On the mound at The Jake tonite::::

Post by ucantdoitdoggieSTyle2 »

For those of you who have dealt with cancer, whether it's been you or a loved one, you know how absolutely teh suck it is.

Tonight, Jon Lester makes his triumphant return to the bigs after beating cancer. Sure... he was young enough, healthy enough, and lucky enough to have it diagnosed at a very early stage in order to beat it. But, so what? He beat it. He's back pitching in The Bigs eleven months to the day after it was first announced he had contracted the disease.

The first time I really remember another ball player beating cancer and returning to play so soon was Eric Davis. To this day, his #24Oriolesuniform remains one of my most prized possesssions. It's good to see high profile players come back and lead normal lives after beating this dreaded disease. I know this sounds corny, but it gives hope and inspiration to the common man/woman and his/her family who is going through the same ordeal.

Anyway. That is all. RACK Jon Lester.

Along the same lines, I must RACK Jeff Weaver, for overcoming severe enough mental retardation that it made him think the mullet was fresh, yet he too was still able to return to the Bigs and perform at a decent level(for now).

I don't know if he's retarded as much as it is probably the after-effects of all of the weed he's probably smoked. How else can you explain his eyes? I can remember hearing stories back in his Detroit days of him smoking pot on the team flights.

Props to Lester on 6 strong innings. Anyone that locks up the Tribe gets a thumbs up from me.

1. Yes, rack Lester.

2. Did you forget about Dave Dravecky or were you too young to remember?
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Sure I remember Dravecky... in his second game back he shattered his arm and later had it amputated. Cancer kicked his ass. This is about inspirational success stories, you sick fuck. Not people who can't cut into a fine piece of steak without someone's help. You are twisted.

Dude. He came all the way back and pitched again. His was a true success story. Very inspirational. The arm was shattered due to the cancer treatment they employed (freezing the tumor) that weakened his bone. He re-broke it during the game five pennant celebration. The cancer came back the next year. His autobiography is awesome. I definitely recommend it. The thing that really shocked me is how big of news it was when he came back. It was all over the place. Very cool stuff.
