it's hard to run with the weight of gold

it's just as hard with the weight of lead

How about finishing with some of the best lyrics EVER before jumping of the speedway and rushing into Terrapin Station .... hhmmm ?

It's got no signs or dividing lines
and very few rules to guide

Spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I saw things getting out of hand
I guess they always will

I don't know but I been told
if the horse don't pull you got to carry the load
I don't know whose back's that strong
Maybe find out before too long
With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.

It's a vector quantity that's equal to the average force exerted on an object over a period of time, multiplied by the time, and it equals the change in momentum.

Not my favorite Dead number, but for some reason when one of their tunes pops into my head there's about a 50% chance that it's the one. Jack Straw probably being second.

The other day they waited, the sky was dark and faded,
Solemnly they stated, "He has to die, you know he has to die."
All the children learnin', from books that they were burnin',
Every leaf was turnin', to watch him die, you know he had to die.

You've all been asleep
You would not believe me
Them voices telling me
You will soon receive me
We're standing on the beach
The sea will part before me
Fire wheel burning in the air
And you will follow me,
And we will ride to glory
Way up the middle of the air

I still have a bitchin "unlicensed" shirt with Bart Simpson wearing a tiedye, holding a finger up, with the caption "I need a miracle, man!"

Since that shirt was from shortly after The Simpsons came on the air, I guess it kind of dates me. Works great for picking up old Head chicks at the hippy bars.

"According to Weir, he and Barlow wrote the song from the perspective of a crazy, messianic zealot, a type which one invariably encounters in Deadhead crowds now and again. As Weir explains: 'The basis of it is this guy I see at nearly every backstage door. There's always some guy who's taken a lot of dope and he's really bug- eyed, and he's having some kind of vision. He's got a rave he's got to deliver.' In Estimated Prophet, the psychopath claims 'My time comin' any day, don't worry about me,' and Weir essentially lets him rave."

The shows that they recorded "Steal Your Face" at...they played 4 nights at Winterland in 1973 (could have been 74 - it was a long time ago), Thu through Sun. We put 10 people in a van and drove up from LoCal on Friday, and went to the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows, driving back to LoCal right after the Sunday night show. Rumor was that they were breaking up, or at least taking a long hiatus from the road. And they actually did stop touring for a while.

My ticket stub (it was Ticketron back then) from Sunday night had "THE LAST ONE" stamped across it. I had that thing stuck on my bulletin board for 15 or 20 years. It disappeared at some point, I don't know when, but I sure wish I had it back.

RACK Bobby, for being able to do a better interview than Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, or Ozzy. Bobby has brainBODE.

Just missed him coming through town, though...unrack me. I hate the club he played with a passion, though(although it seems I end up there about once a year).

I think I still have all of my GD stub...the vast majority of which are from Autzen. Heck, I still probably have most of the stubs from just about every show I've been to...hundreds by now, I'm sure. Big pile of GD ones, at any rate.

All I know is something like a bird within her sang
All I know she sang a little while and then flew on

Tell me all that you know
I'll show you...
Snow and rain

About the 26 minute mark, Set 1, 8-21-93, Eugene, OR.

Best Bird Song ever. I even remember that set, 14 years later...and remembering anything from that weekend gives me Bobby-esque brainBODE. Oh, I also remember the exploding campstove, leading to my first experience with a halon fire-exstinguisher....when dealing with halon, less is more...remember that. I don't think our neighbors appreciated every cooking fire within 300 yards going out, and they surely didn't appreciate spending the next 30 minutes coughing. Pretty sure that was the same trip. And being camped right across from the community showers, and watching all the hot chicks shower while tripping balls.

I'll have to look for that show.

Has the ability to download mp3's of peoples' bootlegs been re-established ... forget the link but it was sweet while it lasted, then Phil and the Garcia estate stopped it and they said they MIGHT get it back.

I don't know.

It's a pity.

Especially the Dead too. I know I'd buy CD recorded and remastered from a Soundboard that I might have an audience or even a second gen SBD tape of.

 Dead heads, we've kind of hi-hacked this thread like we used hi-jack parking lots at stadiums and surrounding communities were the dead were playing.

Just like we hijacked all the rest areas on every highway leading to the stadium for hundreds of miles around.

Those impromptu rest area parties were like....well, they were like...

Now you're talking ... China Cat\Rider\Estimated\Terrapin ...... Drums Space and then into ....

Blue light rain, whoa unbroken chain,
Looking for familiar faces in an empty window pane.

Listening for the secret, searching for the sound
But I could only hear the preacher and the baying of his hounds.

Willow sky, whoa, I walk and wonder why,
They say love your brother, but you will catch it when you try.

Roll you down the line boy, drop you for a loss,
Ride you out on a cold railroad and nail you to a cross.

November and more, as I wait for the score,
Theyre telling me forgiveness is the key to every door.
A slow winder day a night like forever,
Sink like a stone, float like a feather.

Lilac rain, unbroken chain, song of the sawhet owl.
Out on the mountain, itll drive you insane, listening to the winds howl

Unbroken chain of sorrow and pearls, unbroken chain of shy and sea.
Unbroken chain of the western wind, unbroken chain of you and me.
With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.
