Random Rules

Post by Donovan »

You may have seen this on the Onion AV club. Basically you set your mp3 player to shuffle and post the first ten tracks that come up... and no cheating. If you don't have an mp3 player just throw your 8 tracks up in the air, or something.

1. Fugazi - Break-In My mp3 player must love Fugazi almost as much as I do since they come up so often on shuffle.

2. Big Black - Black Houses This one drones a little too much, even for Big Black. Give me "Songs About Fucking" any day.

3. The Beatles - Carry That Weight This song is waaaay too short. I think I'll play it again.

4. The Shins - Those To Come A fitting followup to the last song. I wish the new disc sounded this good.

5. Reverie Sound Revue - Walking Around Waiting Downtown This is a local band fronted by Lisa Lobsinger, who has also sung in Broken Social Scene.

6. Blondie - Die Young Stay Pretty Not the best Blondie song, but it fits the flow nicely.

7. Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - One Track Mind How long has it been since I listened to this? Too long.

8. Violent Femmes - Good Feeling What a bringdown. I think I'll skip to the next song and hope for something more upbeat.

9. Negativland - Gimme The Mermaid Nope. One more try.

10. Fugazi - Fell, Destroyed I told you my mp3 player loves these guys.

Are you serious?

Holy crap.

Uhm dude...the album side is essentially a single song with movements.

Listening to a single one out of context...why would you even have that in a playlist? Just to cheapen up one of the great works of rock music ever written?

Holy out of context, Batman!

"Gee Wally, that song is awfully short!"

Did you load Pigs On The Wing as a separate entity, too?

Dins, it wasn't part of a playlist. It came up randomly, which should have been obvious from the thread title. I agree that it's out of place as a single song. That's why I made the comment that it seemed too short.

Here are the first 10 that came through on my Nano last night when I was working out,

Kerosene Hat - Cracker
Belt Sanded Man - Mike Watt
Eurotrash Girl - Cracker
Saints - Breeders
Too Much Spice - Husker Du
I Smoke Dope - Gears
Version Pardner - Clash
Angels Gate - Mike Watt
Yes I Am - Melissa Etheridge
He's a woman... - Husker Du

I've noticed that when I put my Nano on Shuffle mode it will play groups of songs from particular cd's before "randomizing further" along.
