'07 Draft Roundup
How did your team do?
The 'Skins? Well we got a guy named Landry and another one named Dallas. Hate to say it but the Cowboys are deeeeep in someone's dome at Redskins Park. And the Landry guy? Well, this gets complicated. You see it was probably a sub-brilliant contingency plan Dan & Co. dreamed up because somehow they knew they'd fukk up and not shore up the D-line in the way that is desperately needed. Their thought process was something like: "well guys let's get Taylor some help back there so that when the line we didn't address allows rb's to gash us for 7 yds per attempt we have another guy downfield to pop 'em. And hey, Landry can run down receivers, which is good since there will be no pass rush. So we're all set!"----something like that.
Seriously, WTF? Gregg Williams and his arrogance act is getting fukking stale. He acts like he could stymie the Colts O with an all midget cripple squad blindfolded. So what's up with giving the fukker so much personnel say? Let the Overweening Bag of Self Worth that he is scour the fukkin waiver wire, arena football and the CFL for his defense if he's such a badass field marshal. If Gibbs wants to win his way he needs a dominant O-line and a steady-good at least D-line like he had during his first run. He's famous for winning it all with 3 different QB's.... yeah but the dominant constant was the O-line. The one we have now doesn't fukking scare anybody and the best parts are yet another year older.
If the current regime wants to win every resource, draft and salary cap, has to be expended toward the line of scrimmage.
SO we get a safety. And Carson's lil brudder. Is he any good?

The Skins were fighting an uphill battle with limited picks.
Geez, a 1st, 5th, two 6's and a 7 isn't givin' you much to work with.
For a team with a pitiful 6 INT's last year, Landry might provide some help.
He and S. Taylor could make a nice little DB combo .... like the early/mid 80's when SF started building with an anchor of R. Lott and D. Hicks.
But yeah, you're right, velo, it's gotta happen up front.
Good luck.

What isit that he believes anything a player tells him about a failed drug test or six?
Mike Anderson: tested positive for pot due to "2nd hand smoke"
Todd Sauerbrun: "it was the diet supplements" (he re-signed Sauerbrun, btw)
So when a sure-fire 7th rounder from Florida who got booted off the team for too many positive tests for pot is available in the 2nd round, all he has to say is " Oh, I don't do dat no mo" and Shanny snaps him up.

If NFL coaches implemented a "zero tolerance" policy towards all the criminals in this league with substance abuse "issues," they'd have to start scouting church rec leagues to fill roster spots.

Define "Zero Tolerance"
-Ricky Williams, Ontarrio Smith, Koren Robinson, Shawna Merriman, ect.
First time=4 game suspension (The season is 16 games)
Second Time=6 game suspension
Third time=Lifetime Ban
Name me one other sport where they suspend you for a quarter of the fucking season for the first offense.NFL History wrote:the NFL has the toughest policy on drugs. That fact seems to have been lost in all the headlines. Since the drug policy was instituted in 1989 only 111 players have been suspended for drug use. Of those 111 over the last 16 years only two players have tested positive a second time and they both retired rather than take the penalty.
Dont bother-it doesnt exist.
In case you missed it, the new NFL commish isnt fucking around when it comes to any bullshit-Hell, Pacman jones was suspended for the fucking year and he hasnt been convicted of anything yet. Vick will be fucked just the same if they find that he knew about dogfighting.
Also, the new head honcho has passed a memo to every owner of every franchise that he and the PA have "Beefed Up" the new conduct policy so that it can severly punish the entire front office/coaches who bring shitbag players in because they have "talent". The NFL isnt fucking around, period-and Cudes has a legitimate gripe as to why he thinks Shanny made a wrong move in drafting and signing turds.
Why dont you take some time and learn about the sport of Football and the rules surrounding the NFL before running in here and opening your gaped cocksucker again.
Until that moment comes-get fucked, tard.

The current rules in place have nothing to do with this, moron.
My point is, as a head coach, you don't exactly have the luxury of passing on high volumes of players with past problems - whether substance abuse or something else - because the league is littered with guys who have questionable off field reputations.

Marcus Thomas was the best player on that team before his suspension. The guy eats up space and is close to impossible to block. You got first round material with the pick. You'll see.Cuda wrote:Shanny crapped the bed- as per usualm

What part of my fucking post didnt you get about the league heavily penalizing not only the player but the front office and coach who take on said player?
Wrong. My point is, as a head coach, you don't exactly have the luxury of passing on high volumes of players with past problems - whether substance abuse or something else
Read above for your answer yet again, tard.
Coaches do have the luxury on passing those guys because not only are there many more good character guys than shitbags in the league, but they could lose said shitbag for a 1/4 of the season (if not more) if they take the chance on them. Then there's that whole "front office/Coach assjack" thing they've initiated as well. Essentially, the commish has made it so teams cannot afford to take the chance on a fuckbag.
And if they get popped, they're out. Period.because the league is littered with guys who have questionable off field reputations.
Again, Cuda's concerns and bitching about his team drafting a blunting 'Cane and a re-signing a previous offender have merit. Even a first time offender hurts the team by missing that big of a chunk of time.

In fairness your team didn't have a whole lot of picks to work with. It may have been 30 years since George Allen last coached the Redskins, but his influence on the organization's philosophy is noticeable even today.
You did get a player in Landry, but I suspect he's the only one from this group who will stick.

Thanks for the alibi Terry, but in fairness to Redskin fans, our cynicism and disdain of Dan and the WOP are ...... right on the money. They've earned that from us.
Just as Dan has earned the right to take something like the Washington Redskin organization and totally f-ck it up.
But I'm younger than you, old man ;), do tell about the George Allen legacy. Besides his son being an idiot.

With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.
Re: '07 Draft Roundup
The LBs picked in rounds 5 and 6 have the potential to make the team as special teamers and backups, which is not surprising considering the depth at each position has been fucked due to the past couple years of overpaying for trash.Terry in Crapchester wrote:You did get a player in Landry, but I suspect he's the only one from this group who will stick.

George Allen, a.k.a. "The Future Is Now," was notorious for trading draft picks.Tom In VA wrote:But I'm younger than you, old man ;), do tell about the George Allen legacy. Besides his son being an idiot.
Speaking of that, and his son . . .
His son played QB at UVa while George, Sr. was coach of the Redskins. George, Jr. was not a legitimate NFL prospect by any stretch of the imagination, but the NFL draft did have 18 rounds back in the day. One might think that under those circumstances, George, Sr. might have used his last-round draft pick on his son as a courtesy, but he traded that one too.
Maybe that has something to do with the way the son turned out. ;)
