Well here is another way to look at things.

OU is not just playing to beat Okie st tomorrow, they are also up against Texas.

There are major recruiting implications with the possibilites of BCS bowls.

The win or loss has thrice importance, if I may say the last being...

An OU win means an old fuck you to the whole state of Texas and the OU/NU rivalry renewed!

The OU/NU rivalry was built-on playing for high stakes. When the stakes aren't high it just isn't the same. It isn't like Texas/OU or Texas/ATM where no-matter-what emotions are running high. While I would snicker a bit if OU blew-it against OSU I would also like so see NU and OU playing-for-it-all like old times.

Well, let's be honest here, folks...

Nebraska is a three loss team which lost all three big games they played this season. They're going to play either a D.O.A. three loss Texas team or a no big deal two loss OU team in a dismal conference's CCG for the right to play Boise St in a Fiesta Bowl which will easily be one of this post season's two most ignored major BCS bowl games.

So, no, this isn't exactly "playing-for-it-all like old times"...

How does our loss at OSU count as a big game and our win at ATM not count genius? ATM was ranked and OSU wasn't. OU would be a one-loss team and still in the MNC-mix if not for a blatant screwjob by your conference's shitty officials. Plus don't even start dysmal conference-smack when your con never gets two teams in the major bowls.

For fuck's sake, Van, you're generally at least coherent, but sometimes you sound like Schmick with a high-school education.
B-t-H, please. Compared to OU-Nebraska games of "old times" this season's Big XII title game (regardless of who gets in now from the South) in NO way rates.

"Winning-it-all" between those three teams (OU/Nebraska/Texas) used to mean completing a perfect regular season and earning a shot at the national title. It didn't mean surviving a conference cripple fight with the winner getting Boise St in a game with zero BCS implications and nearly zero national interest.

Fact. Deal with it. Instead of bitching at the messenger maybe you ought to just sit down, shut the fuck up and humbly accept that winning the Big XII this season means precisely fuckall compared to what it meant in year's past...which is all I'm saying.

I'm getting awfully tired of P.C. bitches around here who can't accept a spade being called a spade. Look, YOUR little achievements often times simply don't matter much to the rest of the nation. Winning the ACC this year? BFD. The Big East? Same? The WAC? The MEAC?

Try to dress it up anyway you want but nobody....gives...a...crap. The Big XII is equally irrelevant this season. OU/Nebraska/Texas, in season's past, playing in the CCG with three losses apiece?? Boise St, as their bowl game opponent?

Flush that season, for all of 'em. They'd all just want to forget it. It's beneath 'em.

Fuck, B-t-H, with the way you can't accept this it's almost like I have more respect for OU/Nebraska/Texas than you do...

Van... shut the fuck up!!!

You lost to Oregon State!!!

Hell, we played you even for 3 1/2 quarters with our heads up our ass, and getting screwed by the PAC 10 officials.

My apologies to everyone for letting the crazy cousin(Van) out for College Football season.

Nebraska, OU, and Texas are very good teams that could beat any team in the country on a given day/night.

Vannie, you do remember the Rose Bowl last year??? When you talked shit about Texas???

Nebraska considers games against USC, OU and Texas to be big games.

Nebraska considers games against Okie St and Texas A&M to be schedule filler.

I made one error there. I forgot that one of Nebraska's losses was to Okie St, not OU. So, in reality, Nebraska's only played two big games this season, and they lost 'em both. They also lost a third game to a conference doormat.

Like I said, apparently I have more respect for OU/Nebraska/Texas than you Big XII honks do. I obviously expect more of the Big XII's elite than you do. I'm not about to call Okie St a big game loss and I'm not about to call A&M a big game win. A real Nebraska team rolls 'em both easily, as expected.

A real Nebraska team would consider this season already over, for all intents and purposes. They lost their only two big games and they even managed to lose a third game to Okie St, of all people. More damning still, they flat out turtled against USC. They played scared, for all the nation to see. All in all this season would be viewed by normal Big Red standards as a catastrophe, a downright train wreck. A real OU or Texas team would've left such a Nebraska team in the dust. Such a Nebraska team would normally be relegated to watching Colorado or even K State lining up to get mugged by OU or Texas in the CCG.

Instead, we have a three loss Texas team still thinking they have a shot to play a three loss Nebraska team for the right to play Boise St.

Why?

Because it's not even a lock that OU will beat Okie St to earn a shot at the CCG.

Texas, having to hope for Okie St, in order for them to have a shot at a three loss team in a CCG....in order to earn a bowl game shot at a team from Idaho.

Trainwrecks everywhere, nothing but trainwrecks. Can't believe it takes a USC fan to see it that way. Can't believe a Big XII fan could see it any other way. What's the world coming to when USC fan has higher expectations than Big XII fan for the Big XII's elite??

Sad.

m2, I think Joelyn's calling you...

Something about, "Being a Cal fan like you are, and the most classless poor loser on the board to boot, hey, maybe you need this rope more than I do..."

Also, no, you didn't play us even for 3 1/2 quarters. You got shut out from the second quarter forward. You got dominated statistically and on the scoreboard and then you got dismissed. You also didn't get screwed by the officials. They got every reviewed call correct. You were simply begging, hoping for the refs to bail you out by making bad calls that went your way.

Didn't happen. They got it right in each instance.

Complaining afterwards about the calls, like you got screwed? Saying you were in the game for 3 1/2 quarters?

Watch football much? You cunt your way along in here like a whiny middle school brat who only watches football so that you can get the star QB to assfuck you after the prom.

B-t-H, nothing I've ever said would ever lead anybody who doesn't have an agenda to say I only follow USC. That's utter bullshit and you know it.

Just because I have more respect and higher expectations than you do for the Big XII's elite programs doesn't mean I don't follow them and it doesn't mean you're not being a total bitch right now. It's normally not like you to be a bitch like this but hey, that's exactly what you're being right now when you can't accept people telling you this season's conference championship doesn't stack up to "old times", which is what Danimal originally said; which is the only point I'm refuting.

Sorry, pal. It doesn't. This season sucks by Big XII champion standards, period. This season sucks by Big XII standards, period. Hearing this may not make you happy but it doesn't make the messenger any less observant and it doesn't make him any less correct.

Face it: Some years, winning the Big XII means a lot. This year, it won't mean nearly as much. It'll mean a trophy, and a big BCS paycheck, and little else. It usually means so much more, in The Big Picture.

Are you really going to continue to sit there and deny this??

You know, both Van and BtH are in the right. An OU/NU game for the Big 12 Title would be HUGE for NU, OU, and Big 12 fans but probably wouldn't register for the rest of the country. I wish there were higher stakes but there aren't

Still, as a college football fan, you have to get excited about a great rivalry game for a conference championship. Especially since this would be the first time OU and NU have both made it to the CCG.

IF, IF, IF OU beats lOSUr.

The conference championship games don't matter anyway.
They were supposed to give teams that last push in the polls before the bowl selections.
Now they're used to give the sports writers another reason to choose their fair-haired boys.

In the old days the OU/Neb game was a can't miss game every year. I remember always watching these classics from beginning to end. The formation of the Big 12 ruined this once great (top 3) rivalry.

USC lost to a garbage program (this is college football....it happens) and now stand on the outside looking in. A win over ND and they will have even more bitter fodder to chew. USC "fans" are probably digging out the Laker gear already.

Meanwhile, the Big 12 is abuzz the last couple days with all the variables that will determine who gets to play for a conference title. The possible renewal of one of the nation's best rivalries with a conference title on the line adds to the excitement.

Van describes Nebraska, OU, Texas as trainwrecks and the Big 12 in general as a total shitbox conference. He rationalizes his comments by saying he has more respect and expectations from the teams he denigrates gleefully and often in here...thriving on any misery or loss by them. I think your real problem is USC losing the spotlight and focus of discussion for the first time in a couple years...here and in the national media. When not a single "The Genius of Carroll" thread was started, you really got bitter.

Got news for ya Vanny... Okie State (one of those doormats you mentioned) has more loyal fans than the Hollywood Trojans.

Where's USC going to be in 5 years? A" trainwreck"....a flipped over bandwagon with a USC banner in the mud.

Yeah, it's not Barry versus Tom or anything, but it's still for a Conference Championship, a BCS bowl, which, after the year OU has had, would be absolutely amazing, and it's OU freakin' Nebraska. ANY game is bigger when there's more on the line, but OU / Nebraska doesn't have to justify itself to ANY rivalry. Period. Yeah, maybe the matchup isn't what it used to be, but that doesn't mean it's unimportant. Those two concepts aren't mutually inclusive.

Any major conference title game is a big one. If we had a playoff, this game would mean more, but, I'm not going to go down that road right now.

Chalk me up as one of those CF fans who DOES indeed give a crap.

This game and this season's Big XII CCG won't be "like old times".

That's all I said. It's a simple fact. No reason for Sooner Nation to get their crimson and cream panties in a bunch over it. It just means the "old times" for the Big XII's elite were REALLY DAMN GOOD times and that this current season doesn't compare...

Amazing that something so simple and so irrefutable can inspire such virulent defensiveness from Big XII Honk. What's the world coming to when Pac 10 Fan can't even compliment Big XII Honk's former glory without having Big XII Honk assblasting away like m2 following a correctly overturned bad call...

In Nebraska, the wind freekin' blows here 360 days a year. We've had plenty of practice.
We've run the ball all season, now against OU...that looks pretty salty.

I know Zac ain't Brett Farve, (he is however the best QB in the Big 12) but he's done pretty well in a place called Green Bay...and don't forget, it hasn't been spring here for quite sometime now.
I'm actually wondering how OU players will enjoy the brisk evening and 50,000 + NU fans.

Bottom line, if Cosgrove is his stupid self, you'll run fairly well, probably well enough, if he somehow pulls his head out of his ass and plays Carriker at tackle only, and plays Major Culbert in place of Bo Rudd or Stu Bradley, gets Thernares in on defense as well, we'll have a chance of getting some stops. NU would be better playing a nickel, even against the run...cut backs kill this team and missed tackles. OU's backs are a recipe for disaster as long as Kevin Cosgrove is on our sideline.

Allow me to take a stab at this from somewhat of a neutral, more objective angle, Van. You're correct in saying that it won't be like "old times", but for a different reason than you intended. The Big XII is only in it's 11th or 12th year of existence, and this will be the first time that tradition rich OU and NU will meet in the CCG.

Toss in the fact that the game will be played at most likely a jam packed Arrowhead stadium, and this game, despite the relatively "weak" records of both teams, is freaking HUGE in and of itself. Scalpers for this game are going to make a killing. It's a dream match-up for the conference, both teams and their hordes of fans, and even just the casual CFB observer.

It doesn't need or require your snobbish approval or interest, pal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the game itself, on paper OU should be a prohibitive favorite. I believe they are a much better team. But unexplainable shit always seems to happen in this game. Witness K-State bitchslapping OU a few years back, and ATM getting over Nebraska prior to that. Simply absurd outcomes that neither team should have even been in, much less actually winning.

The fact that Husker nation has had weeks to prepare for the road trip, they'll turn KC into Lincoln South. OU fan is rather surprised to be here, and won't represent nearly as well. The ones that do, however, will make up for their lack of numbers by sheer vociferousness and obnoxiousness.

This is going to be a great freaking game. I like the Corn 32-29

again, VAN is too STUPID to realize that usc is irrelevant, they lost to an un-ranked piece of garbage, nuff said,

when nebraska wins the big 12 on saturday, they are an attractive matchup in ANY bcs bowl against anybody in the nation.
let me repeat that staggerring FACT.
once we win the big 12 title, the nebraska cornhuskers are the most attractive matchup against any team in any bcs bowl, WHY?
because come january, NO TEAM wants to face the big 12 champion HUSKERS.
and we travel bettter than ANY team, and we will get the best TV ratings of any team,
ive got a huge chip on my shoulders, and nebraska is the most balanced attack in the country right now,
I love how arrogant the sooner fans are, with their banners reading, "HERE WE COME NEBRASKA!"
ok, I'll bite, here you come? what, to get fucked in the mouth?
cause on saturday, in kansas city, you WILL get fucked hard in the throat.
I can personally guarentee it.

In Nebraska, the wind freekin' blows here 360 days a year. We've had plenty of practice.
We've run the ball all season, now against OU...that looks pretty salty.
Yeah ya know the Oklahoma is known for its lack of wind :meds: and that tropical fauna gives the weather away too huh?
'twas a response to Chilly Landgrabbers "how will NU's WCO playin' in KC on a Dec. night fair."
I'm well aware the wind blows in Oklahoma 'ya know "where the wind goes whistlin' down the plains."
I never called out OU's offense in such conditions.
Read it all.
