Sorry, Whistler, but there's nothing in those quotes from chomsky to suggest he's supporting Pol Pot.

Obviously there's a lot of folks who'd like to smear the good MIT linguististics professor (and, really, have you half a clue as to the essential importance of his linguistic discoveries?), but this doesn't shelter YOU from your curled and bleating corner

Then I suggest you go to his website and read his articles on the subject. He was clearly an apologist for Pol Pot and his supporters, to deny that is idiotic. Face it, you've got nothing to refute it aside from stomping your feet and holding your breathe.

The September 11 attacks were major atrocities. In terms of number of victims they do not reach the level of many others, for example, Clinton's bombing of the Sudan with no credible pretext, destroying half its pharmaceutical supplies and probably killing tens of thousands of people (no one knows, because the US blocked an inquiry at the UN and no one cares to pursue it). Not to speak of much worse cases, which easily come to mind. But that this was a horrendous crime is not in doubt.

No credible source US based or international, will support that. In the 3 months it took to resupply, there was no siginificant increase in the death rate in Sudan.

Chomsky similarly suggests a very high body count due to America's ten-year blockade of Iraq. And he's right. And regardless of how you attempt to frame his quotes, he has never been an apologist or supporter of a dictator or murderous regime. Especially cogent is his take on Israel and its relationship with the U.S.

For his part, Alan Dershowitz is an obvious whore--champing at the bit to join OJ's defense team, for starters. An avoid supporter of Israel, OF COURSE he's going to attack Chomsky. That's his job. It doesn't in any way change the plain facts of the ever increasing apartheid character and behavior of Israel. Chomsky is supported in his assertions by the facts on the ground. From the Nazi-like lockdown of an entire population--checkpoints, ID's, hassles and delays--desined to intimidate and bully as much as provide "security"--to that forty-foot high Wall in the picture provided, Israel's fanatical belligerance mirrors in a harrowing way the same insane bluster of Cheney 'n Chimp. Same fate, too.

Uh...IB, as much as I'm critical of the Zionist brutality and chicannery, I don't think it's fair to impugn the entire cultural group of "Jews" because of the prominent criminals among them. Really, the Italians by the same standard would be endlessly villified. Same with the Irish, Russians, and of course Chinese. There are of course many rich Jews who are righteous and sane. Jack Abramhoff is not one of them. Nor Scooter Libby, Richard Pearle, Paul Wolfowitz, etc.
