I know these are ugly...

Post by patsy stone »

....but I just bought this style and color of Crocs yesterday...

Image

...and I won't take them off. The most comfortable things ever! I've seen people wearing them and at first glance I think they are a stupid ugly fad, but I tried on my lil' cousin's pair this weekend (I can wear kids' sizes) and I had to get some right away.

Check out their vast array of styles!! Most can be quite fashionable when paired with the right ensemble! :P

Are the holes up front on the shoe to let the knuckle hair on your toes breathe?

Doc Martens are not what they used to be. After their popularity surged a few years ago, the quality started going down rapidly. I had a pair of Docs that I got in Dublin for £19. They lasted for 4 years, during which I wore them every day, often in

weather!!
snow kind of
like CNY -!!

- and then I had worn through the bottoms. Seeking to replace them, I have gone through a number of pairs, suffering through increasingly bad craftsmanship. I 'm just assuming that some phase of their product development has shifted to the Third or Second World - maybe Jakarta, or possibly Poughkeepsie...

Im sure your a knockout fashion maven the rest of the time Patsy, but those shoes look like something you wear when you want some foot puss to dry out.

You mean that surge that started long before you were in high school? :roll'em:

I have a pair I got in Portland, OR, where Doc Martens North America is(like almost every other shoe company in the world). I paid $0 for them....because I know people. Like the dude who runs Doc Martens North America. Because I'm zyclonesque like that. Not sure if I'll get the freebie deal anymore, but I can often come up with a voucher that lets me buy any pair of shoes or boots Doc makes from the warehouse for $35. Makes a nice alternative to all of the Nikes I get for a fraction of retail.

Don't step to U&Ler when it comes to beer or shoes.

I think we're pretty close in age. I bought those shoes in an Army/Navy surplus store in 1988. They might have been on a shelf there for a few years...they definitely weren't "hip" at that time - so the price wasn't inflated. The shoes were definitely not manufactured in the U&L...perhaps that's the reason that you can't buy a good pair these days, because the methmouthed aren't so good at stitching together soles?

Hehehe...hehehe....hehehehe....

For some reason, I thought I was responding to someone else. I do believe we're fairly close in age.

Dude...we don't make shoes here. That's what chinks are for. I'm not sure if any of those companies ever did....Avia might have at one point. Not sure Nike has since they were cranking them out of a waffle iron. Tigers used to make their early shoes for them.

BTW-a quick check of the label says my Docs were made in Thailand. Pretty sure they used to come out of London, before the world stopped giving a shit about decent products.

Although the shoes the athletes wear are made in the U&L....and the Chris Weber/Tracy McGrady/whatever signature models there are, are NOT the same as the ones you buy, except in general appearance. Their kicks are made from a custom mold from their feet, with custom materials, and are hand-stitched...the whole nine yards. I knew a dude who worked in that very department. Said Michael Jonson's shoes(about a women's size for that little whiney fairy) weighed in at about 2 ounces apiece....try finding those off the rack.

...perhaps that's the reason that you can't buy a good pair these days, because the methmouthed aren't so good at stitching together soles?
Dude...like tweekers work anywhere besides gas stations. But mostly at places where they can steal aluminum.

BTW-is that Patsy in the blurred-out avatar pic?

If so, might be quite the cutie. In her overly blurry state, she looks much like an olden-days, long-term OL of Dins'.

Well, since I've never seen them, I can't very well judge for myself, can I?

Ahhhh, the good old Palcian Chronicles.

Of course, that's assuming New Patsy and Old Patsy are one and the same.

Might be a stretch....since at one time, I had the keys to the Patsy nic(thanks for the crankshots, guys), I doubt it's much of a stretch that some other dude named Stan doesn't have them, too.

Okay, Patsy, let's cut to the chase...

You've got a blurred pic of yourself in your av. You posted a thread about the sandals you just bought (which you've GOT to know nobody on this board really cares about).

Sure, Dins, PSU and bbq came in and proved that statement wrong, but there's no way you knew you'd get those reactions before hitting submit.

So, go on with it then. You know you want to post your picture...clear image and all.

Bring it!
