This kid has no quit in him. Pure guts and determination. His nickname should be cliche because he embodies several of them. Like I said post-App.St. Mike Hart by himself is reason enough to watch a UM game.

Hart is tons of fun to watch and he'll be missed after this year. It will be great to see him break all of the major rushing records at Michigan. He's on pace for a 2000 yard season...that would be a great accomplishment for him. If he can put up an epic performance against the Buckeyes and carry them to a win and then win a bowl game as well...I think he's got a nice legacy to leave behind.
As a high school football official (32 years in CNY and on my 6th here) I must say that Mike was the best I ever saw on the field, and I saw him last in 2001 when he was in 10th grade .At my umpire position, I saw him
make eye-popping moves; and that stacks up against the 2nd best I saw as an official--Dorsey Levens.
I did not work a game with Noel Devine down here, So I have no way to compare his skills to Mike.

My stepdaughter's high school played his in the state semifinals in '02, and my stepdaughter was a cheerleader. My wife and I went to the game. I had been alerted to Hart by the local fishwrap, and I told my wife to keep an eye on #32 (Hart's high school number).
Simply, Hart was the difference in the game. There was no player on our sideline anywhere near as talented. Still, we came up with a decent gameplan and kept him in check for most of the game -- until he broke off a 76-yard TD run with about 3 1/2 minutes left. His team won 13-10. Take him out of the game, and the game isn't really that close.
I knew right then that Michigan was getting a good one. I just wish ND had gotten him instead.
