One could make a very long list of things that Christ advocated ...... or someone thinks He advocated, or what He might have advocated ......

And a lot of those things are noble things, good things, things to be desired .... etc

Jesus didn't say that He was going to build His church on those things.
He said He was going to build it upon those who recognize that He is the Christ.

The folks who witnessed Him resurrected began building the church (believers) on that, that He is the risen Christ.

If the Quakers, for instance, REALLY understood that He is the Christ then that is what they would focus on.

Instead they speak of their own ideologies.

There are a scant few (percentage-wise) American churches who have things in focus.

I see. So rather than striving to further the ideas that Christ espoused, they should instead worship the Christ himself, and discount his ideas?

I think you're a bit confused about Christ's message. Or isn't his message important? Christ is just a cult of personality?

Worship the Christ first, yes, and the rest takes it's place.

The mesage of Christ, the very core message of the entire Bible, is that He solves our fundamental problem.
That being that we are born sinful, separated from God, influenced by satan, and bound for curses and death.

Cult of personality is actually a very interesting way to speak of it.
Not entirely correct, but not all that far off either ... in a way.

Our views on the 'church' are different for a couple of reasons.

1. You don't hide the fact that you don't believe in Jesus Christ.

2. Your vision of church is based on what most all of us are used to seeing.

Upon that rock (those who know that Jesus is the Christ) He said He would build his church.
So what you're saying is that those who believe are rocks, and have had whatever sense they may have ever had crushed out of them by the weight of the church built upon them?

People who have decided that they already know everything, and then ascribe that pig-headishness to Christianity, or any other belief system, do not have my respect.

A failure to consider perspective is what is behind zealotry worldwide, be it in the Christian US, or in Karachi hate schools. It is the ability to shut out the perspective of others that results in horrors like 9/11, or the Sack of Constantinople.

I believe it is wrong to surrender to an unconsidered, unmeasured dogma.

So the Second Coming consisted of Jesus coming back as Marcus Allen?
