My melt about the NFC East Bias

Post by RumpleForeskin »

Okay, I was curious to see the upcoming NFL schedule and started to notice something about the national TV games. NFC east teams were popping up everywhere, so I decided to jot down the number of games being played on national TV this year and breakdown the participants from each conference.

There are 44 games this year on national TV and this is how it all lays out...

What team is playing the most games on national TV this season? Defending Superbowl champs? No. Defending NFC champs? No.

So who is it?
None other than the fucking Dallas Cowboys. They are playing in 7 out of the 44 games. That is more than 15% of all NTV games for one team out of a total of 32 teams.

It gets better. The NFC East airs 5 divisonal games on NTV. Only one combination is not being aired (Dal v Was) out of the 6. That is 2 more division rival games than any other divison (AFC North and NFC North with 3) and that is 5 more than the AFC East. 5 out of the 8 divisions come to a total 5 divisional rival games on NTV.

The NFC East also appears 19 times out of a possilbe 88 in the 44 games. The closest division in appearances is the AFC North who only comes to 13 appearances out of a possilbe 88. Dallas' NTV appearances alone equate to more than half that. 5 out of the 8 divisions make less than half the appearances than the NFC East makes.

This has been going on for years and when the new TV allignment came up, it was suppose to change. Its obvious it hasn't. Fuck NBC, fuck ESPN, and fuck the NFL network for the continuation of jamming the fucking NFC East down our throats.

There are plenty of rivalry games and other intriguing matchups that people want to see. New Orleans v Carolina, Houston v Tennessee (in Houston b/c of the Vince Young connection), Buffalo v Miami, KC v Denver are all great rivalry games that would draw ratings.

I am just sick of this shit.

Rumps, it's all about dollars and sense.
This is nothing new.

Due to population reality, more people care about NFC East teams than any other division.
Toss America's team into that mix and it's an over the top reality that the NFC East is the darling of the National Football League.

When an NFC East match-up is scheduled just schedule a little one-on-one time with the little wifey.
Roll with it.

I know its a harsh reality and what I just posted could probably be tallied up as a KC Paul post job because I'm sure someone has already posted it. It just sucks. Money drives everything and I absolutely hate that money drives the NFC East. I know the NFL and the Networks want to maximize profits, but they already make enough money as it is, so why not throw in a little variety in there for the FOOTBALL fan (me) and not just the Cowboy fan (fags). Is that too much to ask?

You can thank Bob McNair for punking L.A. out of a team.
If not you'd have had to watch some turd LaLa Land team on 48% of Sundays too.

No shit. Guess I should look at the positives. Rack Robert for cutting a check for 700 million to get the team here when the NFL would have given LA the 32nd franchise for less than half that.

I would, but I can't convince the wife that bad weather doesn't affect the TV reception. I've tried several times, but she won't leave cable.

Go ahead and add Comcast to my current list of things I am going to melt about.

Do you have a HDTV? DirecTV is set to add 48 new HD channels next week.

BTW - I've lost reception 2x since I switched back to DTV in April. Both were during really bad t-storms. The signal was gone for about 20 minutes each time. The last time was during The Office season finale.
