2-0 Houston! Green Bay! Detroit!
Which one is for real?
Detroit's offense is what we thought it would be but their 2 wins are against suspect teams. Sure, Minnesota can be considered a worthy opponent, but the offense still has questions, which were unanswered today in Tavaris Jackson's terrible performance. I think Detroit is the weakest of the 2-0 surprise teams.
Green Bay and Minnesota are a lot alike on the defensive side of the ball. They are solid in all 3 aspects of their defensive unit. The difference with Green Bay, is that they are capable of putting points on the board with Driver and Favre. They have played 2 worthy opponents in Philly and NYG, so I think they are definitely a possiblilty for the playoffs. Very good team whom I think will challenge Chicago for the NFC north title.
Houston (could be viewed as bias opinion) REALLY impressed me today. They came out and got punched in the mouth going down early 14-0 with a turnover deep in their own territory and looked like the Texans of old. I was sitting there just thinking, "Here we go again" right after Smith caught his second TD pass. What did the Texans do? The responded with 34 unanswered points on the road in Carolina's home opener. Wow. Just wow. They ARE for real. I still think the AFC is too deep, but with the AFC North being so competitive, its possilbe Houston can sneak in there with the final playoff spot. We'll see.

“You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas”
This certainly can't be good news for the Texans and their playoff hopes ...
Word is it's a sprained PCL, and the team won't know the severity until he's checked out tomorrow.CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Houston receiver Andre Johnson sprained his knee during the fourth quarter of the Texans' 34-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, coach Gary Kubiak said.
Johnson injured his left knee after catching a 10-yard pass with 11:43 remaining. He was tackled by safety Chris Harris at the Carolina 22 and remained on the turf for several minutes.
He walked off the field under his own power, but could be seen limping on the sideline. He didn't return after trainers wrapped the knee in ice.
``We'll look at it when we get home, and it'll be day to day,'' Kubiak said.

The 49ers, I don't see as a surprise. They played Arizona at home and a St Louis team that could go 5-11 this year. Their 2-0 start was expected.
As for the Texans, all I said was they could slide into the last playoff spot. Who knows? I still think their a year away, but stranger things have happened. Wouldn't you agree?

Yeah, I was concerned about it when he was limping on the sidelines. I'm hoping its something that could take a week or two to heel. Dre is a very well conditioned machine, so I think he could return sooner rather than later. If not, then the Texans could suffer a setback no doubt. Someone will have to step up their game in the receiving core. Hopefully, Kubiak will figure out a way for Daniels and Green to get more involved in the passing game if indeed 'Dre is out for a significant anount of time.orcinus wrote:Word is it's a sprained PCL, and the team won't know the severity until he's checked out tomorrow.

That the Texans could make the playoffs? Sure, it's possible.RumpleForeskin wrote:Wouldn't you agree?
But you're getting way ahead of yourself with that kinda' talk. Just enjoy this weeks victory for a bit (and it was a nice win over a decent Carolina team on the road), and then look forward to Week 3. It's a looong season.
Two weeks in, it's not easy to say which one is a 'for real' team, but I would say that this is the best Texan team ever.
Not saying a whole lot, but it's progress for a change.
A. Johnson being shelved for a while won't help though.
Detroit's offense is fairly formidable.
Could see them getting into a few shootouts this year.
Give it a few more weeks.

Sorry Rumple about underestimating your Texans...looks they'll easily go over those 3 wins I had for them.
As for the Lions...consider who they've played. I wouldn't look too much into a 2-0 start when you're playing two teams that probably aren't going to make the playoffs. I'm not about to get too worked up over the Lions 2-0 start but it's better to start out this way than how they have been playing in the past. This has to be quickest to two wins in the last few years...which is a sad statement to have to say but this team will start seasons winless for several weeks before breaking through.
With the Lions, they're passing attack is as good as any team in the league but they can't run worth a damn and the line is very slow. The defense is shaky...they were able to prey on a turnover machine yesterday in Jackson and McCown last Sunday threw for almost 300 on them in a losing effort. The front four has been their strength on defense...Rogers is back to Pro Bowl form in the middle and White has raised hell off the edge. I'm not a big fan of the secondary and the linebackers with the exception of Sims have been mediocre. I'm not thumbing my nose at a 2-0 start but they beat teams that just aren't very good right now...take it for what it's worth. Beat the Eagles next week and then I'll begin to believe.

As a Texan season ticket holder from the beginning it is nice to see a team that lines up and actually plays football. The defense is salty. They stop the run and get pressure on the QB. I loved seeing Mario double teamed yesterday because it left single coverage on Amobi. Killings looked like a man amongst boys. Funny how this offense is rolling considering we have the same offensive line. All the pundits said the Texans would be lucky to win 4 games...if we had David Carr. Schaub will have that total by the first week of October. I see us 7-2 going into the bye week. We finish either 9-7 or 10-6.

2-0 and they come out of the woodwork.Harvdog wrote:As a Texan season ticket holder from the beginning...
I wonder how many more Texan bandwagoneers are now going to proclaim their undying love and devotion for the shittiest expansion franchise since the Tampa Bay Fuckinqueers got dick stomped by every team in the NFL not named Oakland?
Nice. I have claimed the Texans from the start. I just post more in CFB.War Wagon wrote:2-0 and they come out of the woodwork.Harvdog wrote:As a Texan season ticket holder from the beginning...

There was joke today that an ESPN reporter came up to Kubiak before the game and asked if Carr had an insight to the plays that the Texans were going to run. Kubiak said 'No" because since David left they took out the sack the the dump off pass.mvscal wrote:And even funnier that they've only given up two sacks. He was horrible. 90% of the sacks were on him. I said all along that he was good as Fresno but sucked in the pros. Carolina better hope Jake stays healthy.

Really? Funny how I've seen nary a peep from you in the NFL forum until now. A 2-0 start with a rather impressive road win tends to bring the bangwagon fuck out in even the most reticent.Harvdog wrote: I have claimed the Texans from the start.

1. Does it really get cold enough in SoTex where you need a furnace...
and two...
2. Are women folk there allowed to control the thermostat?

I clicked on one of Harvdog's posts and found this beauty of a reply by CriscoPaul...
Hilarious is right. My other Carr is a Matt SchaubIdiot KC Paul wrote: Hilarious.
Will you still rate that a "big success" after Carr finds out in Carolina what it's like to play QB behind an actual NFL-caliber offensive line and rips the starting yob from Jake Delhomme?
Until the Texans figure out that they should probably get some GOOD offensive lineman to protect their QB (doesn't matter who he is, anybody taking snaps for that team should strongly consider a GOOD life insurance policy), they will never piss a drop.

From what I’ve seen the posters in that “amateurs forum” would run rings around many of the regulars in here. NFL forum has that high KC tard factor. Not to mention a certain vaginal moderator.War Wagon wrote:Yes, yes, I'm quite aware that you spend most of your time in the amatuers forum.Harvdog wrote: I just post more in CFB.
