Todd,

????

Since you mentioned money...

Would you spend $26 Million on a 45 year old that hasn't been to spring training, when your team desparately needs middle relief and possibly a closer?

Clemens for $5 Million would be understandable. $10 Million is pushing it... Everything after that is a waste of money!!

Good Luck!!

Rumor has it that Nolan Ryan might be available for $35 million.

The old man jokes don't hold much water because that old man has a 2.02 ERA the last two seasons. If the Astros had any offensive prowess whatsoever, he would've won 35 games instead of 20 in those two seasons. He now finds himself pitching in front of the best offense in baseball.

Father Time is bound to catch up with him at some point but the last two seasons aren't indicative of that happening.

It won't help. Clemens won't go more than 6 innings in a start so no matter what happens in those first 6 innings the Yanks will have to score about 10 runs so their shitty ass bullpen can hold the lead.
Aint gonna help

Then they bring in their middle relief and the opposition salivates like Pavlov's fucking dog just waiting for dinner to be served.

Farnsworth, Rivera. Yanks top two bullpen arms. Both give up runs to lose the game after 7 great innings in Desalvo's debut.

Add another 1 to 2 innings relief when Rocket starts. It will be laughable. It willbe just the opposite of what happend with our Stros. Rocket gives up 0 or 1 run in 5-6 innings. However, bullpen is dominant in our case. But the Stros lose 1-0. Yanks will probably score more, but once that shitpen takes over, it's all uphill.

Anyone hear Suzyn Waldman crying like the Yankees just won the World Series upon witnessing Clemens address the peasants from King George's castle? It was so over the top ridiculous:
"OK, hang on everybody," she yelled, coming out of a break. "Roger Clemens is in George's box, and Roger Clemens is coming back!"

"Oh, my goodness gracious!" Waldman gushed in the middle of the seventh inning.

"Of all the dramatic things, of all the dramatic things I've ever seen, Roger Clemens standing right in George Steinbrenner's box announcing he is back!""

Hyperbole much, tittied-token hack? Reading this bullshit doesn't do it any justice.

That's because the current starters are getting blown the fuck out. Clemens may be pitching a gem but he will still sit after 5 or 6. That ain't helping you any once Torre calls on the shitpen.

Read my post from above......please don't group me in with these idiots. Clemens won't help a freaking bit....well except to be the mercinary bitch he is and collect a shit load more money that he really doesn't need.

Imagine the quantity and quality of middle relievers that the Yankees could get with the money that they are paying Roger?

If the Yankees improved their middle relief, that would close the biggest hole.

Pet it
Mussina
Wang
Hughes
Pavano

Okay, The Yankees also need starting pitching but they could have gotten a young stud for $12 Million and spent the other $6-$14 million on middle relief.

Who will the Yankees pick up at the Trading Deadline??

Clemens should be a stabilizing presense in the rotation but with all of the issues they've had in their rotation this year...he's still only going once every 5 games. He's not going to solve all of their problems. They are a better team with him but I still think the Sox have the best rotation in that division when both teams are healthy.
