Henne and Hart returning for fourth year...

Post by FLW Buckeye »

ESPN is reporting the Henne is returning next year and that Mike Hart may also return to play for scUM.

Henne returning for fourth year

Now the question that is begging to be asked is this:

Are there any scUM QBs that went 0-4 against tOSU or is Henne going to be the first?
He's got potential.

Good decision for Henne (I think). He'd probably be a mid-to-late first/early second round pick this year. He has potential to be a Top 10 pick next year. I think he makes up the lost paycheck next season by the end of his first pro contract, if not sooner.

I'm not sure Hart helps his draft position as much by staying (in fact, I'd go so far as to say that the risk of serious injury probably outweighs any slight incremental gain he could make next season), but he might want to beat tOSU badly enough to return.

To answer your question, Michigan has only lost as many as four straight to tOSU on two previous occasions: 1934-37 and 1960-63. http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/di ... eamid=2380 So unless Michigan had the same starting QB for all four seasons in either of those periods, the answer would be no. I'm not even sure freshmen were eligible for the varsity back then.

Terry I think the NCAA rescinded the freshman rule in the early 70's...maybe 1970 or so...because I know Woody rued the day they changed the rule because of his super soph class of 1968 couldn't play as freshman in 1967...

I read that in a book called Buckeye Madness very good read about the tumultuous history of Ohio State football (that is what the cover says) but nonetheless a good read...I did not know that one OL coach who taught chop blocking coached for Woody at tOSU and actually had his OL doing that...

Look for Henne and Hart to own most UM career records if they stay healthy. It's unprecedented to have four year starters at UM at either position.

Hart needs just over 1100 yards to surpass all 5 men in front of him including Anthony Thomas as UM's all-time rushing leader.

Henne stands to re-write the record books. Most career records are held by John Navarre. He will surpass Navarre in wins, TD's, yards, attempts, completions, etc.

Good to hear. Henne should be a Top 15 pick next year. I am glad to see Hart come back, but next year he will be competing in the draft w/ McFadden, Slaton and Ray Rice.

Well, I guess we have to throw you a bone now and then or it wouldn't be a rivalry. As these two contemplate staying, four Juniors (Pittman, Gonzo, Ginn, and Barton) are all mulling the NFL.

The Wolverines will have a lot of holes on defense next year but they'll have that top flight offense back led by Henne and Hart...they've got to be considered a top 5 team going into next season.

Just wondering, BuckeyeFan...who replaces Smith at QB next year? If Smith had another year, I'd be more worried about Henne going 0-4. Tressel probably has a newbie to break in next year and the game will be in Ann Arbor...that is a game Henne, Hart and Lloyd need to win.

he clearly doesnt give a shit about being drafted(hart). its clear he came back to win it all. Which Michigan would be a top3 team going into next year, with OSU losing their leader at QB.

next year he could be the 3rd to 5th RB taken(2nd round). This year, he would be a 1st rounder, guarenteed. Mcfadden will go top2 next year(barring injury, he's that fucking good) the next 3-5 are pretty much a group, meaning either could slip or slide, pending injuries and workouts.

good for hart, for coming back and trying to win it all, and not sell out to the NFL.

ps i dont blame any top player for bolting, but it's nice to see a guy stay

We've got four guys in the wings. Shoencroft (So) and Boeckman (Jr) are more true passers and Henton (Fr or So depending on redshirt) is supposed to be a running type QB (not necessarily like Troy but we all hope so). Then we have this other guy named Kacsandi (Jr) who I don't know anything about. Shencroft threw three passes this year and Boeckman threw two so no real indication as to who will be the starter.

I believe Boeckman was listed as 3rd on the depth chart...both him and Schoencroft are true drop back passers...with the running game in good hands (hopefully) I think that is a major benefit to Ohio State...

the defense will be solid and the skill positions on offense with or without Ginn, Pittman, or Gonzo will still be deep with Chris Wells and Brandon Saine as well as Robiskie, Hartline and Ray Small...the schedule sets up in the Big 10 with all the tough outs on the road PSU, Michigan, etc...but the early season non con has YSU, Washington, and I believe Akron...whoever the QB will need to step up quickly...

I like Michigan's chances next year to be a top 3 preseason team...I think LSU has the inside track but with Hart, Henne, Manningham, and a solid OL they will score...the D becomes a question with what 7 starters either graduating or leaving early but there is talent there...

Right now if tOSU was say 9-2 next year even with a loss to TSUN then I would consider that a success...just speaking bluntly of course...

Seals & Shoencroft????

C'mon Buckeyes get it right, it's Rob Schoenhoft.

Knowing Tressel, he will go with the guy who knows the system best and makes the fewest mistakes. I think that'll be Todd Boeckman starting out. But many Buckeye fans look for Antonio Henton (the claimed Troy Smith clone) to take over at some point. I still think it's anyone's show, and Schoenhoft shouldn't be left out of the mix. Kid's got a rocket arm, just a little inconsistent.

Sidenote: I heard Justin Zwick got invited to the Hula Bowl. Not sure how common it is for a backup QB to play in that kind of game, but I really wish him the best of luck. Kid could've easily transferred and started at a top-tier D-1 school (he's better than Sam Keller IMO), but stuck it out as a Buckeye.
