Actually the qb was clearly heading out of bounds. It was unnecessary and borderline cheap. I know it's division 1 football and all, but you know the zebras protect qb's.
Good call.

If you look at the sideline you can see that the Offensive player is also trying to get past the 1st down marker, are you saying that defensive players should just go ahead and give up the first down because the offensive player is near the sideline?
How many times has an offensive player been near the sideline, saw the defensive player ease up on the play and then the offensive player puts his shoulder down and blasts through the defender for more yards?
that was a shit call and if it happened vs your team you would not like it either

if you look at the sideline you'll see that not only is he headed out of bounds, he already is out of bounds, meaning he's not going to advance it any further, ergo the usc player is a douche who fucked up.
Oh my, you mean SC should had only 20 personal foul calls in that game instead of 21?

There was a similar play in the UM/OSU game last year where Crable smoked Smith as he was headed out of bounds. The Bucks would have punted to UM with a chance to take the lead late, instead OSU kept possession and left UM with virtually no chance to win the game. It was the right call then and still is. You didn't hear me or any othe UMfan here whining about the call in here. Bottom line is that the defensive players need to exercise better judgement. This guy (as was Smith) was CLEARLY headed out of bounds. It's a frustration hit, bad judgement, and the proper call by the officials.

The USC guy was running down the big white stripe known as the sidelines. He knew the guy was going out and laid into him anyway.
Pretty easy call for the zebras.
The bad call of the week would have to be the Punt Catch Interference call on Auburn. The guy caught the ball and then got hit. How can you call catch interference if the dude catches the ball?

That call made Tommy Tuberville look like Mike Stoops, minus two or three needles to the ass.

Exactly. There was maybe 2 penalties against SC in that game that were questionable but so what. I've seen enough of Pac 10 official over the years that I've almost come to expect it.
What about the other 14?? Can you say "Loss of focus?"
I'm more worried about the injuries that are piling up faster than bad posts from M2ool and the (IMO) mediocre play of Booty.
I'll gladly take the W at UW but damn, SC better get better in a hurry...from the injuries and their play on the field.
Toejam has just about cornered the market on douchebaggery. It's just incredible to me that this guy, after all these years, isn't trolling.
I can't speak for all SC fans (most of them seem to be pretty stand-up), but I think in Toejam's case, he's become so spoiled from winning WEEK after friggin' WEEK that he's got to find something to complain about.
And since in Toejam's eyes SC is this untouchable empire of a football factory that can do no wrong, there's nothing or no one else to wag the finger at except the refs; who apparently in the Pac10 have signed some super-secret contract to ONLY lodge penalties against USC.
Complaining about a call after a win is like whining about the host serving free Miller Lite. Yeah, it could've been better, but in the end you keep your damn mouth shut because you just got over.

True, except in his case, his normal "takes" are like he's just had the triple equivalent of a Wags' Saturday night of Bud Lights.

Good point. He or she could serve Miller Lite in Oklahoma, which is 3.2 beer, along with every other domestic. I'm fairly certain that's what Mgo was getting at.

And when you go to a liquor store (in Norman), the beer is out on the floor at room temperature. At least 18 y/o's could buy it back then. There was even this one beer and I'm not bullshitting. It was called "Scotch Buy" and even had the Scotch tape logo on the generic white cans.
The liquor laws here are beyond Goddamned retarded. But what can you expect from a bunch of hypocrites ... err, a state, that finally undid prohibition in the fucking 1950s, for Christ's sake?
Hell, warm and on the floor, we're lucky we can buy real beer 'round these parts. Jeeeezzus don't like no AL-CO-HAUL.

Geebus Oklahoma sounds like Utah. The beer in the grocery stores is the 3.2 stuff but at least it's cold. If you want the "heavy" beer you need to go the liquor store where it's warm and expensive.
When I came back home we stopped in Ft. Smith, AR. Jack and I went looking for beer for about an hour. Turns out it was a dry county.
In Norman, we all could get alcohol and drink our asses off. They just made it tougher to obtain. You know by that on campus theater... well north of that was that arcade/burger joint, then there was THE bar further up.
I think you had to be 21 to drink there, but we always got served. I forget as it was so damn long.
Those Baptists created a bad deal.
BTW... remember Pizza Shuttle and those $4 pizzas? Those kicked ass! We scammed those guys good at Ditmar's house. Next year in Cate Center they wised up.
Hey a host can certainly do worse than serve free Miller Lite.
At least mine had pizza too.....
Hey as far as these calls go. ND is 0-5 soon to be 0-6. then 0-7,then 0-8 and it's all the ref's fault.
I don't know why I'm going this Saturday.....oh wait, the tickets were free.....that's why. Too bad they don't sell beer at the Rose Bowl.
Then again my 13 year old can't drive yet....I'll have to be sober through an entire ND game.....What is this world coming to?
