Spurrier isn't leaving his Myrtle Beach Golf courses... unless you are speaking of Junior.

Saban... hold on... let me catch my breath... I'm laughing to hard.

Petrino is the only realistic option on that list and you guys better be prepared to break out the pocket book and mean for more than just a paycheck but upgrades in facilities... no matter how nice they are.

The facilities in T-town are first-class. None better anywhere.

They'll pay whatever it takes to get a name guy this time.

Mickey Andrews wanted the job bad years ago. So did Bobby Bowden before that. Alabama messed up both times. I think about failing to get Bowden often...coulda been contending for NCs year after year a long time ago.
Ummm Sorry I went to Bama a few years ago with a kid who was being recruited by Bama and I saw their facilities. They are on par with the rest of major college football but I did see better. In all honesty the nicest facilities I have seen (including OU in this statement) are in Tampa Florida and belong to USF.

Has Spurrier gotten his membership at Augusta yet? I know that was part of the deal when he took the South Carolina job.

Great wytch job (or is it wytching?).

In Bammers defense, they have spent major coin on facilities in the last three years, including as nice an end zone deck as the surrounding property will allow.

Shula's buyout is 4 million, so there's some more $$$ spent. Plus the "buy-in" for the replacement coach. Better cough up that dogtrack money, Paul Jr.

I was only there two years ago... Unless it has dramaticly improved in less than 20 months then my statement still stands.

Here's a current view of the football facilities:

http://www.rolltide.com/ViewArticle.dbm ... LID=239841

Don't know if it's been upgraded from when you were there or not.
Like I said... Nice facilities and on par with the rest of major college football. USF's are nicer. Sorry but tat is an unbiased opinion. USF's facilities are nicer than what we even have in Norman right now and farrrrrrrr better than the shit hole Miami has.

There is speculation that Texas will nab the bama DC for their next DC. If hired I hope he is good enough to fix our horrible pass defense.

Oh, bwa.

A rumor has surfaced around these parts that Bama has given one Mike Riley a call in the last couple of days.

Have fun with that, Bama.

He's probably a better coach than he gets credit for. He kinda coaches a less-than-stellar program, and does OK. He did take one of the losingest teams in history and made them occasionally comptetitive.

If they do make that mistake offer him the job(I don't see this as being very likely), I'm guessing it pays better than Oregon State. Probably by a factor of at least 3. But, he seems to prefer being in Corvallis, his hometown. Born and bred beaver. He's left before, but his apple never seems to fall far from the tree.

I really think the guy prefers living in Corvallis(not my forst choice of U&L cities, but I guess if one was born and raised there). I think he's been offered other jobs, I'm sure the bulk of which pay much better than his present one.

Dude seems happy where he is. I guess there's something to be said for placing happiness ahead of money(not like he isn't making plenty as it is). Plus, if he cranks up a 8 or 9 win season every now and then and gets a "decent" bowl, he's met all of the expectations -- I doubt that would be the case at Bama.

Pretty laid back dude for a D1 coach.

Thanks for the kind words regarding our facility. We are going to be undergoing further expansion of the athletic facility in the next year or so that will include a dining hall/nutrition center for all student athletes, brand new practice fields for football which will include a seperate field turf practice field, brand new baseball, softball and soccer stadium, along with a new track. Our basketball facility will also see a mjor upgrade in the next few years as well.

I can't see Rodriquez going to Bama. He a West Virginia guy with a quality program in a BCS-conference that is definitely easier to win and run-the-board in than the SEC. Money talks but this isn't the Mike Price situation, Wazzou will only be particularly good once every few years, Rich could build a consistent top10 program at WV.

I can't imagine Rodriguez would leave the situation he is in now, plus he's a WVU alumnus.

I guess money and tradition talk.

Or, rather, we'll see if they do!

I still haven't written Spurrier off.
I don't think money is an issue since WVU pays him and would be able to continually pay him well.

The tradition aspect could actually be a detrimental thing for Alabama. The way Shula was run shows how a bit how crazy expectations are and that there are probably some very influential boosters/trustees still have a mindset toward Bear Bryant.

Not to mention that Rodriguez actually is probably in a better position where he is. As Danimal pointed out, he has the opportunity to develop a perennial Top 10 program there. The SEC, OTOH, is too competitive for him to be able to take the Alabama program back to the level of dominance it had under Bryant.
