Just sayin'

Tears, jon, tears.
99.9% of what you spew is "bold predictions" as opposed to facts followed by a "mark it down" or a "count on it".
I'm not saying making predictions is a bad thing...just don't say that using facts is taboo when you rarely throw a fact out there in debate.

Big deal they were 2-1 this year, 1-1 last year and 1-1 the year before so they are 4-3 or some shit like that over the last few years in New Years Day and BCS bowls...vs the SEC...what does it prove? Nothing...PSU beat UT and Sconsin beat Arkansas...but what is telling is FLA squeaked by everyone all year (well most of the year) and then took the shower rod, phonebook, plunger and whatever other bathroom or kitchen device and applied to OSU's bunghole...
fact of the matter is Buckeye Nation wanted the Big One...didn't happen...

SEC vs Big 10 debate
No question who I think are 1 and 1A
If I had to rank them in a jumble
1 FLA
1a or 2 tOSU
3 LSU
4 Wisconsin
tie 5 Michigan
tie 5 Auburn
6 PSU
7 Georgia or Tennessee you pick
8 leftover from above
9 Kentucky
10 Minny?
If you jumbled all of them and threw some type of 4 game series together it might be interesting...what would have been nice the other night is if tOSU would have given FLA their best shot rather than only 1 team showing up in the building...

I think the SEC goes 4-1 easily.
I think that's fair...and the Big Ten actually looks even worse when you keep going down the standings. The bottom of that conference is about as bad as any league in the country. It's just a matter of conferences like the SEC play a more imaginative style of football while the Big Ten is still stuck in the Woody Hayes/Bo days of running the ball in a straight line and not changing strategy even if it doesn't work.

Of course the SEC was better this year. I'm talking more about generally. We always hear how fast the SEC is, but come bowl season, the Big-10 fairs pretty well against the SEC. We have a lot more speed in the Big-10 than people down south want to believe. I remember spending a month listening to LSU fans in 2004 and Florida fans in 2003 tell us Iowa fans how we can't hang with their speed. Watching it from the stands, there was no speed disparity and Iowa beat both teams. So, I think that goes to show what a myth these SEC fans have in their heads about how their so much faster than us Big-10 teams.

I think the SEC speed and athleticism is used different than in the Big Ten because there isn't the same creativity you up here like you do with coaches like Urban Meyer. Granted, Meyer isn't an SEC coach to his core but he did bring his innovative way of running a team from out West and has the pick of the litter as far as getting talented players and great athletes. He's able to get everything from his players' ability as opposed to the Big Ten where great players have to generally fit into a rigid system. You have the occasional dynamic player like Troy Smith, Drew Stanton or Randel-El a few years back but for the most part, you have the typical one or two tight ends sets with two backs and a pocket pass as the QB.
The coaches that tried to sprinkle in some new stuff were Tiller from Wyoming and John L from Louisville. For the most part, the coaches are derivatives of their predecessors...Michigan is the perfect example. All of the guys are deciples of Bo and preach the same things he does. They won't hire outside of their family and thus, they play the same style of football for a half-century for better or worse. They preach more about winning the conference title, beating Ohio State and then going to the Rose Bowl...when that was the destination every year for the Big Ten champs.
I want a coach and a program to set their sights on the crystal football every year and not limit themselves to these smaller regionalized goals. In college hoops, it's about making the tournament and playing for national title. In this current system, it's about winning enough games to play in one of the big money bowls and feel satisfied with a 2 loss season as long as they accomplished a couple of their smaller goals. I think Ohio State sincerely wants to be the national champs every year but Tressel's first goal when he became coach was to beat Michigan...and that game, unlike this year, really doesn't have any bearing on the national title picture. I think if you put a playoff system out there where winning the Big Ten can parlay into a national title, I think philosophies of the old guard in this conference could change.

The SEC has as much speed as any league in the country, particularly on defense. However, in quite a few cases, they sacrifice size to achieve this. You aren't going to have as much success trying to out-finesse an SEC team, however I have seen Big 10 teams just line up heavy and blow them off the ball physically.
Which games would be a toss up outside of maybe the Wisc game?buckeye_in_sc wrote:I think it would be more a toss up...

UF blows out OSU
LSU BLOWS out Michigan
Auburn mows PSU
Tenn rocks Purdue
Dude, your conference was a fraud. Period. You were overhyped and overrated. This was proven and undeniable.

T REX,
It is not being an asshole to point out the truth. The fact is, before you ran yourself outa here, damn near every post of yours had to do with calling a team and/or conference overrated. Hence, the creation of the SEC Ballsucking Homer troll. The "team/conference is overrated" topic got extremely tired yet you still harped on it. Here you are doing it again.
Hell, I remember when Shaz did the same shit and it was tired way back when as well. Of course, Shaz ventured out from that umbrella quite a bit a swell so it wasn't so bad. Many here just get sick of it. Ok, you think every conference and every team outside of Florida and the SEC is the suck and is overrated, even Temple. Drop it and move on.

ANd so it goes.....do you sit there and deny that the Big 10 was overrated? Michigan and OSU thought they should play again for a national title. BOTH were blown out.
Funny.
And will you sit there and that the SEC is NOT the best conference from top to bottom?
Funny.
It sounds as if you are pissed that I may be right most of the time. Back to when I called out the Big 12.......funny......was I right back then? Am I right now?
What a shame....

If you think UF blows out OSU in another game...ok fine...not going to agree with that point...
LSU blows out Michigan? Perhaps but I think Michigan happens to match up well with LSU.
Sconsin definitely...PSU mowed down UT and Auburn was not that good...they struggled with Nebraska...that game would be closer than you think...
UT rocks Purdue...ok that 10 points they scored sure would have me shaking...
Look the SEC is outstanding...never did not argue that...but Sconsin beat Arkansas and PSU MOWED down UT...FLA mowed down tOSU...great...still = 2-1...favor of the big 10...replace UT with Arkansas and perhaps it would be 3-2 in favor of the SEC...
but don't kid yourself...you think FLA would have their way with OSU if they played again, again? Ok there sport...funny...Buckeye Fan comes in here and loses with class, dignity and props FLA to no end...too bad FLA fan could never win with class...now you have FLA MOWING everyone down...hell we should have them play in the Super Bowl clearly they are better than San Diego, Seattle, etc...

Uhhhhh....you started the thread. Listen, I had to hear Carr complain about UF being in the title game. I had to hear Kirk Herbstreit and everyone else say that the Gators don't belong. Well, guess what? We won. Period.buckeye_in_sc wrote:If you think UF blows out OSU in another game...ok fine...not going to agree with that point...

So, are you saying that UF wouldn't win 9 out of 10 times?

Ok so you are basing this on ONE game that UF would mow down tOSU 9 out of 10 times? Ok great...so we can throw statistics and everything out the window...ONE data point or reference point is all we need.
Dumbass...I have said...FLA was the better team Monday and won the game...have I said anything to the contrary? NO...PERIOD...
You had to listen to Carr, you had to listen to Herbstreit...you never had to listen to SC...sure I gave my opinion but I started what ONE FUCKING THREAD...do you want me to post your PM's about you not GIVING YOUR FUCKING GATORS a chance because I have what 3 or 4 of them. Don't back pedal now...
you gave your Gators no chance...they showed up and won...awesome...props again...
Look who started the thread sport...not me...and by the way you are the who started the interesting debate topic...I just merely said it would be closer than you think...then you came back with the mowing down shit...
Un Classy maybe not but you seem to think that no matter what happened the other night...ala me just stating Ginn would have gotten by Nelson and you can't even let that go...you want to argue that point...I watched that 16 seconds about 5 times and even with the angle Ginn gets by him...if you don't agree fine...
9 out of 10 times...that is some funny shit...

Kirk said 10 out of 10 the Gators would dominate them. It was a nice turnaround and looked like a humbling experience for the ESPN crew. CBS owns the SEC rights and Fox owns the BCS so it was weird watching Kirk and crew pimp the Big 10 all year. Mark May couldn't say enough about USC.
It was disrespect week after week. At one point UF was 11-1(after that ridiculous 4 game stretch) I think and Kirk, Corso, May, Holtz didn't even have UF in their top five!!!!! Top five. Are you kidding me?

Rex it happens every year...
Last year they said USC couldn't be beaten and Texas did it...
When tOSU beat Miami they said Miami couldn't be beaten it happened...
happens every year...quit acting like this was the first time in history a team was disrespected...happens man it is human nature...
again FLA won the title...they hold the belt until someone knocks them off...do I wish tOSU would have had their A game...HELL yes because that would have been epoch...I will also state until we get a playoff this who is better than who shit will not be solved...ie Michigan possibly beating LSU and someone on their way to a title or BSU or whomever...it can happen...
I vote playoff not because tOSU lost or UF won but think of the buzz, games, and intensity it would have generated this year...
anyway congrats again and enjoy the BELT...

I hear you but please understand I never thought it would happen....two years early. When Tebow is a junior I think this team is going to be darned good and tough to beat.
How does a team like Boise go undefeated and not even sniff it? Why even be in D-IA? If someone tells me their schedule sucks then why did Gearge Mason blow the doors off of several Big Conference schools on the way to the final four? Weird.

hey t rex? you should have given me congrats on the nebraska/auburn game, see, even though nebraska lost, and auburn shut us down, so did we shut down auburn, the difference in the game was a FG,
AND, auburns two TD's were gifts from us, we turned the ball over giving them red zone position, and they scored both times,
when we scored, it was physically running the ball down their throats, and, before you go on with "we lost", NO KIDDING dumb fuck, all I am saying is we shut them down,
and, next year, nebraska will be better, callahan has got some serious recruits coming in here,
as far as the sec goes? sure its a great conf. BUT, today in college football, parity is the rule,
there is no domination anymore, when florida got beat, and when florida needed a miracle to just barely survive a bottom feeder like the cocks, it PROVES that any top ten team can beat florida,
did ya hear that?
I said that this season, the season where florida won the title, ANY top ten team could easily beat the gators on any given saturday, south carolina proved that, and south carolina is an un-ranked piece of shit squad,
thats a fact, and you must live with it,
