Top 15 - Week 5

15 Kentucky

No dramatic changes except for PSU dropping out. I leapfrogged LSU over UF because they've beaten two ranked teams, and Florida didn't have a dominating performance yesterday against a weak Ole Miss team. I bumped Oregon up two spots, and ahead of Rutgers. No disrespect to Rutgers but they have played NOBODY, and Oregon's win over an improving Michigan team looks more impressive now. South Florida enters this group because they have looked good in their last two games. They're a well rounded team with talent on both sides of the ball...and because Grothe is the man. Wisconsin stays stagnant and low at the #13 spot because they can't drop the hammer on anybody. I thought last night, first Big Ten game, under the lights on ABC, that they'd really lay it to Iowa and make a statement. Nope. I know winning is all that matters, but they've looked far too shakey to be placed amongst the top 10. Kentucky/Georgia could've been a coin flip for the last spot. I went with UK because they're still undefeated.

1 USC - Defense and offense are so balanced on both sides
2 Oklahoma - The Tulsa game showed me how deep they are on offense. RBs and WRs galore.
3 LSU - I went back and looked at the offensives they've played this year. I think that defense hasn't been truly tested yet.
4 Florida - Inconsistency by the defense on the road could translate to more than one loss on the road this year (SC and LSU)

I'm liking it very much. I don't think we're worthy yet, but a win on Friday would certainly cement it.

No doubt. Probably the most anticipated game of the year up to this point. That Friday date kinds sucks. Hopefully no plans will be made for that evening.

Unlike the pollsters my votes change week to week based on performance and how I perceive a team not on how I voted the previous week. This is exactly what not only this board but college football fan in general has been bitching about for over a decade now. Just because a team is ranked somewhere one week or preseason does not mean that my perception of them can not change. Screw off and don't get so pissy about someone (me) doing exactly what everyone is bitching for pollsters to do. Go to hell and take your abomination of a defense with you Trix. I don't feel the need to explain myself any futhur to a moron like you. If someone with half a brain (as in just about anyone else on this board) questioned why I did things I might consider explaining why I voted the way I did but since it was you I'll let slide...

Yes OSU jumped big. College football at the top has been disappointing. Ole Piss is not just bad, or attrocious they absolutly suck. They were blown up by fucking Mizzou and Florida was completly outplayed both on the scoreboard and the field the entire second half against a piss poor seco... third rate football squad whose coach will likely be looking for a job at the end of the season. Those previous losses in Oxford cost two coaches their jobs for the most part or did you forget that Trix?

Don't get too excited Wags. It was more from a lack of options this year so far than a true belief that they are that good. I think college football is bottom heavy this year. I think Mizzou can score on just about anyone this season. You guys are airing it out very well. Defense needs a great deal of work though.

Great....so when USC plays a close game on the road I can't wait to see them drop to say.....4 or 5???? Or OU? OR LSU?

You are one of bullshit people that I can't stand with so-called STYLE points. You are the abomination. People like you should not be even allowed to vote. Unless you go back to Nebraska in 1995 every team is going to have some close games. It's fucking football and there is more parity now then ever before.

If anyone outside of SCS disagrees/agrees with any of that, please either back his opinion up or let us know.

I didn't give "style" points. Ole Piss and Northwestern is a toss up in my opinion and Ohio State handled business where as Florida did not. Make all the excuses for it you want but two coaches in the last seven years have lost their jods in Gainesville for losing to that same program that damn near beat you again. The same program you got pasted by, and that's what 200 other people at my sports bar (many of them UF fans themselves) thought as well, in the second half has so far been blown up by Missouri, fucking Vanderbilt, and barely beat a horrendous Memphis Tigers team for God's sake!!!

USC may not remain in forth for me next week no matter how much they win by if I don't see some improvement out of their defense, especially their secondary. West Virginia may be #3 in my vote next week if they continue to handle business.

The simple fact of the matter is, and lets be real about it, you don't like the way I dropped Florida on my ballot. Florida has an explosive offense but their defense is is best described as average as best. Florida has now given up 30 points to Troy at home, 20 to a Tennessee team that turned the ball over three times inside the Florida 30 only one of which was actually forced by the defense or it would have been a lot closer game and now 20+ against an abysmal Ole Piss team that will be searching for a new coach again this December.

I haven't seen Rutgers play yet this season so I can't keep voting them higher than teams that I have seen play multiple times and have impressed me already. It wouldn't be fair. I vote on what I see and what I see is an Ohio State defense that is giving up next to nothing against oppossing offenses and Florida team that lets Sun Belt Teams rack up 30 on them on their field.

I suppose your next gripe is going to be about dropping Penn State who lost to a 1-2 Michigan off my ballot just because I thought they were the 6th best team in the country last week.

TROY?

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Now I know you aren't watching...just looking at box scores....the second and third stringers were in....it was 49-7 at the half. And i didn't they BLOW OUT Okie State? Again, just taking week to week without the body of work is just plain stupid.

Its NOT JUST ABOUT UF dude......do you think you matter? Your vote counts? It doesn't. UF controls its own destiny and I expect two losses this year. Your artbitrary ranking system sucks....that's all. Moving up OSU 5 spots by beating a team that lost to DUKE and dropping a team 3 spots who won in conference, on the road in a place they hadn't won in 13 years. It is a message board and you are entitled to your opinion as am I.

PS When did "damn near beat you"(which they didn't) become a loss or treated as such?

Northwestern was an in conference game for Ohio State as well and the program they faced has won the Big 10 more recently than Ole Piss has even finished second in their division of the SEC. Ohio State has improved each game this season on the field that is why they are moving up in my mind no other reason. Ole Miss Lost to Vanderbilt both Northwestern and Ole Piss have bad losses. Ole Miss pasted Florida the second half, Ohio State handled business for 60 minutes. There are a lot of teams who have had the band in the second half and didn't give up 30 points to Sun Belt teams or do you need a list of them?

Oh....great...now you are using what happened in previous seasons to help you determine voting? But I thought it was just week to week......hmmmm....more confusion.....
Ohio State has improved each game this season on the field that is why they are moving up in my mind no other reason. Ole Miss Lost to Vanderbilt both Northwestern and Ole Piss have bad losses.
While were on the subject.....NW just lost to Duke???? THAT'S NOT A BAD LOSS....THAT'S THE WORST LOSS....they hadn't won in like 22 games or something.....

FL will be fine....the D is very young and will get better. Not worried. And as for pasted.....do youy mean the 509 total yards we rolled up on Ole Miss????? We will learn how to close out games and I'll go out on a limb and say that Ole Miss and UF would both crush NW. The Big ten is down this year....way down. But keep voting flip-flopper. Trust me I'm not, though those easy OoC wins over Illinois and Mississippi are now starting to look more impressive.
I think Mizzou can score on just about anyone this season. You guys are airing it out very well. Defense needs a great deal of work though.
Very astute observations. I was looking forward to the Nebraska game in two weeks as the first real test, but it now appears that we'll have to wait until the following week to get a real measurement of where they're at. Thanks Ball State.

There's a very real possibility that game will be a preview of the one at Arrowhead in December.

And no, no smack talk from me yet, or orc and Radiofan will be in here demanding all sorts of sig and av bets.

Ohio State won their game 50+ points with the band playing in the fourth quarter. They rolled up 40+ points in 30 minutes of game and started putting in walk ons in the fourth quarter!!! Florida let their shit team damn near upset them in the fourth quarter, and yes Ole Miss pasted them the second half. Any sort of semblance of an offense in the first half and Ole Miss wins that game walking away in the last 15 minutes. Ole miss is a crappy team this year just as it has been every season for the previous decade with the exception of one 10 win season that occurred 4 years ago. Ohio State did what is was suppossed to do to be ranked in the top 5 in my eyes, Florida did not. Deal with it!

BTW tossing out the Okie Light game in defense of Troy doesn't fly with me.... They already proven their defense sucks ass for two years running now. So you're telling me that Florida's D should be compared with Okie State's. Yep that's what everyone aspires towards. Being compared to a team that couldn't hold their little sisters out of the end zone.

Being compared to a team that couldn't hold their little sisters out of the end zone.
Huh? Dude, you flip flop back and forth and contradict yourself left and right......when you don't like it thrown back in your face...it just "doesn't fly with you". Wow. I will look forward to your top 15 all year and the giant swings we should see based on your explanations here. I guess in your whacked out little world whoever plays the best on the very last week of the season is the best team???

Is that what you are saying????? Cuz that's what you are saying. Don't even think of back-peddling now.

Looking forward to this all season, Mr. Kerry.

You used Troy as an example. Florida did not play Oklahoma State. Are you trying to make an argument for Troy being in the Top 15? Good luck with that...

No doubt. Probably the most anticipated game of the year up to this point. That Friday date kinds sucks. Hopefully no plans will be made for that evening.
I thought the Friday date would hurt us attendance wise, but we've sold the game out, so the game cannot get here soon enough.
