet and have really nothing to do with him - particularly when he hasn't killed any more people than the odd, hitchiker - kidnapper maniac you occasionally read about. And even then not proven by any existant decree.
You'd think he had killed the cat of everyone on this board personally.

148 people killed is what he was tried and convicted of, Phibes.
Nice try.
Not really.
I watched the CNN video of the verdict-reading.
Saddam first refused to stand up, but then did ........ and proceeded to bark and bitch at the judge throughout the few-minute reading of the verdict.
WTF is that all about .... ?
Gag him with a tongue-depressor.

It's safe to say there are questions regarding interference in the trial which are yet unproven, but should be investigated in the interest of fairness and due process.
And the 300,000 number comes from popular media myth and would be consistant with the level of hatred directed at Hussein by the American population as a genocidal maniac. 148 people is nothing to get excited about.

Well, google 'Saddam Hussein 300,000'.
You will come up with a mountain of articles from a mass cross-section of the mainstream media. Every major periodical is there, accusing Saddam of killing 'roughly 300,000' people.
I believe this has had a massive effect on shaping your perceptions upon the 'evilness' of Hussein when the truth of the matter is - he hasn't really done anything unusually horrible. At least not enough to warrant a 'liberation'.
It's a bit like:
Kim Jung-Il likes Cognac
Slobidan Milosovic killed 250,000 people
And for the trial - read the foreign press, there are issues regarding the dismissal of judges. This should be investigated.

Because they want to get him on something - anything - and then off him as quickly as possible. Heaven forfend we actually get the full story from the horses mouth about what really happened in Iraq, as it would implicate a shitload of people and businesses.Dr_Phibes wrote:Yes, but if you've killed over 300,000 people - the evidence should be fairly obvious. Why has he only been 'convicted' under dubious circumstances for only 148 people?

You sure ... ?
He attempted to take over Kuwaiit.
What would you call that ... ?
Btw, what warranted the 'liberation' was the fact that Saddam was in violation of his cease-fire agreement.
When a cease-fire agreement is violated, guess what ... ?
Go time.

I understand that, but also - by throwing in the suppression of the Shiite uprising, you are implying a crime when there wasn't any. Calling the suppression of an armed insurrection in the employ of a foreign power a crime is disingenuous at best - that is sedition.. it's also myth making and propaganda.Nishlord wrote:

Just call a spade a spade, let's be done with this noble intention shiite.

Read it.
July 25th 1990 dialogue between Saddam Hussein and U.S, Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie:
GLASPIE: "I think I understand this. I have lived here for years. I admire your extraordinary efforts to rebuild your country. I know you need funds. We understand that and our opinion is that you should have the opportunity to rebuild your country. But we have no opinion on the Arab-Arab conflicts, like your border disagreement with Kuwait."

What? Is this your retort that Saddam is a radical muslim?mvscal wrote:Gunslinger wrote: Saddam isnt a radical Muslim and isnt the type of Muslim that would declare Jihad on the United States.Yes, of course. All secular Muslims give a rousing chorus of "Allahu Akbar!!!" when their death sentence is handed down. While clutching his Quran the ousted leader, trembling and defiant, shouted "God is great!" as the judge handed down the verdict.
Unfortunately, this means another trip to the hospital for the nearest female as you vent your frustration at your pitifully inadequate intellectual endowment. Perhaps a return to leehotti.com is in order. They are more your speed.
What was the evidence that you believed as fact for Saddam bombing Oklahoma City? He read a newsarticle?
I know why you avoid responding to me, youre fucking retarded.
