I read that in the Miami Herald yesterday. Sounds to me like a violation. Let's see FL try and sweep this under the rug.

It's not a violation unless someond can prove that either of those people had Florida ties. It does however bring in to question Rainey's amature status. That could effect his eligibility, but it won't do anything to UF.

But UF would be smart to drop him.

Making a mistake is one thing. Publicly admitting to taking money and free clothes is another. Yes, kids make mistakes. Kids who have $80,000-160,000 worth of scholarship on the line are held to a different standard.

It would be tough to prove if the people had ties to UF. I would be interested to see if any other Lakeland player received benefits. They have like 6 guys committed to UF for the upcoming recruiting class.

Rainey is a damn good player, so I doubt UF would want to drop him if these improper benefits weren't coming from UF boosters.

Even if they can't prove it came from UF boosters, it puts his amature status in question. Plus, you have one of your top recruits on tape and in print admitting to taking money and clothes from someone.

UF would be smart to drop them, but they won't. They can't find any top RB's who want to play in that offense, so they will hold on to him.

My nephew races motocross nationally, he is sponsored by companies like Etnies, Monster, Oakley, Troy Lee designs.... Every month he receives boxes full of shirts, shoes, shorts, jackets, riding apparel, goggles, sun glasses, stickers... from his sponsors but he is still an amateur. He's 11 and they can not turn pro until they are 16. He also plays in youth baseball and football leagues and plans to play both sports in High School in 2 years and nobody has ever said that he would no be eligible.

Apples and Oranges, trjn. Similar to the Bloom situation. If your nephew wanted to play either sport in college, he would have to give up motor cross.
