My Next Smoker

Post by indyfrisco »

We pay off the house in about 12 months. After that, my wife is quitting work to be a stay at home mom. I told her in order to do this, she will work an additional 3 months after the house is paid off. We will use that money to buy this.

I plan on starting my dream of getting out of the 9-5 business world and will do catering events and competitions on weekends in addition to putting more money into my BBQ sauce business. Right now, every extra cent is going towards mortgage and we will be debt free after that.

This bad boy is $4000. It will pay for itself eventually. Only 15 more months and this is mine.

Very nice. $4,000 seems like a deal for that rig.

I hope it works out for you. Would you be available for any events in LowCal?

This one comes in at a cool $12,995. It can be set up with a whole hog spit.

My dream is to travel the country doing cooking competitions and selling my BBQ sauce.

My reality is that I will get this rig and cater locally on the side and get out to competitions a few times a year. With success in this area, I can work my way towards the dream.

Oh, and I've seen MUCH better rigs for $13k than THAT!

hell, this is the one I really want, but I'm not dropping $7200 right now. Would you rather have this one for $7200 or that other one for twice as much? Give me the Lang rig. It's the twin model of the actual one I am going to get. Maybe, once again with some success, I will get a bigger rig.

I was thinking my next smoker would look something like this --

A friend of a friend-sort-of-dealio has a unit much like the one in IF's pic. They do redneck-catering, and cook up the grub at my friend's annual bash-in-the-sticks(where we go do our best to trash a $2 mil house on 10 acres in the woods).

And that unit(I think they have two, actually) seems to do a tremendous job cooking large quantities of meat*.

While I'm sure Rome is well-aware of who Chad in Portland, the serial e-mailer is, I don't think most of the listeners are quite aware of the funny. It's not a matter of some dude having too much time on his hands, and rapid-firing off e-mails to Rome...he's the sports news guy on the affiliate that carries the Jungle -- dude's sitting there listening to the show all morning anyway...and takes some serious crap from the locals for it.
