So....

Post by RumpleForeskin »

How do you think you did in your draft?

I am in 3 leagues this year. All cash leagues with entry fees at $50, $100, and $150. I had my first draft tonight online but 8 out of the 12 of the league participants were at my house all using our laptops, so it felt like an offline draft. The other 2 drafts will take place tomorrow and Wednesday night, both offline.

My first team is okay, but not great. I picked in the 6th slot, but I thought I faired well. This league has a smaller overall roster count than most traditional leagues, but the starting lineup is still a traditional setup with 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 D/ST. This is my starting lineup...

Matt Leinart (4th Round)
Joseph Addai (1st Round)
Deuce McCallister (2nd Round)
Chad Johnson (3rd Round)
Reggie Brown (7th Round)
Tony Gonzales (5th Round)
Eagles (12th Round)
Jason Elam (13th Round)

Bench - Matt Schaub, Chester Taylor, Leon Washington, Braylon Edwards, Calvin Johnson, Marcus Pollard (probably going to drop him and pick up someone else later in the season since his bye week is the same as Gonzales'), Mason Crosby, and Saints.

Mrs. Rumple must have been kept very busy...

As for your draft, not bad overall, but Duece in the 2nd round was a big stretch. Where'd Reggie Bush go?

Nice snag with Gonzo in the 5th round may make up for it.

Me? No. I think that is a good pick considering the scoring New Orleans is going to do this year. McCallister is a SOLID back. With all the attention Bush will garner this year, Deuce will get his standard 70 yards and a score just about every game. Ot probably was a stretch in round 2, but so were the other RBs that I could choose from at that point. Henry, Benson, and James, and Brown are not locks to have better years than Deuce.

Must be a RB weighted league, I guess. What? Maroney wasn't available?

You got a 2nd option with your 2nd pick.

11 out of 12 picks in the first round were RBs

Damn, your starting RBs are tight. Kitna should have a good year except for the 2 games against Chicago and perhaps the road game against Minnesota. Good team though

2 leagues 1 auction and 1 draft. Won the draft league last year and picked last every round (rules of the league) and had 1 keeper (so my first pick was end of round 2) (neither league awards points for receptions.. TDs are 6 for all receiving and rushing, 6 pts for passing in the auction league, 4 for the draft league)

Draft league

Carson Palmer
Matt Schaub

Shaun Alexander (keeper- had Steven Jackson last year.. could either trade him before draft for another keeper or go without a keeper and gain a 1st round pick.. Alexander was best option)
De Angelo Williams
Leon Washington
Chester Taylor

Andre Johnson
Jerricho Cotchery
Brandon Jones
Wes Welker
Dwayne Bowe

Todd Heap
Zach Miller

Bears D.
San Fran D

(Kickers)

Not real strong at the receiver spot though I like Johnson to perhaps have a few more TDs this year. Overall, I think I drafted a well balanced team.

Auction League- able to keep up to 2 guys. Auction starts after every team has 2 guys. (random order draft takes place for those with no keepers or new teams to the league).

Kitna
Favre

Reggie Bush (keeper)
Ronnie Brown (keeper)
Cedric Benson
Tatum Bell

Andre Johnson
Jerricho Cotchery
Braylon Edwards
Kevin Curtis
Anthony Gonzalez

Chris Cooley

Chargers Defense

I like my depth at RB and I am probably dropping Favre for Cutler who, for some reason was dropped. Took some chances at WR but like the potential. Big money was spent on the Bears Defense/Special Teams. I nabbed the Chargers D cheap and when you play the Chiefs and Raiders 2x a year, there are a lot of turnovers to be had.

Basically standard scoring (a couple little variations). Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, D. 12 team league- I picked 11.

QB-
Eli Manning (10)
Steve McNair (12)
Brett Favre (15)

RB-
Willie Parker (1)
Willis McGahee (2)
Jamal Lewis (8 )
Reuben Droughns (13)
Kevin Jones (15)

WR-
Roy Williams (3)
Anquan Boldin (4)
Deion Branch (5)
Bernard Berrian (9)
Ronald Curry (14)

TE-
Jeremy Shockey (6)

K-
Nate Kaeding (11)

D-
Eagles (7)

Overall- I am pretty happy- except for QB. I was waiting to pick up a middle of the road guy once the top 5 were off the board- but there was a run in the middle rounds and I missed a bunch of guys. At that point (since everyone had at least 1 QB) I figured better to pick up solid starters elsewhere and pick up someone later. I think between my three- I can manage a week to week basis.
Yeah fuckers.... I'm back

Looks like you need Andre Johnson & Jerricho Cotchery to REALLY do well.

Johnson led the AFC in receptions last year with a shitty QB.. If Schaub is as bad as Carr was, Johnson should still have a decent year. If Schaub is better than Carr (and he's got a better arm and hopefully a little smarter with the ball) then my risk pays off. For some reason owners are high on Randy Moss and ranked him higher than Johnson. I just don't see him producing much this year.

Cotchery is a nice red zone target for the Jets who don't have a big back to go to inside the red zone.

Will PM with response to your other question.

Finished up my second league last night. 3rd league won't start until after week one due to some delays and people dropping out last minute.

2nd league is 10 teams with this starting setup - 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex RB/WR/TE, 1 TE, D/ST, and 1 K

I picked second and here is my starting lineup -

Drew Brees
Steven Jackson
Edgerrin James
Roy Williams
Andre Johnson
Reggie Brown/Jerius Norwood (Flex)
Tony Gonzales
Adam Vinitieri
Pittsburgh D

I think I lack a little in the backup RB department, but the backups I have are solid backups for the starters.

RB - Norwood, Chris Brown (splitting time with White), Betts,
WR - Santonio Holmes, Moulds, Williamson
TE - Owen Daniels
K - Nick Folk
D/ST - Panthers
QB - Delhomme, Tavaris Jackson, Jason Campbell

Last night I did a live draft with 16 teams (!) meaning. I picked 11th and this is almost exclusively a yardage league, TDs don't ocunt for much. It was difficult because 1) I had never played with these guys before, they had played together, most of them, for many years; 2) I have never played in a league that devalued TDs so much; and 3) having to wait for 21 picks before picking agains can make it hard. I decided I needed to fill in my starting roster first, because withthat many people plenty of dregs would be coming up fast. I am pretty happy with the back end of my draft, not so sure about the early part. We'll see.

1. Reggie Bush (11)
2. M. Bulger (22) (probably too early)
3. A. Boldin (38)
4. Miami (59) (B-more and Chicago were taken #15 and #16)
5. J. Lewis (70)
6. Calvin Johnson (91)
7. C. Chambers (102)
8. R. McMichael (123)
9. L. White (134)
10. D. Culpepper (155)
11. R. Curry (166)
12. O. Mare (187)
13. Atlanta (198)
14. Jaconby Jones (219)

My other draft is a pretty traditional Yahoo draft, except we draft IDP. 10 teams, I picked 4th.

1. S. Alexander (4) (Wasn't sure if it should be him or Addai, but SA finshed strong last year)
2. W, McGahee (17)
3. M. Harrison ( 24)
4. T. Brady (37)
5. A. Boldin (44)
6. D. McCallister (57)
7. T. Gonzalez (64)
8. D. Henderson (77)
9. V. Young (84)
10. K. Curtis (97)
11. B. Jackson (104
12. B. Urlacher (117)
13. R. Curry (124)
14. C. Hope (137)
15. A. Kampmann (144)
16. A. Pierce (157)
17. M. Furrey (164)
18. K. Morrison (177)
19. S. Gostkowski (184)

If SA has a great year then I will be pretty happy I think, but if he busts than I could be screwed.
