After a quarter against a shit-team(yeah, I know), Oregon's offense, which is kinda similar the App. St's, is definitely firing hard.

I was worried about a chip on Michigan's shoulder. Now, I'm liking U of O's chances next week.

Michigan has no chance to "win big" over Oregon... not a chance.

Well, Michigan will be favored.

Michigan will be ranked next week, too, which just goes to show how absolutely fucked and stupid the polls are in the first place.

Honestly, I don't know if we can beat Michigan next week. If Carr is smart he'll just run Hart straight at our defensive line which is apparently made up of pre-pubecsient japanese girls and backed up by a linebacking core that we found in a thai orphanage.

But, I don't see them consistantly stopping our offense our being anything but demoralized from this game. They won't win big over us.

From what I saw of both defenses, I'm guessing more along the lines of Oregon pulling out a squeaker, somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-149.

Hart will have 578 yards on the ground.

Dennis Dixon will have 387 yards rushing, to go with his 88 passing yards.

Jonathan Stewart will start strong, and then decide that Michigan fans are a bunch of big meanies, so he'll spend the last 3 quarters pouting about it.

Oregon's recievers will completely dominate UM's secondary, and will be wide open all game. This will be of no consequence, since all of the deep balls thrown to them will land 5 yards away, with the occasional bullet thrown right at their shoelaces.

Duck fans will continue to say "who?" every time a defensive player not named Chung or Thurmond makes a play(assuming they do in fact make a play).

I'd be curious to know whether or not the thigh injury to Hart is anything serious and it carries into this week or if it was just something that goes away before Saturday. My confidence in Henne and the passing game is quite low right now and if Hart can't go, I'd fear another disappointment. This game wasn't going to be easy but with the way things are right now, it'll only be more difficult. If this game was going to be in Outzen Stadium, the Ducks would stomp 'em. They're lucky this will be at home and they'll have the warm embrace of the quietest 110,000 fans in America.

Dennis Dixon is kinda like the Rex Grossman of the Pac-10. If "Good Dennis" shows up, I like Oregon. If "Bad Dennis" makes the trip instead, go with Michigan.

But seriously, isn't this one of those games when we expect a shootout and get a 24-21 type game? I expect a huge difference in the UM D this week. English has to make adjustments.

I haven't heard, does Oregon run any form of the spread offense? If so, how can anyone not take Oregon, not to mention the points. UM has trouble covering even in its best years.

The UM secondary is the weakest link on the team. We have a hard time fielding 2 starting cb's, when we have to go nickle or dime....God help us. It's my hope that DeBoring (OC) removes his head from his ass and allows his playmakers to make plays. Hart running over Long's side is beautiful, but let's open up the passing game. there has to be more than 2 routes in the UM playbook.

It's been a brutal few days, but I'm coming back around. Nothing will change my allegiance, if this didn't nothing will. I'm hoping that the program recognizes it's flaws and takes the steps necessary to bring back the glory.

Not true. I've always been a Lloyd supporter/apologist. I've always liked the way things were done at Michigan. It may have taken me longer but I'm here now. It's time to update the program, starting at the top. I won't flame and call Carr names, pray for illness or death, or rip on him on messageboards. No coach will be dismissed during a season, it's not the Michigan way. The search for a successor has been under way since the changes in Lloyd's conract wording were made this past off season. You've got to hit rock bottom...see OSU missing a bowl game in Coop's finale. That led them to the hiring of the Vested SOB. The keepers of the program know the deal, the alumns are getting antsy. They're already gripping over the changes looming in the BigHouse renovations, now we're losing to MF'ing App.St.?....it's nervous times for the fogies.

That 'cuse game still brings me nightmares. Especiallly since the fucking crowd wanted Dickhead Henson in the game so bad. First and only game I've ever left early. Absolutely brutal.

But yeah, to my point, I'm ready for a change. New blood. It's hard to believe it took an embarrassment of this magnitude to bring me around.

That's how it seems to work traditionally, eh?

But from what I saw of UM's D in the beaten-to-death highlights, and what I saw of Oregon's defensive front... I dunno. Both teams seemed more than capable of the big plays on offense, and neither team looked like it could stop a Jehovah's Witness from converting them. We'll see.

Since Gary Crowton took over as OC, it's pretty much the "West Coast Spread Option" just about every set. I'm not sure if it was originally designed as an "option, per se, but with a QB running around the backfield like a spastic, it sure looks like an option anyway. Unlike the previous incarnations of Oregon's O, it doesn't feature some huge superjock TE running a short route every passing down.

Oregon's recieving corps is as big as you'll ever see, all fast, and all experienced. As Q mentioned, if "Good Dennis" shows up, you might be hosed if the DBs don't bring a little sumpm sumpm. Dixon will take off on you like Michael Vick at a Korean restaurant when the check comes. Actually, his style of play is remarkably similar to Vick... don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to compare skill levels/accomplishments -- just trying to paint a picture. Same happy feet, kinda similar speed(I don't think Dixon is in the 4.3 range, though), and a propensity for missing the target by a good few yards. But like Vick, when he has "one of those games, you're fairly fucked.

Also have two big, big RBs that are capable of doing damage from the spread, and usually pile up yards after the initial hit.

Hart running over Long's side is beautiful, but let's open up the passing game.

My sincere advice would be to save that for the next week. From what I saw of Oregon's run D, you'd be well served to load up on your stud OL and run your stud RB behind him, all day. It was pretty soft up the middle, but that was OK when compared to the nonexistant containment of the outsides by the LBs. Alridge of Houston is a fine back, and their OLine played very well... but come on... tackle someone. Or at least don't fall backwards when they inevitably try and block you. It was pretty bad. Whereas the secondary wasn't too shabby, and has some athletes to keep the big plays in check.

And really, I suppose this isn't the week to say this, but...

I think Michigan's opener was a fluke. Could be wrong. I thought they were going to be really tough this year. Saw them a few times last year, and knew they were returning most of the offense... all I needed to hear. Over the summer, I guess I read some question marks on D, but I didn't think it was that bad. But Michigan recruits jocks, and after getting embarrassed, I'm sure they'll step it up. OK, maybe not "sure." And if your secondary is struggling, Oregon isn't really the team you want to see to get a "confidence booster" from.

UM losing is kinda fucked for the Ducks. If Oregon wins, the headlines tell the tale of Michigan's disasterous decline, even if UM plays great and Oregon is the 95 CORN FED STUDS. Nevermind U of O would have just swept a H&H with a Big Boy. If Michigan wins, it's like "Oregon lost to those scrubs...BWAHAHAHA!!!!" Or "MICHIGAN IS BACK!!! BIG 10 TITLE, HERE WE COME!!!!"
