from a couple days ago...? Stupidity at it's finest...
one topic had recruiting and how many recruits certain states had sign D 1 LOI's...they were Cali, Texas and FLA...then Ohio was 4th with like 157 which was roughly 1/2 of FLA's...he then goes onto say is it no coincidence that the last 3 national champions were USC, Texas and FLA...
first off...a good number of players that contributed to each squads MNC were not from those states:
USC - Dwayne Jarrett - NJ, Fred Davis - Oh, etc
Texas - not sure about everyone but I do not think every defensive stud was from Texas I could be wrong
FLA - DeShuan Wynn - Oh, Chris Leak - NC, Percy Harvin - VA
second...um Dumbass Cali, Texas, and FLA are 3 of the most populous states in the nation...Ohio has roughly 10mm people and FLA has what 14 or 15mm with Cali and Texas having much more? I would day those scholarships are pretty proportionate to population...but don't do any analysis Terry...and this guy was a division 1 football coach...
anyway just found it interesting...

I can't think of a single defensive player for Texas that did not come from Texas. On offense two of the starting olinemen were from out of state, everyone else was from Texas. Mack has a unwritten recruiting rule - If there is equal talent in Texas to outside of Texas he will go with the Texas talent. If he has a need he cannot fill with in-state talent he will look out of state. Funny thing about the two out of state starters on the oline is that both were guys whose dad played at Texas.

Key word in that statement.buckeye_in_sc wrote:...and this guy was a division 1 football coach...
Yet, Terry Tot was known for his expertise at recruiting:
Step 1 - Get on TV every chance you get and talk about how great your Daddy is.
Step 2 - Wait until your Daddy has all the recruits he wants or needs.
Step 3 - Run into Florida one week before Signing Day and pick up the leftovers and reprobates.
CARDINAL RULE: Do not recruit ANY running backs that weigh more than 200 lbs.
