OT Has Vince made a believer out of you yet?

I just wanted to find those who said that Vince would never be successful in the NFL if you think Vince has made a believer out of you yet. Vince is now 6-4 as a starter and in the last 5 games has connected on over 60% of his passes. He is also credited with two NFL records biggest comeback victory by a Rookie QB and doing it twice in a row by a Rookie QB. BTW he is 2-1 vs Mannings.

BTW he still has no one to throw to.

I'll give VY his props. In 3 years I predict everyone will be saying, "Vick who?" I'm not going to say he will change the game though because there aren't too many freaks of nature out there who make it an NFL QB position. He might be one of those players that come along every 20 years and the other clubs will have to just drool the way most of the NBA did when Jordan was running amuck. I'll quit sucking his dick now.

Nope, not yet. I'll judge him after 2 or 3 full years. Rick Mirer won rookie of the year and Kordel Stewart took the Steelers to the AFC Championship game.

Kordel Stewart is not a good argument since he took many years before he was able to do anything as a qb. I have no idea who Mirer was QB for when he won ROY but I guarantee they could not have been as bad the Titans are. The Titans have a shitty defense, no receivers, a good oline and a above average running game. BTW the running game was non-existant before Vince took over.

Vince has done nothing to dissuade my opinion of him, and if the Titans do go 9-7 he will be a shoe-in for ROY. The fact that this crappy team has now won 6 games is absolutely amazing.

If he's still winning games with his legs in 3 years, he'll be out of the league in 3 more. I'd like to a team with a good defense get a second shot at him... a Baltimore, or a Chicago... If he beats a team like that twice in a row, then he's got something going. Otherwise...

Well, I'll have a stronger leg to stand on after this weekend, but the talk this week was, "have teams figured out Romo?" It's just that, with this little time left in the season, will teams figure out Vince?

Also, and this is NOTHING against Vince (the first part was though) but running QB's, which he'll always be, sorry... tend to flame out a lot faster. I mean, we've been talking about Mike Vick's potential and waiting for his "breakout season" for 5 years now. The guy's 26, still can't throw, and he's taken a fucking beating... Aaron Brooks... always sucked. McNabb... full-time cripple now. Culpepper? Same thing. Same shit. I compare Black Touchdown Jesus to a Culpepper. A big guy, who can throw, with accuracy, and is mobile. VY doesn't have a Moss to help him through his rookie mistakes, but he's managing... but, back to what I said originally, if he's still winning games with his legs in three years, expect some of those "flashes of brilliance" offhanded compliments to be thrown his way on an on-again/off-again playoff-caliber team that never really does shit.

Or maybe I'm wrong and he's the second coming of Randall fucking Cunningham...

i've never not believed in VY. i've never felt he was "unbeatable" as evidenced by the 03, 04 RRS games (yes, i know Mock started in 03). but, by the same token, i never really had any way to develop much of an opinion whether or not he'd "make it" in the NFL--since i don't follow it any more than casually.

let's see what happens when the best DC's in the world start game-planning for him and the league gets a bible of game tape to study.

but, there's no denying what he's done so far in "this league" is impressive. though, horn fan is not known for lack of hyperbole so live it while you can Vito and remember to towel off before going out in public.

too bad he has to wear those gawdawful Titan uniforms.

Speaking as a guy who got his ass handed to him by VY in one of the biggest games I'll ever see, it was hard to watch him with any objectivity early on.

I am surprised and happy for VY, he has outdone my expectations for him as a rookie. Killian is right - only time will tell - but he's impressed the hell out of me for now.

I hope he makes it. Fight On Vince.

As a Titans fan, I am happy with what he's done. And yes, a bit surprised as well. I really didn't think he'd see much of the field this year as Volek, in the few games he had played prior to this year, had played rather well.

Turns out, Volek is better as a doormat than he is as a QB. So yeah, I'm impressed with FJ thus far. And I concur with the others here that time will tell on the guy. McNair was a nice QB and took the Titans to the SB, but without the ring, so fucking what? Maybe FJ can get them over the hump.

Oh, and that Titans D sure didn't look too bad yesterday. 3 TD by the defense. Oh, and FJ was 8/15 for 85 yards and 4 carries for 4 yards. You can call BODE all you want for the W in FJ's stats, but he did nothing to help that team win yesterday.

I still think he'll be a flop at QB. The defenses don't really have a great scouting report on him yet. Wait until a true scouting report on him gets around the league and see how they adjust to him. He still hasn't shown me he can make tough throws consistently. It's not like he's been going 25-35 for 320 yards. We're talking about a few games of maybe 60% passing for 200 yards. He is a confident guy though, and he doesn't buckle under pressure. That's important for a QB. But eventually he will either have to prove he can make tough throws into coverage or the defenses are going to learn how to shut him down. And I think that is what is going to happen. Besides, I shut him down in Madden '07 the other day. And if I can shut him down, the NFL players sure as hell can!

I was like that with Dazed and Confused... and Swingers... and Above the Rim... and Weird Science... and...

..but with Swingers, it's kinda difficult, mainly because of the most painful scene in the history of movies; the answering machine scene. It's like watching a fuckin' Ben Stiller movie... it literally hurts. That, and their drive to Vegas always put me out.

Speaking of Vince and the Titans....

I just took a look at the boxscore of that game and based on just statistics alone, that might have been the biggest ass kicking a team that won the game has ever taken!

My goodness, Titans outgained 396-98 and the time of possession was about 45 minutes to 15 minutes. Titans scored 24 points and no points from the offense. Wow.

Vince had a big game. 8-15-85 yards.

Keep in mind the key to that game was turnovers, vince had zero while the Jags had 3 returned for touchdowns. Also keep in mind Vince attempted 18 passes he was sacked 3 times and had 5 other hurries. from the other 10 he completed 7 for 85 yards.

It was a good learning experience for Vince, but it was a game that the defense won. His biggest contribution is the zero turnovers.

BTW did you see that Vince was named as a Pro Bowl Alternate.

Yep. Anytime a rookie QB does not turn the ball over, you can say he did his job regardless of his state. But still, I cannot believe the statistical ass kicking the Titans took and still won. 5 first downs the entire game and less than 100 yards and still get a win?? Wow!

At least Ferentz never cheated at Youngstown State like a certain coach Buckeye fans might be familiar with.

For the record, 2 Hawkeyes were selected to the Pro-Bowl. Would have been 3 if Bob Sanders were healthy this year. Could also argue Mike Goff and Eric Steinbach as deserving as well. Heck, Ladell Betts would have been if he would have started the whole year. He's a better back than Portis is. 1,300 total yards, 5 YPC, and he's only started 4 games this year.

The weird thing is is that VY is probably the reason the Titans won with only 98 yards of offense. He doesn't need to be superman to win games. He has some weird voo doo or something because he has that group of players believing they can win every game. The saem group that started 0-5 has gotten to .500 and looked like a team on the rise. VY will not always make the best plays or throw the prettiest ball, or look like a "fantasy pick". He just wins games. He earned the respect of that locker room and gets it done. That's why Texas fans have had man crushes on him for years. You can't get what he does by looking at highlight shows or reading box scores.
