Trainwreck update: Next stop Chicago

Ok, so the Boys are sitting pretty with a 2-0 record. Thats the good news. The bad news? Their defense looks like absolute horseshit. The Giant game was a total abortion, and there was minimal improvement when they lined up against the stellar Dolphin offense. I know injuries have a HUGE deal with this defensive effort, but I am not one to make or listen to excuses. The Boys need to get a better defensive rush from their front seven if they want to have any chance of going deep in the playoffs.

Now the Boys will finally face a real challenge this week when they play the defending NFC Champs, Chicago Bears. This game will give a pretty good indication of how the Boys season will go. Their offense has put up some huge numbers the first two games, but we'll see how good they really are when they have to go against Urlacher and Co. Another concern I have for this game is the special teams play of Dallas. It has been sporadic at best, and it would not surprise me to see Hester streaking down a sideline next week. On the defensive side of the ball, the Boys will have to stop the run and rattle Grossman's dome a few times. If they do that, he will become an interception throwing machine. That will bode well for the Boys.

As usual, in for any sig/AV bets from Mace if he's interested.

Who is the NT for the Cowboys 34 front? That's a problem that won't fix itself during the course of the season. Chicago should be able to run the ball and the Cowboy secondary is nothing to fear.

This will be Wade Philips first test against a probable playoff team. Should be interesting.

Jay Ratliff is the NT. While he is not as big as Ferguson, he definitely has some talent and you can argue he is a better athlete. He just needs game time experience and will get plenty of it now. I agree the secondary is not much without Newman manning the other side, but getting four picks on sunday was decent to see. Miami didn't run the ball too well, and maybe thats more of a credit to the NT play, but Cedric will be the best RB we have faced. Should be interesting.

If Chicago is smart, then they should give Ced Benson and the other AP a heavy dose carries this weekend. I know Chicago's defense is their strong suit, but the more they are on the field, the more they are subceptible to giving up a big play later in the game. KC started having success late in the game last week, but penalties absoutely killed them. Keep Dallas' offense off the field and they won't be able to get into a rhythm. If Dallas is smart, then they will not let Devin Hester touch the ball. If they are successful in doing that, then Chicago will have a hard time scoring. Rex Grossman has no business being a starting QB in this league.

Not really. KC could've easily won that game last week had they not left about 4 scoring opportunities standing at the door with ridiculous turnovers and penalties. The Bears D is very vulnerable, especially late in the game. They wear down.

As for the Bears offense: Totally inept is a generous description. Rex can be counted on to heave at least two mind numbingly stupid INT's.

They've got one weapon, and that's Hester on kick returns. Kick the fucking ball out of bounds, every damn time, and da' Boys will do fine.

Grossman had more games with a QB Rating over 100 than any other QB in the league.

Good Rex, or Bad Rex? That is the question every Bears opponent will be facing this season.

Yeah, Actually I do feel pretty lucky. I'm pretty sure the Cowboys can overcome Grossman possibly dropping a 17 spot on them. I can see the Boys dropping an easy 27 spot on the Bears. I'll call my Shot.

Dallas looked great tonight.

Either that, or Chicago is a complete fraud.

Probably a bit of both.

But based on the nature of the NFL, it wouldn't surprise me if the Rams go into Irving and beat the 'boys next week.
