You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
I don't see the point of the rankings now...it comes down to just a few game dictating the whole thing.
What I know:
-3 major games will determine who will play in the Shamorama Bowl (BSC title game)
-Michigan and Ohio State won't be eliminated with a loss Saturday
-Notre Dame and Arkansas should be rooting for losses to Ohio State and USC respectively for them to get in the title chase
-Teams that are pretty much screwed even if they win out: Rutgers, Boise State, Wake Forest
-One loss teams that have no influence on the matter: Wisconsin, West Virginia (even if they beat Rutgers), Louisville
-Anyone with two losses should just be playing out the string but could still be spoilers (ie--California-USC, LSU-Arkansas)
After yesterday or "Elimination Saturday", there are only 6 teams left fighting for two spots...Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, Florida, Arkansas. You can eliminate the losers from the USC-Notre Dame and Florida-Arkansas games but as I said, I don't think either Michigan or Ohio State is eliminated with a loss to each other on Saturday thus still keeping the possibility alive for a rematch if the numbers fall the right way.

this thread PROVES that you big ten faggotts are truly STUPID.
did you put florida as the no. 3 team? did you watch football yesterday? I did.
I watched as florida barely squeaked by and was lucky to beat a piece of shit s. carolina team,
in the swamp no less.
and you have florida listed as the third best team in the entire country?
this is what I mean about you stupid shit-for-brains big ten faggotts,
YOU ARE CLUELESS.

Same arguement about someone having to be a fuckin idiot to rank Auburn ahead of Arkansas after what Arkansas did to Auburn in Auburns house has to apply doubly to ANYONE who would rank Arkansas ahead of USC
Arkansas beat Auburn by 17 at Auburn
USC beat Arkansas by 36 at Arkansas
Its the same thought process that gave Alabama a share of the 1978 title when USC went to Birmingham and kicked the Tides teeth in their own house.
When teams have the same record and have played one another, the winner is the better of the two team, especially if the winner won the game on the road

I guess that would give me something in common with the AP, USA Today/CNN, Harris Interactive and BCS polls.

No, they're not definitive to me. I used them only to refute your argument that my failure to include Oklahoma in the Top 15 was some sort of huge oversight.
Between my polls and those rankings, there are some similarities and some differences. Then again, you'd find that with just about anyone else who has posted rankings in this thread as well. Speaking of which, where are yours?

When we just saw in back-to-back weeks...Louisville beat West Virginia and Rutgers beat Louisville...how does that make West Virginia the best team in the conference. After seeing those two results, that would make West Virginia the third best team. We'll see when the Mountaineers face the Knights head-to-head if you're hypothesis is correct or not.

Simple answer is both Louisville and Rutgers played those games at home. WVU gets Rutgers in Morgantown this season. Yes, Rutgers is the #1 team in the Big East now, but they have yet to play WVU.Shoalzie wrote:When we just saw in back-to-back weeks...Louisville beat West Virginia and Rutgers beat Louisville...how does that make West Virginia the best team in the conference. My favorite comment over the weekend was when Mark May said that WVU was the best one loss team in the country. When Davis asked him about Louisville, he said that it was WVU and we didn't get to see how good WVU really is because they turned the ball over so much. His quote, "I mean, they had 3 fumbles!"
Great job as always, Mark.

Well then by that logic, I think Michigan will win Saturday so does that make them the best team in the Big Ten and the #1 team in the nation? The game hasn't happened yet, these polls are supposed to based on what has happened up to this point...not forecast the next few weeks. I see you working though...Rutgers will have a tough game in Morgantown to keep their slight Shamorama Bowl hopes still alive. Who's to say the results from the last two big games in the Big East wouldn't be different if they were played in the other team's stadium...the bottom line is the results speak for themselves right now and to me, Rutgers is the best team in the Big East because no one has beaten them.

Shoalzie, the last line of my post said Rutgers is the #1 in the Big East right now. There is no disputing that fact. I probably watch more Big East games than most, so I have seen enough of both teams to this point. Rutgers is good, but I feel WVU is better.Shoalzie wrote:Well then by that logic, I think Michigan will win Saturday so does that make them the best team in the Big Ten and the #1 team in the nation? It will be tough for Rutgers to win at Morgantown. If they do, their case for the BCS will greatly strengthen.
WVU's defense is poor. Their offense is good, although they've suffered from the injury bug. Rutgers has no passing game, but their running game and their defense are very good. It seems to me that they have a chance, but on the road, under so much pressure...it's going to be tough. Currently WVU is #8 in the BCS, if that hold up for the matchup, and Rutgers can win, that will be a positive for them.

Why do so many rate Notre Dame so high? Above USC and Arkansas and Rutgers? They do have the one win against Georgia Tech. But USC has convincing wins against Arkansas, Oregon and NEbraska. Arkansas has wins against Tennessee and Auburn. Rutgers beat Louisville. Their lone loss came to Michigan, same as Wisconsin. Don't get me wrong, they are a very good team, top 10, but how can anyone have them in the top 5?

- Their only loss is to Michigan.
- Their seven-game win streak is tied for second-longest in the country among one-loss teams, behind only Arkansas (nine games) and tied with Wisconsin.
- They benefitted greatly from last week. They were ranked #9 last week and moved up when Louisville, Texas, Auburn and Cal (all ranked ahead of ND last week) lost. They didn't leapfrog anyone who won last week, nor did anyone leapfrog them.
