IndyFrisco is a TITan fan?

Post by poptart »

Who knew?
Not me.

Or maybe I forgot.

Let's talk about this incredibly vital American Football Conference showdown then, shall we?

Summary:

Oakland's psyche is bruised.
Tennessee can't be run on.
Oakland can't throw a forward pass beyond 9 yds.
No touchdowns for Oakland.
Vince Young can't spell cat.

Tennessee will keep slamming away between the tackles, and will eventually break off a long one ..... or three.
Oakland will have at least one special team meltdown.

Titans: 24
Raiders: 6

Al Davis, shorter of breath, moves one day closer to death.

Prove me wrong, Raiders.

I still luv u a very lot lot.

Rack the Dark Side of the Moon reference.

Yup, Titan fan here. I've mentioned it a couple of times. On a scale of 1-10, I'm a 7 as a fan of the NFL. Hence, my objectiveness in this forum. On a scale of 1-10, I'm a 87 when it comes to CFB. Hence, my homerism in that forum.

That being said, I still follow my Titans and the NFL closely. My in-laws have 20 season tix at the 40 yard line 8 rows up in Indy. So, I do enjoy Indy and their game but my team is still the Titans. Hard to pass on those tickets every week so I pretend to like the Colts in front of them...'cept when Tennessee comes to town. Anyhow, Houston fan in all other sports. Folllowed Pud Adams and the Oilers to Tennessee. Not going to be a Texans fan.

As for my take on the game....VY is still questionable. Fisher will not name a QB. Why should he? Might as well make the 'duhs practice for both schemes, Collins or VY.

Whoever is QBing this team, TDs are hard to come by (Sin, Rob Bironas). Titans have just had awful red zone success the past few years. Much of it is due to the lack of a big play receiver. When Mason was here, yeah, he could fly downfield and catch a pass, but in the red zone he was nothing. With VY at QB, there is some red zone success as he can do it with his legs. With Collins, nada (Sin, Bironas again).

Titans defense is verrah good though. That has kept them in games this year. Titans ALWAYS play to the level of their opponent, however. They took Indy to the wire in Nashville and should have won that game if not for fucking Butterfinger Receiver dropping a pass at the 30 with no defender on him (back to my no big play WR comment).

So, my prediction. Weather is getting a little shitty round these parts. I live 3 hours from Nashville, albeit norethwest of them. Still shitty weather. If VY is playing, should not be that big a factor. If it is Collins, it just might be. So, I will make two predictions:

If VY starts:
Titans 32 (1 Def TD)
Oakland 21

If Collins starts:
Titans 24 (1 Def TD)
Oakland 21

Either way, I think Oakland gets 21. The Titan's differential will be 2 TDs on VY drives vs. 2 FGs on Collins drives.

Well, just read that VY had a good full practice yesterday so I'll go with my VY prediction unless something changes this week and he reinjures it.

Like most experts say, in order to be successful you need to be able run the ball and stop the run.

The titans have had some early success stopping the run, but nobody has tried to run on them. They average a little over 17 rushes against per game. Coach Kiffen has shown his persistence when it comes to running the football. I don't see him changing now. The Raiders showed last week they can stop the run. Aside from one run, Larry Johnson was pretty much shut down. The titans don't have anyone near his caliber.

WTF!?! Didn't watch the game, but didn't a Houston team quarterbacked by Sage Rosenfals, a banged up Rec corp and a banged up RB corp just drop 36 points on you. give me a fuckin' break. 36 points!!!

Anyway, I see this game being similar to last weeks Raider game. Low scoring, lots of punts. The Raiders will score a TD on special teams and knock VY out of the game.

Raiders - 24
Oilers - 12

One bad game does not make a season. Tell me you knew.

Here's the opposing team's scores in the other games this season:

Jacksonville: 10
New Orleans: 14
Atlanta: 13
Tampa Bay: 13
Indianapolis: 22

While those other teams, sans Indy and kinda on Jax, aren't stellar offenses, look at these numbers:

41, 22, 30, 38, 33, 29

Those are the scores Indy has put up on opposing team's offenses. Tennessee being the lowest at 22. They have the #8 rushing Defense. Where they do hurt is passing defense. Thanks, Pacman. Hope someone will eventually make it rain on the small of your back.

So, I recant my "verrah" and leave it as good. Good enough to beat the 'duhs.

I think Houston racking up furious late points last week v. Tennessee as a bit of a 'fluke' deal.
The Titan defense is pretty stout.

Oakland's passing game as it is, I don't see how they can expect to score enough to win this game.
I agree that the Raiders will keep banging away with the running game.
It seems to be Kiffin's current M.O., and I don't blame him.
Can they make it work, absent much of a passing game?
Questionable, IMO.

A lot of things will have to fall right for Oakland to win this one.

Raiders playing just well enough to ........ lose in excruciating fashion.
Dungver in O.T.
KC by two -- late Culpecker INT.
Tennessee by 4 -- late 'drive' stall in Titan territory.

Getting blown out is easier to take.

I continue to be impressed by Kiffin.
Doing all he can to make lemonade of his offensive lemon.

If J. Russell hadn't missed training camp and preseason I think we might see him right about now.
As it is, I think we're looking at a few more weeks of 'Pepper .... or McKlown.

For what it's worth, V. Young was pretty damn horrible today.
Some credit to the Raider pass defense, which is pretty good, but the guy isn't up to par as an NFL gunslinger.
