OU-TU
Fuck it, I'll start a thread about the game, even though it likely will be a blowout.
This whole freakin' town is jacked for this game. Not only because TU Fan is excited to have OU in their backyard, but because OU Fan is here in HUGE numbers and it's like family. (OU fans will probably be 50 percent of the crowd, at least).
Regardless of the score, this is a nice matchup for both programs:
For TU:
-- National TV audience, with no competing games.
-- A chance to test themselves against a national power after a big win last week.
-- A chance for a lot of Oklahoma high school stars to go up against the machine that is OU. Lots of big-time high school players on both sides, but it means a LOT more for TU's state high school alumni. These guys would have something to remember forever if they're able to beat OU.
For OU:
-- A chance for the defense to measure itself against one of the nation's best offenses. TU should be able to move the ball and score on OU -- at least enough for the myopian fucktards to start calling for Venables' resignation, no doubt.
-- It's close to home and the atmosphere is in many ways, like family. Lots of folks here who normally would pull for TU are with their alma matter tonight, myself included. Sorta like being at a party with your neighbors and family -- while civil, when it comes down to it, blood is thicker than water, yo.
-- It's a soft "road" opener for Bradford, who will need some confidence come next week for the first road game against a decent defensive team.
Btw, I don't live too far from the stadium. I took my dogs to the park about an hour ago to run them (get that mandatory shit out of the way, before the game starts) and it's like a HUGE fucking party, on both sides. Lots of folks tailgating on both sides. The park where I take my dogs is about 3 blocks from the stadium and one of the main drags leading to it. I heard lots of horns and roars. Fuckin' A ... Great shit, bros.
OU: 62
TU: 35
Out.

i think TU will move the ball and score. i've seen nothing this year to keep me from thinking OU's D is different than usually soft over the short or deep middle.
insofar as people think this is a cupcake (it is), Tulsa is a bowl team most years in the last decade--and their last HC went to Louisville. they don't seem to get the MAC/midwest mid-major "is better than people think" treatment. or when UT plays Rice or Houston, "a traditional SWC rivalry".....excuse.
46-26 OU.
rack the Oklahoma (the state) gameday experience RF. I miss that shit. Believe the Heupel is apparently there as well. made the trip, he must love Skelly Stadium.

It wouldn't surprise me if TU actually takes an early lead in this game or keeps it close for a half ... only to be crushed.
Btw, it's now called "Chapman Stadium," courtesy of a new donor. I think it's still called "Skelly Field" though. The "Sports Animal" radio hacks were calling it "Skelly Field at Chapman Stadium" earlier.
I live close enough to the stadium to hear the hurricane "siren" when I've got my windows open. Sadly, not today, as it was in the fucking 90s AGAIN. I would have loved to have a beer with BtH, but it's probably for the better. I've had a bitch of a sinus infection/flu the better part of this week. I finally felt human yesterday, and am about 90 percent today.
Fuck it, I may pop a beer before the game starts. :D
They've had one other game here, since I've lived here in the last 6 years or so ... when TU was still rebuilding and they were hammered, big-time.KC wrote:rack the Oklahoma (the state) gameday experience RF. Tulsa does have a salty offense, against the average team they'll play they'll run-amock. But OU's O is just too much. OU actually has a balanced team for a change, and the O may be even better than the D. I'm glad somebody in the 12 is worth a damn.
You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
