"I said before USC played Cal that Cal was a better team than ND. After watching both the USC-Cal and USC-ND games, I stand by my statement: Cal is a better team. No debate.

While Quinn is a better QB than Longshore (experience, but especially foot speed--sorry, but Nate is one slow dude), the Cal defense is WAY better than ND's defense--especially the secondary. Jeeze, the USC receivers had their way with the ND secondary. I'm afraid that Fat Charlie is now officially Pete Carroll's bitch.

So, go out and beat the tar our of Stanford. And please, please, please: Win your bowl game and represent the Pac 10 the way you should.

I've written some strong words regarding Cal-USC leading up to the game (I felt strongly that it would take a perfect game for Cal to beat USC @ the Coliseum in November), but I am now a Cal fan for the remainder of the season. Oh, and I respect Coach T and fine product that you put on the field. You just have to learn how to show up in big games, because that's what college football is ultimately all about."

Hmmmm.... Cal loses to $C late in the game, while being tied to $C in the 4th quarter.

Then drop from #8 to #23???????

Notre Shame... goes from #6 to #10 after getting the living shit kicked outta them by $C??? They were never in the game!

Remember... the computers have Cal with the 2nd toughest schedule in the Country!

Cal would prolly kick the shit out of ND.
But then we all know that program is a poser at best.

That dude Smardahajalkaia gets so much media respect. I can't wait to see this guy try to make it in the NFL.
He's got some height and decent hands. Not enough speed to make it as a WR (compare him to Jarrett...? give me a break). Not nearly big or tough enought to be a TE.
I hear dude has a 99 mph fastball. My advice would be stick to baseball.

I love how even your supposed friends feel the need to implore you to get Cal to sack up and represent for the Pac 10 for once in their bowl game!!

Also, even your friend stated that he felt that Cal was going to have to play a perfect game in order to beat USC in the Coliseum in November. Seems a bit at odds with, ahem, your pregame rants about Cal vis a vis USC...

Also, I think most of us would rather see some of your other recent e-mails...

Sure. The 35-18 game.

Cal was starting a Sophmore QB in his 1st full game in a Div.I game, in front of 105,000.

Cal lost their All-American CB(Tim Mixon) 4 days before the game due to injury, and was replaced with a freshman cb who had a broken hand. He gave up 3 td's in a minute and 21 seconds by going for the interception on 2 and not locking up on another. But with a broken hand, that could be a problem.

Cal lost Stevens the starting TE on the opening kickoff due to an injury. By far the most talented blocker on the O line, and yes he is a tight end.

And most of all... Cal was/is a very young team, and play in a stadium which seats around 60,000. It's a little overwhelming to go into the opening game in SEC Country in front of over 100,000.

By the way, Tennessee is pretty good, and they haven't lost an opening day game against an OOC team in over 30 years. Traveling 2,500 miles to open the season may not have helped either.

Let's be clear about one thing: that game was not nearly as close as the final score indicated. Tennessee was up 35-0 before the Fat Man emptied the bench and Cal got a few meaningless scores against Tennessee's scrubs.

Say what you want about ND, mtoodles, but the fact remains that ND's only two losses this season came at the hands of two of the top three teams in the nation. Cal, by contrast, lost to the fifth-best team in the SEC, an unranked Pac-10 opponent that will finish 7th or 8th in conference, and one of the teams that beat ND. No contest there.
